Publisher's summary

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single woman teetering on the verge of thirty must be in want of a husband.

Not true for Manhattanite Elizabeth Scott. Instead of planning a walk down the aisle, she's crossing the pond with the only companion she needs-her darling dog, Bliss. Caring for a pack of show dogs in England seems the perfect distraction from the scandal that ruined her teaching career, and her reputation, in New York. What she doesn't count on is an unstoppable attraction to billionaire dog breeder Donovan Darcy. The London tycoon's a little bit arrogant, a whole lot sexy...and the chemistry between them is disarming. When passion is finally unleashed, might Elizabeth hope to take home more than a blue ribbon?

Terrific story, just needed another chapter...

this was a fantastic book. The narrator was wonderful. I just wish there would have been another chapter or even just a little more to Elizabeth & Donovan's future described.

Not that great.

This book was ok. Predictable and kind of boring. The main characters pretending to hate each other but loving each other got old.

Mr Darcy, you had me at hello!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love Jane Austen fan fiction and this one did not disappoint, I had watched the Hallmark movie and thought I would read the book, I was pleasantly surprised, added depth and locales. Teri Wilson told a nice story that is honorable to the original to Pride and Prejudice.

Love Mr. Darcy

This is better than I would have imagine. Mr. Darcy the funny and perplexing man. Elizabeth keeps him on his toes. Love this story.

Updated pride a pejudice

I loved this book!!! I just finished pride and predjudice, and though I liked the original, I found this take on it much more entertaining.

Entertaining Light Romance

If you could sum up Unleashing Mr. Darcy in three words, what would they be?

Cute. Sweet. Romantic.

Any additional comments?

Caroline Shaffer narrates this modern take on Pride & Prejudice. Unleashing Mr. Darcy is a sweetly romantic story with great characters taking place in the dog show world. There is one mild sex scene. I would listen to this again.

One of the best Pride & Prejudice knockoffs

Great narrator! I'm a fan of Ms. Shaffer.
And as an updated versions of the classic P&P this is one of the best and enjoyable.

Sweet and Adorable

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Probably the last few chapters of Elizabeth's character. Yes, she has a certain archetype, and she had one bad experience, but does that one mildly bad experience really have to set up her whole personality? If her backstory with her family was a little more explored or if she had more reason to hate rich people, I wouldn't complain. That whole trait just fell flat and a bit obnoxious towards the end for me. Her whole Best in show premise kind of undermines her hatred for people with money. Don't these dog shows only accept purebreds? Are not purebreds expensive to start with? And the ending was a bit rushed with an obvious win.

What did you like best about this story?

Probably Darcy. For the most part he came across a little funny. I enjoyed his inner monologue and his banter with Elizabeth is fun; especially the scene where he is overseeing Charles and quotes from the handbook proper form for a dog. Loved the innuendos.

Have you listened to any of Caroline Shaffer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This would be my first. I enjoyed it for the most part, but for me, it was a one time listen.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I feel like I have, only the names were changed to Elizabeth and Darcy (which is what originally drew me in). Since I am a romantic, probably yes.

Any additional comments?

It was a nice light read. As a Pride and Prejudice fan, I was excited to hear the few lines and quotes from the original. It is fun to hear variations on the classic, so aside from a bit of an irritating Elizabeth, I enjoyed this book.
