Not Enamored With The Main Characters
I've loved books I've read by Maya banks before, so perhaps I just wasn't as in the mood for this type of story as I thought I was. I can't say I cared much for either of the main characters & that made the whole story lackluster for me.

Too Far
This story could have been good but the MH was an asshole for too long in the story that when he -finally- had the 'revelation' that he actually wanted to be with FH, I was left with absolutely no sympathy for him and feeling really indignant on the FH's behalf.
Nor was it really convincing that he could spend so far in the plot blindly refusing to accept FH only to have him change his mind so suddenly and at that point in the story.
The FH deserves better, which ruins the romance...
On a separate note, Lily Bask is a very good narrator.

Diffcult to Finish
I previously finish the three other books to this series and was looking forward to this last book. It was a struggle to finish due to Pippa's personality...a complete contradiction. One minute she's a strong independent woman determine to make it on her own, next she needy and a doormat because Cam won't return the feeling. Her desperate need to make Cam love her was truly pathetic and very sad. Huge disappointment...don't know any woman who would have put up with this behavior or any one that would find this romantic.

Lackluster
I'm a diehard MB fan and am always excited to listen to everything she has on Audible. I subscribe to the Romance Package and found this little stand alone that is somehow missed before. Well I'm sure you can imagine I snapped that right up since it's free for me with the Romance Package. Unfortunately it disappoints in so many areas.
For pros I will say the characters are nicely written and are well rounded Which can be hard to do with a short work (but not for MB of course!). Second, the narration is delightful! I think LB did a lot with she said as give max h
