Publisher's Summary

Laura Ramirez was loved by everyone. The men all wanted her, yet the women didn't hate her. She was just the type of person that was liked by all... or was she? Laura thought she was meeting her boyfriend in a private location. When she arrived, he wasn't there. And whoever was there sent her fleeing for her life under the shadows of the Costa Rican rain forest.

Lela Charles never imagined that working for the Alexanders would involve traveling out of the country. After breaking up with Jordan Alexander six weeks ago, they are thrown back together to find a missing resort employee or bring back her body. They'll have to put their differences aside to solve the case. But Lela isn't so sure she can do that when one of Jordan's old flames shows up to help investigate the case.

Book 4

The author built up speed from page one and didn't let up. The team goes to search for a missing woman. During this time some members of the team are caught in the crosshairs of a very dangerous person. The author is brilliant in her descriptions of this wonderful area of the world!

Under the Shadows

Lela is asked to work another case with the Alexander’s and this time the get to turn it into a partial vacation as they head to Costa Rica on a private jet. Only looking for a missing woman doesn’t leave as much free time as Daisy would like! Jordan and Lela get a chance discuss their breakup and start mending their relationship. As the days pass things on the case get more complicated and intense.
Marla Joseph’s weaves a wonderful story with Costa Rica as the beautiful backdrop. The details and description of the scenery are just amazing. DC Cole does a wonderful job with the narration he really knows how to bring a story to life.

Suspense and Romance!

I cannot say enough good about this book. I was captivated from the very beginning opening scene and narration by DC Cole. The combination is spectacular. Marla Josephs is a very talented author and writes great imagery, suspense and some humor. There was one line in the book that will stay with me for a very long time. This book is part of a series and a standalone listen. I enjoy it very much when an author has characters from one book appear in another and has the consistency of narrator. It is like catching up with old friends. Like a road, this book has many twists and turns in it. I did not see who the "killer" was until confession. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I enjoyed the updates of Layla, Grace, Daisy, Ethan, Jordan, etc

well... I didn't see that coming!

I just love a mystery that is actually a mystery and I had did not guess who the culprit.

Are you looking for action? You'll find it here.
How about some romance? You'll get that too.

This is a very interesting world because it's so similar to reality with just enough difference to make it really interesting.

The first scene is Laura and her getting shot, the investigation is the Alexander crew looking into what happened to her, but we barely see her again in the book. It was odd but effective.

This book can be read as a standalone, there is enough explanation that it makes sense on it's own, but there are major spoilers for the earlier books in here so read in order if you plan to read the series.

The narration is excellent, great characters and the delivery is well paced and natural sounding.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

love in the mist of suspense

Well i have not read the alexander ranch series so i do miss some of the clues but none the less i loved the book, so even though you have not read or listened to the alexander series you can dive into this book and guarantee you will want to grab alexander series and get more insights on the whole bunch (I sure do ). The book has the right amount of suspense and romance. The love story of Lela and Jordan or the build up to it is just perfectly timed with the rest of the book. The resistance that Lela shows is cute and appealing. The suspense with regard to Laura's disappearance is very well done and it keeps the reader/listener to its toes until very end. So when you get to the finish you are a bit stunned on who was behind and why. The narration was also very good and gave a good touch to the whole book.

Marla Joseph’s and D.C. Cole do it again

Wow! You know it is going to be a good book when it’s written by Marla Joseph’s and it’s narrated but D.C.Cole but this one is exceptionally good. I could go on and on about everything I loved about it but I’ll just say Hot Guys, Suspense, Tropical Paradise, paranormal abilities all wrapped up in a strong family business with a great storyline. Just buy the book. I promise you will have of the best narrative scenes ever written and performed! I give it a 10!

AWESOME

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Marla Josephs knows how to capture you in the first paragraph. I’ve not listened to any other of the Alexander Series and yet I easily became absorbed into their family. The writing was depictive and she builds the characters well. The romance took it’s time and when it exploded, it sizzled the ground for miles.

I have to admit I guessed the whodunit immediately but the chase and gather was a fantastic journey to listen to. Speaking of listening... D.C. Cole did an outstanding job!

Two Thumbs Up!
