Publisher's Summary

Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges....

Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover, Vlad, has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold-shoulder treatment forever - especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her....

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity....

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust - the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity....

    "What happened?"

My wife turned me on to the books written in this world the author has created starting with The Night Huntress books. Those had romance and sex, but the story was dynamic. It had depth. It had action that didn't feel forced. Lately these books have made romance and sex the center piece and the depth of the plot has disappeared. Don't think I'll be reading any more of these, but the earlier ones were fun.

"One of Frost's best books so far! a good read"
If you could sum up Twice Tempted in three words, what would they be?

    entertaining hot satisfying

What did you like best about this story?

This book had everything I love from Frost-- it was funny, GREAT sex scenes (and Tavia Gilbert did a wonderful job with those), twisting plot and good characters. Finally, I was really happy that it didn't just end after one of the big plot moments (which you will recognize when you read it). It kept going. This is one of my favorite books by Jeaniene Frost so far...and I've read them all.

    "I need more"

As always, with Jeaniene Frost books I'm left wanting more. I couldn't put it down, until I lost the battle with sleep - but finished it first thing this morning!

The storyline is typical for JF, full of action, excitement and anticipation. There's never a dull moment, or filler in her books! It's interesting from beginning to end - though this one was a bit predictable. I didn't always know what was going to happen, bit I did figure out the who's pretty early on. Other than not being surprised, I was thrilled with this book and can't wait to read more.

    "Even better than the first!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! I really enjoyed the first book, but this book was even better! Honestly, I don't think there is one book Jeaniene Frost has written that I haven't loved. Leila/Frankie is a great heroine. She's strong, smart, relatable and very interesting. And of course, who doesn't love Vlad? Those two definitely bring the fire and electricity. Ok, excuse that lame pun. It's true though. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves paranormal fantasy and/or paranormal romance. It's entertaining, through and through. You get all the paranormal goodness with action, mystery and some hot, sexy steam between the two main characters. This book, like all the books in the Night Huntress universe, is one of those light reads that is perfect for those lazy, rainy days.

For those of you that haven't read the NIGHT HUNTRESS novels, please read my additional comments at the end of my review. It will give you an idea of what you need to read first before starting this NIGHT PRINCE spinoff series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Twice Tempted?

    Too many to name!

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Tavia Gilbert is one of the best narrators, hands down! She doesn't just read the books out loud, she performs as of she's acting in a film.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I don't know. Something that doesn't sound cheesy. I wish the title and cover for this audiobook/book didn't look and sound like it came from the harlequin romance section of the book store. It's so much more than that!

    Any additional comments?

If you love the NIGHT HUNTRESS series, I suggest you get this audiobook STAT! If you haven't read/listened to the NIGHT HUNTRESS series yet, stop what you're doing right now and get on it! Then, read/listen to FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON and then ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS. Once you've finished those, it's time to start the NIGHT PRINCE NOVELS. That way, you won't be confused about anything. I'll warn you though, once you start these books, you will not want to stop!

"Lost its charm after book 1"

I listened to the first book in this series in one day. I loved it. I was addicted to it and instantly purchased book two, that was a mistake. Twice tempted relives the same storyline as book one but without the same intensity. Vlad is still a great character, but his heroin's quirks become more of irritants in this book and her contemporary style makes her seem stupid not funny. I will not continue this series.

    "A Rushed Lukewarm Sequel"
Would you recommend Twice Tempted to your friends? Why or why not?

Only if they loved the first book and wanted to read the whole series.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Tavia Gilbert knows how to decently narrate books by this author. I think she just got carried away with this one with how she dramatized the material. I frequently felt overwhelmed by her intensity in how she interpreted the book, which didn't happen with the first book of this series.

    Any additional comments?

I found the first book entertaining, so I looked forward to this one. I was disappointed. I found Leila unrealistic and naive with her expectations of love so soon into her relationship with Vlad, particularly given his characterization on this subject. The forced angst in their relationship was tedious and annoying, and it comprised most of this book. Their connection appeared more like infatuation and lust, and listeners are coerced into accepting this as love. There were significant plot points with major implications for Leila's character that happened quite fast since her introduction to Vlad without too much reaction from anyone other than Leila's father, and he's not a very likable man. It's as if this book wasn't as thought out as the first one, and the audience was taken through an expedited journey of Leila and Vlad leaving relevant details, backstory, and emotion for another time. Maybe they'll be in the next book. Worth a credit if you like Jeaniene Frost or this series, but don't bother if you haven't listened to the first book or plan to taken on the whole series.

I love Vlad. I always have. He pissed me off on many occasions. The book is slow in a few spots, but overall it's a fast read. It is a typical Frost story. No Bones which made me sad. We do have some Cat.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would. it has a strong story with a very good narrator.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the strength of character and the tussle between Vlad and Leila - the moments when Leila lays down her wants and Vlad refuses to give way - the scene when he walks away and she leaves is so strong!

    Any additional comments?

This is the second book about Vlad and Leila and the strong story continues. Really enjoyed the complex situations and story development. Will definitely be looking out for the next book in the series.

What disappointed you about Twice Tempted?

Having read the first book which enjoyed I was looking forward to this instalment but found that the story line poor and the book never grabbed me like the first. Maybe the next book will make up for this one.

What could Jeaniene Frost have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Improved the story line.

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Tavia Gilbert?

    I like Tavia Gilbert's narration.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Twice Tempted?

    unsure.

    Any additional comments?

Make up for this under par performance in the next book!

    "awesome"

I was actually introduced to this author through this knight Prince series with Vlad and Leyla. I loved it so much I went off to find out what else she'd written, realised these books sit within the whole other story arc of the knight huntress world with cat and bones and promptly started working my way through that series.

firstly if you too didn't realise these books are stories within a larger story I highly recommend reading the whole series in order. I've seriously enjoyed it.

secondly this is my second read/listen to Vlad and layla's story, because I wanted to listen again knowing the fuller context of the wider story arc, along with all the other characters, and I'm really glad I did. you by no means have to, I loved these books the first time before I realised the bigger story existed, but I'm really glad I have read them again within the bigger story arc because there are little references to things that have happened previously that I now understand this time round, because ' I was there' in a previous book, which, for me, just makes the stories a little richer, but as I said by no means necessary.

the vlad and Leyla story arc within the night huntress world is really great and this is another great story. Ever wondered what would happen if you break up with a vampire? is he just your ex? and how do you deal with a break up while fighting for your life? another great story.

    "A real let down"

I got this after reading the first in the series, which I thought was okay-ish, and only bought this as the first book ended with a clear continuation. I love the original Night Huntress series and Vlad was one of my favourite characters, but he was a huge disappointment in this series. I also hate Leila as a character, and rather than coming across as strong and capable, she just seems irritating and stupid. She constantly gets in the way and make situations worse and really can't understand why Vlad would fall for her at all. All in all this was one huge let down and I won't be bother with the next in the series as, at this point, I really couldn't care less what happens with these characters. I just hope Frost doesn't include Leila too much in any future Night Huntress books or that series will be ruined too.

    "Entertaining"

To appreciate book 2 you need to listen to the first in the series. It's not a deep read but it's a good listen if you like fantasy novels. I will need a bit of a break before I decide whether book 3 is worth the credit as vlads blood thirsty pain inflicting behaviour and Layla's easy acceptance of it is a little bit beyond the realms of understandable behaviour in my mind even for a fantasy novel. Still a 4 star read though as it kept me entertained whilst putting up new blinds :)

Love this series and have the next booked for the release date. Lots of mini stories as side lines which keep it moving whilst maintaining the readers interest in the main characters.

I found this book easy to listen to, it made me want to go back to it to see what was going to happen next. Sheer fantasy!

"Another great read by Jeaniene Frost"

I'm so glad that Vlad and Layla have been given a longer story than previous characters of the Night Huntress World novels. Even though we didn't always see a lot of Vlad in the Night Huntress novels I always felt he was a very strong character. I loved his and Cat's friendship in the books so the fact that he has found someone like Layla, who's character is developing into a great heroin, and that we get to read their story over the space of three books instead of just one is a huge bonus for me. Oh, okay...and also because I've always had a huge crush on the grumpy vampire.
Twice Tempted had me hooked from beginning to end. The story is well driven, action packed and full of angst. It had plenty of emotion and as the story moves on I find Vlad and Layla becoming very close to the top of my favourite couple list. If I was to say anything negative, it would be that I wasn't quite expecting it to finish when it did. I read the last line and turned the page expecting to read more only to find that there wasn't any but that is only a minor thing. On the whole it was an enjoyable read but to be honest, I never really expect anything less from a Jeaniene Frost book. I look forward to more Vlad and Layla and I'm excited to see an old enemy return in book three.
