Publisher's Summary

Gina Hall is done with men who won't commit. Ten years waiting for her ex to propose wasted her time. Never again. When her friend Kristen starts a game of Truth or Dare, she dares Gina to go on a date with Ethan, who's amazing and total marriage material. As Gina plans the going away party for office playboy Chris Bradley, she spontaneously initiates a game of Truth or Dare with him. When his turn comes around, he dares Gina to pose as his girlfriend to help get a flirty colleague off his back. Gina finds playing couple with Chris way too much fun. Even though Gina and Chris are pretending, their relationship begins to feel painfully real. Fearing she might be falling for another fly-by man, Gina must focus on Ethan so she doesn't make the same dating mistakes all over again.

Like a Doris Day Movie

Look up "Romantic Comedy" in the dictionary and you will find "Susan Hatler." In this second iteration of her "Better Date than Never" series I was so focused on heroine Gina that I nearly overlooked the fact that the obsessive bride is Ellen from Book 1. What this means is the novel stands on its own extremely well and its own story arc nestles neatly within the larger world in which it is set.

Narrator Martha Lee [AUDIO] again lends her talents to this delightful exploration of the mating dance, handling male and female vocalizations equally adeptly. Doris Day with Rock Hudson and Cary Grant?

another fantastic story

What did you love best about Truth or Date?

The thing I loved best, but there were many, was the first few paragraphs when Gina, the heroine, when she was trying on a bridesmaid dress and because she had overeaten because of a bad breakup, she needed a size 10 dress and she thought "good, just think of all the cookies I can eat".

What other book might you compare Truth or Date to and why?

I would compare it to any book in Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series, because both are well-written, funny and entertaining to the reader and listener.

Have you listened to any of Martha Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and her tone of voice and cadence is well done.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

from the series Better Date Than Never, comes another humorous look at a group of friends who love the old game Truth or Dare.

My first audiobook - Wonderful!

An excellent story, a great narrator and a wonderful overall experience! This was my first audiobook and Susan Hatler's story was funny and real. I will definitely read (or be read to) the others in this series. It took getting used to being "read to" but I truly enjoyed the experience. I strongly recommend the story either read or audio!

Never say "Never!"

I have the print as well as this audio version of the book and I really enjoyed listening to the story as it really portrayed the emotions and personalities of the characters and brought it to life. The story is very well written, very true to life in my opinion. I found myself saying over and over, come on... give him a chance!! And the game of Truth or Date was fun to see which she'd choose and the outcome. I laughed, cried and smiled all the way through the book!! Can't wait to read the rest of this series!

So Sappy

Well if you want a book that's full of sappy, meaningless stereotypes and a story that's simplistic and has been told a million times, then this book is for you. If you'd rather listen to a story with some depth, then find another book.

What Should I do?

The above question rings throughout this delightful story of a bridesmaid of her good friend from work who is planning her wedding. Deep new friendships form, changes in the lives of some of the key characters, and then finally....you will have to read the book to see some major last second choices made! As I became deeply involved with the characters, I will say that I wasn't disappointed in their final choices. Susan Hatlelr did a great job developing the story with believable characters. I plan to look for more of her books. Happy reading/listening!

Fun loving sweet read

Would you consider the audio edition of Truth or Date to be better than the print version?

Yes, I thought the narrator brought more to the story which gave it more emotion than the read did.

What did you like best about this story?

The lesson to look deeper into your feelings that what we true want can be ours if we really take a closer look at ourselves.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Gina had a date the same night with both men and Chris called her out on cheating on him. He was being truthful and she couldn't understand that. I enjoyed their little fight. Then the end when they danced together.

Any additional comments?

This is a fun loving clean book that will keep you smiling and even give you a few laughs. I really enjoy reading this I loved the truth or dare. This is a wonderful short romance with lots of humor, caring, confusion for the characters. Poor Gina has been stuck in a relationship that is going nowhere fast. She decides to end it move on to someone who is interested in marriage and a family. She is oblivious to what Chris really wants in life and who he wants. All her friends play truth or dare it’s a fun game one finds out a lot when one is dared to do things. She must plan a going away party for Chris who is changing jobs, she plays truth or dare with him. He decides to make it worth his wild and asked her to pretend to be his girlfriend which leads to a lot of laughs. She is torn between Ethan her blind date and Chris. Ethan is a sweetheart but there are no sparks he does want marriage and a family. Chris is a playboy who changes women as many times as he changes underwear. There is a reason for this and we do find out what that reason is as the book ends. Sparks sure to fly when those two are together.<br/><br/>Gina doesn’t know if she should go with her heart and the sparks or if she should take the safe road. She has to pick one and take him to the wedding, she decides to take neither. Gina sure is surprised when both turn up what will she do?<br/><br/>I felt the narrator did an outstanding job I totally loved this book but enjoyed the audio more. With the narration you can feel the pain, sorrow, laughs, passion and so much more than if you had read it. Both the book and the audio are 5 star reads and well worth your time. The words flow so easy, the author puts a lot of thought into the plot to give you a little mystery. The ending is outstanding and almost has you in tears. The book flows so easy before you know it you have read/listen to at almost one setting, you do not want to put this down. If you haven’t read or listened to any books by this author you should give her a try, with her humor and plots you will find yourself chuckling and wondering how they will get out of the next mess they seem to have gotten their selves into.<br/>
