Publisher's summary

Claire Nichols endured the consequences of Anthony Rawlings' vendetta. When she first arrived at his home, her goal was survival. Through strength and compartmentalization, Claire captivated her captor. Her resilience in the face of his rule threatened Anthony's well developed plan. He thought he taught her to behave - but domination became desire and Claire taught Tony to love. Their passion and adoration in a world of opulence appeared perfect, yet the reality was a rollercoaster of emotion. Claire's world teetered on the edge of sanity as Antony monitored her every move. When given the opportunity to flee, Claire drove away - a fateful decision which began a well laid plan. Unbeknownst to either of them, there were others who saw past the perfect facade of Anthony Rawlings. There were others who saw the truth.

Conspiracy and unfulfilled promises result in an early prison release for Claire. Not just a release - a pardon. According to the law, her crime never happened! Will it be that easy? Faced with freedom from her past - can Claire seize it? Can she build a new life, mend her broken spirit, become the woman she once was, and seek her own revenge? Or is it all a game? And does the game master have different plans? How does Sophia Burke fit into the puzzle that is Tony and Claire? Will her presence affect the future of this well esteemed man? Can he dominate twice? Is that his goal?

Truth continues the tumultuous saga of Consequences, introduces new players, and uncovers more intrigue. Aleatha Romig skillfully weaves past transgressions through current deception to create a fervent world of obsessed desire. In this reality, can an all-consuming relationship survive? When buried sins are discovered they threaten not only Tony and Claire's future - but their very lives! Will the truth be revealed in time?

Downward spiral of an idiot

You have no idea who thrill I was with the first part of the book. Finally! Claire gets revenge! She even has a sexy new guy in her life and help from various sources. It made getting this book worth it. And then, Claire went back to being Claire again.

I find it odd when a woman is called courageous and strong yet shows no signs of being remotely in the same time zone. Let's put on our spoiler cap, shall we?

A man kills your parents, kidnaps you, rapes you, beats you, breaks your bones, rapes you some more, dresses you, throws your family in prison, then throws you in prison for is faked attempted murder and lets you sit there until you are miraculously freed by someone else. You finally realize he's a horrific person and set up plans to tell the world the truth. Then, all it takes is him blackmailing you, possibly drugging you to have sex (which you think is a dream), you find out your pregnant, and BOOM! You want to be with him again?

I'm sorry? What?

I have lost all respect for this woman. I didn't care about her enough in the first book and the revenge I hoped for was taken... I won't say I'm not a little intrigued by the author's ability to pull the rug out from beneath me but to what end? At what cost? By making her leading lady an even bigger idiot? Is it worth it?

Lord help me I may just have to finish this series. Why? Maybe I have Stockholm Syndrome too but surely this is leading somewhere.

Really loved the way this book developed following the first one. I immediately downloaded the third book.

Love this book! So unpredictable!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Truth to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Truth?

I loved the ending, it was so unpredictable and I definitely didn't see that coming! Too many times you have stories that end in happiness and pure bliss and for once, I got to read an amazing book that was so mysterious and kept me wanting more!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending moved me the most. At first I was confused what had happened, and then when he didn't change his mind and save her at the jail, I was happy that it wasn't the perfect happy ending that most books are!

Any additional comments?

Overall, this was an amazing book with a lot of mystery and although I almost cried at a couple scenes, I thought it was a fantastic book with a great story.

Geez

What did you like best about this story?

I liked Harry a lot.

What about Romy Nordlinger’s performance did you like?

I liked Romy's voice, made the story easy for me to follow.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, breaks are definitely needed for a book like this.

Any additional comments?

Truth wasn’t as crazy for me but there were still some WTF moments for me. Claire honestly frustrated the mess out of me a couple of times. I loved her resolve for awhile and all the new happenings that were going on in her life but after one night it was all gone. I understand the reasons but I still didn’t like it. I loved Harry, Amber and Courtney and how supportive they were for her. I did not like how Claire changed and I don’t blame Emily and John for being the way they were.
I really liked the couple of twist. I’d had my ideas about some things and once they were confirmed everything kind of fell into place. There were a couple of times I didn’t know who I should trust and that made things a lot more interesting.
I still don’t like Tony. The soft spot I almost gained for him went out the window rather quickly. I’m curious about what’s going to happen next with everyone; hopefully Convicted will be another good one.

I had to read more!

Where does Truth rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The story has kept me wanting more, it has been a story with twists and turns. A story that leaves me anticipating when I can hear more Is always a great book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The introduction of Harry and Amber has been like the good guys comming to help. Harry with his compassion, yet lack of understanding, and the huge let down at the hospital made him so real, and just a good guy.

Have you listened to any of Romy Nordlinger’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is first time. I think the performance gets better as the book reads on.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Where does she go from here?

Any additional comments?

Onto book 3 Conviction...The excerpt in Truth took my heart..I had to get into Conviction and Find the Truth and know who would receive the Consequences for the Conviction ! Onward with Audible!

A Compelling Story - that's the Truth.

You don't want to miss this series. Everyone is talking about it and after finishing getting into the books, I understand why. It's a little bit romance, a little bit thriller, and a little bit suspense... but whatever it is, it's absolutely compelling. I couldn't stop listening from one book to the next.

✫✫ 3.5 Stars ✫✫

Well here is my truth, I really want to know where this story goes next but I will not be continuing this series. The books are just way to long for me, they drag on and on when it feels like it could be told in have the time. I might just listen to all the "In His Eyes" books so I can get the cliffs notes version of the story. While I am loving the twists and turns, I truly do not like either Claire or Tony at this point. This is probably because I hate drama and angst when it can be avoided and this book just felt like everyone was making the worst decisions.

Romy Nordlinger is a good narrator but I really think she was a bad choice for these books. Her voice just doesn't fit the characters (except maybe Catherine cause she was older). Also, I have heard may mistakes in this recording. For Example, in one part Claire is speaking to Tony and she doesn't change her voice back to a female voice when she read Claire's part and once I noticed Claire was thinking about Tony and and the narrator called him Claire (I looked it up in the eBook to see if it was a typo, it wasn't). The editor should have caught many of the mistakes I heard that were very obvious!

Disappointing 2nd Book

This review is for those who red the first book Consequences!!

The beginning of this book was very good, I was surprised with its beginning and really liked it. In my opinion thought, Truth started in a high point and it kept on falling falling and a low low point... Claire was very strong in the end of Consequences and in Truth.. But I was highly disappointed by her and her emotions, I reached a point where I was saying: "Are you freaking Kidding me!!!!!"...

Aleatha Romig did a good job with Consequences.. But Truth could have been really much better!! I didn't expect Truth to be like this and honestly its ending was a bit confusing!!! Really confusing!!!

I have started reading the 3rd book already wanting to know how this whole story would end like, and its interesting so far to be honest!!! Go through this book if you want to learn how it all ends!!!

But if I came back to read this series again, I will skip this book!!!

Not worth your money or credits!

This a review for all three books.

Not sure what the author was trying to achieve. Agatha Christie meets Fiifty Shades!

Bought all three books and kept hoping to like the story and the characters. Granted, it was a difficult subject to write about (kidnapping, rape, abuse) but I felt the author did a disservice in bringing in implausible plots in order to pull things together to create a "happily ever after" tidy package at the end.

The characters were one dimensional, inflexible, oblivious and with no redeeming qualities. All the time I was listening to this, I was thinking "Really? Really? The authors writing style was hard to listen to - over the top and the characters were always so extreme on the emotional scale. If this was a movie it would be over acted.

I think the narrator did the best she could with the material she had. Would not recommend. Waste of credits and money!

Glad to be over this series

What would have made Truth better?

The first book wasn't great but it did have some sort of weird impact on me. I didn't really like the characters but there were plot themes that intrigued me. I decided to give Truth a try and I'm happy to be over this series. These characters are just plain annoying. The wealth aspect is the only thing that I think makes people like these books. No one would put up with these behaviors from "normal" people.

Has Truth turned you off from other books in this genre?

I certainly won't be reading the last book in the series.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Romi's voice is way to juvenile/sappy for this book. She would be great to narrate generic romance novels but after a while her voice really grated on me.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Truth?

I would remove every instance of time being spoken as "2 o'clock PM". NO ONE says "I'll meet you at 3 o'clock PM". It drove me batty!
