Publisher's summary

Commitment. That’s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin’s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitressing job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn’t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny’s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can’t keep living this double life. I love him desperately, but he’s got so many demons, and if he can’t open up to me now, then he’ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I’m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.

This is a spin off from the Drew & Fable series...

Three Broken Promises is a spin off of two characters in the Drew + Fable series. The first two books, I enjoyed a lot. I was looking forward to learning about Jen & Colin's story after being introduced to them in the previous books. This book wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as the first two books. Colin was best friends with Jen's brother Danny. They've know each other since they're kids. When Danny died Jen become desperate to move away and escape from all the grief suffering. She was forced to do things in order to survive on her own. Colin lost touch when Jen left home after her brother's death. Colin had promised her brother that he would look out for her. Colin finds her and brings her back to live with him and work in his restaurant.  Colin tries everything to deny his feelings toward her.  She wants more and she wants it with Colin except for the fact he won't get over feeling guilty over her brother's death and it was not even his fault. This was the reason she left her home in the first place. She's giving him a month to get his act together and realize what they have. If not, she's leaving and never looking back.  This is basically a story about two very broken people. They both harbor a lot of guilt over things they have done. Overall, there was a bit of angst, some sexual tension and a few nicely written sex scenes .The chemistry between Jen & Colin was crazy hot!

Sweet but lacked a little.

I like the series and the author's writing but this one fell a little short in that there wasn't much of a story line. The whole thing was kind of "should I?" and "could I?" drug through the entire story. The narrators do a really good job so that helps. It's an ok listen if you have the credits.

So not worth the money or credit

I think her premise of the story was good, but I just could not get into the back and forth of the story .... I turned it off and actually returned it so I could find a better story to read. I found no redeeming qualities to the chapters I had to force myself ot listen to.

weak characters

This story was okay to listen. Weak main characters even side characters. This author is not new to me and I liked her other books just not this one.
