Publisher's Summary

With the public eye fixed on the governor's new Missing Persons Task Force, Detective Evie Blackwell and her new partner, David, are under pressure to produce results. While they investigate two missing persons cases in Chicago, Evie and David's conviction that justice is truly possible for all will be tested to the limit.

Dee Henderson pens another compelling cold case mystery.

Evie Blackwell's reputation as a top investigator for the Illinois State Police has landed her an appointment to the governor's new Missing Persons Task Force. This elite investigative team is launched with plenty of public fanfare. The governor has made this initiative a high priority, so they will have to produce results - and quickly. Evie and her new partner, David Marshal, are assigned to a pair of unrelated cases in suburban Chicago, and while both involve persons now missing for several years, the cases couldn't be more different. While Evie opens old wounds in a close-knit neighborhood to find a missing college student, David searches for a private investigator working for a high-powered client. With a deep conviction that "justice for all" truly matters, Evie and David are unrelenting in their search for the truth. But Evie must also find answers to the questions that lie just beneath the surface in her personal life.

I am a business owner, and an avid book reader. Because I don't have time to sit down with a book like I used to do, Audible has been a blessing! I listen when I travel, when I'm working, or just trying to relax. It's a great experience.

    Story
    "Threads of Supicion almost perfect"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It is one of the few books that really involve detective work without going into detail blood and gore, or unrealistic suspense sections where the killer gets by all the police, FBI, detectives and other law enforcements.

What did you like best about this story?

That Dee Henderson didn't try to have false closures to relationships. (Some don't always end in a perfect scenario) I also liked the way the crime was solved, and the detail surrounding it.

Have you listened to any of Johanna Parker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She really was just as good as her others.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

The only thing that I didn't like, was the long monologue in a couple sections. I finally had to fast-forward to get past the two monologues in Evie's mind and Maggie's mind. Other than that, it really is a great book.

    "Interesting plot!!!"

As for the like or dislike, the plot was intriguing. Thought processes of the law enforcement people at times give me pause. But all in all things are believable. My main problem is the narrators voice, it is really annoying to me. Therefore, regardless the storyline &/or characters, I have a problem getting into the story.

    "llittle action"

it was a good story but a bit slow. will be interested in the re-read to catch the foreshadowing. But first read though is a bit difficult to get though. not even much romance for a story foundation.

"Not loving the Evie Blackwell series"

Not a lot of intrigue, suspense or even much romance. The story was very, very slow, wordy, and felt incomplete. Dee Henderson has long been one of my favorite authors ... but not lately. She seems to have peaked with the O'Malley series, or maybe just needs to go back to that style of writing. Until then it's Irene Hannon, Dani Pettry, Lynette Eason and Susan May Warren for me.

    "Procedural"

I'm a Dee Henderson fan, but was disappointed in this prodding procedural. Not much happens, either with the case or with the characters and their relationships. I would have enjoyed re-listening to any one of the O'Malley series more.

Very disappointed! Story is long and way to many words. No suspense. Usually love her books, but not this one.
