Publisher's Summary

She was supposed to be his one-night distraction. But their attraction is undeniable.

Introverted Daisy McGregor is used to being a wallflower, but what she lacks in style, she makes up for with an acerbic wit, a passion for life, and a deep devotion to her family. So she'll suffer through her sister Dahlia's bachelorette party and accept the cloud of pity for going stag to the wedding.

Out at the pub, sexy bad boy Mason Carlisle is a reluctant wingman tasked with entertaining Daisy while his brother flirts with her oldest sister, Daffodil. When the plan fails and Mason's true intent is revealed, he feels intense guilt - and a sensual spark of desire for the unlikeliest of women.

Daisy decides to use this unfortunate encounter to her advantage: to make it up to her, Mason will be another kind of wingman, playing the role of her boyfriend and wedding date. Will their ruse unravel completely - or will Mason and Daisy's undeniable attraction ignite a scorching love affair that knows no rules?

From Wingman To Her Man!

May Contain Some Spoilers;
Wingman was a good whispersync deal, and I did enjoyed it for the most part. There were a few times I felt the plot was a little slow, and repetitive, especially when Daisy's character went on and on about her flaws. This story contains lots of drama as it follows Daisy's and Mason's fake relationship. After Daisy calls out Mason for being his brother's wingman, she blackmails him into being her "wingman" for her one of her sister's upcoming wedding. (Mason was his brothers wingman, and was only suppose to distract Daisy while his brother flirted with Daisy's other sister. Mason genuinely liked her company, but could tell Daisy had a low self esteem about herself.) Daisy has spent her whole life feeling inferior to her sisters, and friends due to her looks, and weight. When Mason starts showing real interest in her, she does't believe him, but he's determined to prove his attraction is real, even if the end goal is one night in her bed. Mason ends up helping her see herself in a positive a light.

Again, this was decent story, but a little repetitive. I like Mason's character and how he really helped Daisy grow and build up her self esteem by showing her how attracted he was to her.

The narration was great! I really enjoyed Ingeborg's performance!

I have to give thanks to another audible member for the heads up about this story taking place in South Africa. Knowing that going into the story, helped me from guessing for a good portion of the story. Overall star rating 3.5.

Talk About Unlikely Couples

Daisy and Mason are about as different as night and day, a most unlikely couple if ever there was one. But somehow these two work. I was thrown off a bit a first because I couldn't tell where the setting was and because of the last names I thought maybe it was somewhere in Ireland. I eventually figured out that this was in South Africa but it would have been nice if that was given early on. Besides that, this was a wonderful story about two people trying to figure out where they fit in the world and finding the courage to accept that maybe they could fit together. This is my first book by Natasha Anders and I'm sure it won't be my last.

This also my narration by Ingeborg Riedmaier and I was really impressed. She an amazing job narrating this story. Hope to hear narrate more books.

Absolutely worth the credit. I'm really hoping this is just the first book in the series and find out what happens with Mason and Daisy's siblings.

Need a Man's POV

I loved the story, but like so many authors, the whole book is narrated by a woman. I am a woman, but I like to hear the man telling his side of the story....too bad...

An Imperfect Heroine is Perfect!

Too many times heroines of romance novels represent a perfection of beauty most women can never hope to obtain. She finds real love with wit, wisdom, and a wide load. Great book!

Blackmail to Love

What made the experience of listening to The Wingman the most enjoyable?

The South African accent. The narrator did a great job, (I think)...

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I felt the angst of Mason being so mad at Daisy and leaving her.

Any additional comments?

I actually was very interested in the hints of life in South Africa. I even googled life in South Africa. I was embarrassed with myself when I asked my husband why the H/h were complaining about the cold weather and wearing winter clothes .... I guess I assumed all of Africa was extremely hot all the time.

4.5 Stars. "Ugly Duckling meets Prince Charming"

I loved this book! Really sweet story about a girl (Daisy), who's been overlooked her whole life. Constantly compared to her beautiful sisters and found lacking, has left her with a damaged self image, a complete absence of self esteem and confidence. She thinks she's not good enough, and so she has an "I give up" attitude towards her appearance.
Mason is a former bad boy/military guy/ underwear model who has just come back to town after many successful years. He finds himself pressured by his brother to "distract" Daisy one night at a bar, and although reluctant to do so, he finally gives in, only to find himself unexpectedly and pleasantly surprised by the girl. Although somewhat charmed, he also finds that the self deprecating woman really needs to see herself in a better light, therefore making it his mission to help her. When Daisy overheard his brother mentioning that Mason was doing him a favor by engaging Daisy, she is not surprised, but appealing to Masons guilt, she asks him to be her fake date at her sister's wedding. And so they embark in a series of fake dates that unsurprisingly start to feel very real.
I loved the premise of the story, the idea that we're always more than just what we look like, but also that people see what we project, and beauty is not always on the eye of the beholder, but also in the way we see ourselves, -if that makes sense-, and we sometimes need someone to remind us of what we are and what we can be.

I really loved Mason. I thought he was the quintessential gentleman with a hero complex. He really wanted to help Daisy, but he also saw beneath the surface, past all appearances. He is inherently good and honest, mature, with no tolerance for shallow, self centered snobs, and really good looking. He was the absolute whole package.
I also liked Daisy, although her self deprecating attitude and lack of self worth were off putting more often than not. I found her frustrating and a little annoying, but otherwise smart and interesting.
Great Narration by Ingeborg Riedmaier.
