Publisher's summary

The adventure of a lifetime might just end in turmoil, but when it includes meeting your future mate, who gives a hoot?

A Novella of the Elder Races

For a librarian with a focus on rare magic books, Olivia's new job is a dream come true. She has been hired as part of a team to help manage the safe transportation of the collection of books owned by the Vampyre sorceress Carling Severan. The fact that the library is located on a mysterious island in an Other land only heightens the adventure.

Head of security for the expedition, Sebastian Hale is tired of his rootless life of adventure and finds himself attracted to the calm, beautiful librarian. But he is living a personal nightmare. He has been hit with a curse that is slowly taking away his sight, and he doesn't know if he will survive the results.

But the powerful feelings growing between them, along with Sebastian's inner turmoil, take a backseat when they learn there is a traitor lurking among their expedition team. With Elder Races politics and a priceless library on the line, they'll have to rely on each other to survive the experience.

Warning: When a librarian who likes to nest meets an owl Wyr who has always lived for adventure, their romance won't just be fly-by-night...

Love me some Elder Races!!!

I totally love me some Elder Races...the whole series is simply AWESOMENESS!!!

I like the books, far better than the novellas, but the one novella about Dragos was great...

This one, was ..... interesting and fulfilling with the Elder Races overall story... but the chemistry and smexyness of the books is lacking in the novellas..

Totally worth it if you have already invested in the Elder Races series... An easy skip if you have not...

Narration of course was totally on point! Eastlake is the Elder Races...

Great buy or sale... don't credit this... save your credit for a full book!

Sebastian can get wicked with me anytime.

Out of all the novella's that Thea Harrison wrote this is one of the best ones that was written about random people in the Elder series. This statement does not include all the short stories about Dragos and Pia, because those to me are only an extension of their original story. For such a short story this is a great little romance with enough adventure and action to keep me happy. The characters are great and this story gives me a hankering to read the rest of the series again. I would like to see Faedra the Djinn to have her own story, but I guess we will see. Narrator is good, I have enjoyed her from the beginning.

Thea Harrison does it again!

Thea Harrison doesn't know how to write a bad or boring story.
This was fun and satisfying. Her world of nightkind is so well written, and Harrison never disappoints with original characters and romantic pairings. Altho a bit pricy for less-than 4 hours, it is worth it. You'll love it!

Fun short story

This has all the elements of the longer books...great characters, good story, danger, romance. I don't usually bother with novellas. I may reconsider and look into them. Sometimes I don't have the time to do a whole book.

A visit to the world we love

There were small visits of a few characters from the previous Elder Race novels, but the story focused on 2 new people.

The basic premise is that Carling wants a library of hers to be moved. She has hired many people, one of which is a witch librarian, and a security team. Well when the librarian and the head of security get together there are some heavy fireworks. The usual Chaos ensues, but it was just nice to visit with this world again.

The book wasn't very long, but if you love the Elder Races it was a nice little fix.

Narration was awesome as usual!

The Oracle continues

I love short stories, especially after some of these 15 to 20 hr books I listen to. This author has her degree in library science and knows how to write a good romance in short story format. If you love, Sophie Eastlake, a.k.a. Julia Whelan, this is a good story to add to your library from this author.

Head of security falls for the librarian.

Olivia and Sebastian. I really liked them. They were cute together. Sebastian comes off as this bored but super athletic security guy, in the beginning. But soon Olivia sees that there is so much more to him. And when he meets Olivia he comes to life again. Because the fact is, he was bored. But she sparks some life back into him and he falls for her really fast.

I love a Hero who realizes when he found something special and he isn’t shy about letting everyone know it.

Olivia is chosen to be on the team to retrieve Carling’s magical library. Sebastian is head of the security team that accompanies them. It was a quick story, but so enjoyable.

Loving Elder Races novellas

I love the fact that Thea Harrison takes us off quick jaunts to see what happens to other characters we meet along the way in the primary Elder Races story line.

It makes the series seem more "alive and growing". Kudos to you Mrs. Harrison! Keep them coming :)

One of my favorite short stories of the elder races books

Very well done audio version of one of my favorite short stories. They even fixed the one thing that bugged me in the book.
