Publisher's summary

Four brides throughout time. One dress that ties them all together. The New York Times best seller from award-winning author Rachel Hauck!

Charlotte owns a chic Birmingham bridal boutique. Dressing brides for their big day is her gift - and her passion. But with her own wedding day approaching, why can’t she find the perfect dress - or feel certain she should marry Tim?

Then Charlotte purchases a vintage dress in a battered trunk at an estate sale. It looks brand-new, shimmering with pearls and satin, hand-stitched and timeless in its design. But where did it come from? Who wore it?

Charlotte’s search for the gown’s history - and its new bride - begins as a distraction from her sputtering love life. But it takes on a life of its own as she comes to know the women who have worn the dress. Emily from 1912. Mary Grace from 1939. Hillary from 1968. Each with something unique to share. For woven within the threads of the beautiful hundred-year-old gown is the truth about Charlotte’s heritage, the power of courage and faith, and the beauty of finding true love.

Rachel Hauck sweeps the listener away in this New York Times best-selling tale of faith, redemption, and timeless love.

Praise for The Wedding Dress:

"Hauck weaves an intricately beautiful story centering around a wedding dress passed down through the years...considering the spiritual message both on the surface and between the lines, this novel is incredible. Readers will laugh, cry and treasure this book." (RT Book Reviews, Top Pick! for The Wedding Dress)

Critic reviews

"Hauck weaves an intricately beautiful story centering around a wedding dress passed down through the years. Taken at face value, the tale is superlative, but considering the spiritual message both on the surface and between the lines, this novel is incredible. Readers will laugh, cry and treasure this book." (RT Book Reviews, TOP PICK! for The Wedding Dress)

"Hauck seamlessly switches back and forth in this redeeming tale of a shop with healing powers for the soul. As Cora and Haley search for solace and love, they find peace in the community of the charming shop. Hauck succeeds at blending similar themes across the time periods, grounding the plot twists in the main characters’ search for redemption and a reinvigoration of their wavering faith. In the third of her winsome wedding-themed standalone novels, Hauck focuses on the power of community to heal a broken heart." (Publishers Weekly)

“Rachel Hauck enchants us again! Tenley and Birdie are bound together by the understanding that creativity is a guiding force and that their stories must be told. A tale both bittersweet and redemptive, The Writing Desk is your must-read.” (Patti Callahan Henry, New York Times best-selling author)

Evangelical claptrap

I am so angry. This was never revealed to be an evangelical Christian book. The Jesus saves stuff totally turned me off. I am an atheist and would never, ever, every have picked this had I known it was holy roller material masquerading as historical fiction. Beware, unless you're religious, in which case you may or may not like it. I asked for a refund.

Loved it!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Wedding Dress to be better than the print version?
Yes! I so enjoyed listening to the book. Of course, I prefer listening to reading because I can listen while I do other things like household chores or driving.

What about Windy Lanzl’s performance did you like?
I really enjoyed her performance. She did a great job with the characters. I was able to "forget" she was there and feel the different characters in the story come alive.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, nothing extreme. There were humorous moments, sad moments, and moments that made me cringe, but nothing that shocked me. It was an enjoyable ride.

Any additional comments?
This is one of my favorites of Rachel Hauk. It was well written and kept me interested throughout the 10 hours of listening!

A thoroughly enjoyable read!

This is the first of Rachel Hauck's work that I have read. I really enjoyed the story. She developed the characters and storyline at a good pace and even though she frequently shifts character voices and points of view, I did not get confused about who was speaking. It is a great light-hearted listen. Great for the beach or vacation.

Loved this book

This was a book I didn’t want to reach the end. It was humorous, romantic, magical. It didn’t fee like reading a story, but more like being part of the story

A beautiful interweaved story

4 women, 100 years, one family that they didn’t even know they were from one another, and a beautiful God prepared dress made by a simple “carpenter “ that nobody would think anything would come any good of so to speak.
Great story

Wonderful story, decent reader

It is so refreshing and uplifting to find a very well-written story of love, mystery, and romance that has characters of faith and morals! The narrator is a little stiff, but nothing too distracting.
Definitely worth the read/listen!

Life of faith love & a magic dress

It's a christian book for the young. Also about faith in God to carry you through difficult situations. Then the magic of a wedding dress very much like the sisterhood of the travelling pants.

An inspiring romance novel

This wasn’t at all what I expected, but it was perfect for a long drive on a fall day.
