Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Julie Garwood has captured the hearts of millions of listeners worldwide with timeless tales of love and soaring adventure. Now, returning to the enchanting world of her classic love story “The Bride,” she brings to glorious life the passion, intrigue, and rivalry of medieval Scotland....

Resigned to an arranged marriage to a highland laird she has never met, Lady Brenna journeys from England to Scotland certain she will suffer a loveless marriage. But en route to her betrothed, a rival band of Werce, painted warriors intercept her caravan and demand that she marry their leader -- the handsome, quick-tempered laird Connor MacAlister, the same man she'd repeatedly proposed to as a child while he'd been a visitor to her father's castle.

Though Brenna scarcely remembers the secret missives she'd sent to MacAlister declaring her love, she has never forgotten the tall visitor's dazzling, unexpected smile. Now older and wiser, Brenna harbors no illusions that Connor is in love with her -- indeed, after a hasty forest wedding, Connor assures her she can return home once she has borne him a son. Lady Brenna has no idea that her capture is merely the first act of vengeance against her betrothed, Connor's sworn enemy.

Determined to be happy, Brenna soon endears herself to most of the MacAlister clan, despite -- or perhaps because of -- her uncanny knack for getting into trouble. And although she comes to adore her brave, superstitious, gentle husband, she has no clue that Connor lives for the moments she whispers "I love you"...words she never meant him to hear. But, as she sets out to win the heart of the brave chieftain, a legacy of revenge ensnares Brenna in a furious clan war -- and only her faith in her gallant husband can save her....

    "Garwwod is always good!"

The story was fun to listen to. I always appreciate Garwood's engaging characters and infusion of humor as well as a bit of suspense! I confess I had to go back and relisten to The Bride before I listened to this because they have related characters. I believe that enhanced this story. It was an enjoyable use of a credit.

    "A Wonderful romance!"

How can you not love a big, strong, handsome and challenging laird? Love those Highlanders. This love story was definitely worth the time and credit spent. I recommend it to those interested in passion, love and action, though not much.

    "lots of fun"

I love the story in this book. There were so many places that gave me a chuckle that I lost count. The performance was really good. I think it's harder to do male voices for a female performer because of tone and range. This vocal was excellent with her brogue versus her English accent. I was impressed! finding variety was more difficult, but overall she did a great job.

    Great story and reader!"

The story was great, Julie Garwood's normal work ☺ The author was great, with an adorable Scots accent, even if the men sounded like a little womanish.

"A perfect balance of romance, mystery, action, and best of all, humor."

Having just finished J G's last book, I absolutely was delighted with the Wedding! This book is a five on all points, even the narrator. I've found being an Audio member for eleven years that a poor narrator is the most destructive thing a book can have and Garwood and some of my other favorite authors have had books ruined by monotones or just bad reading! The Weddings is well worth the credit and the time needed to listen to it. It's a perfect balance of romance, mystery, action, and best of all, humor!

    "So Disappointed"

The Wedding was the very first Julie Garwood book I ever read, nearly 15 years ago. I fell in love with the story, the characters, and the author. I purchased the audio book on a whim ... I drive around all night and wanted something to listen too rather than the same five songs over and over.

To say I was disappointed is an absolute understatement. The narrator was completely monotone. She made Brenna sound like a completely stuck up , spoiled shrew. The narrator's tones and inflections made Connor sound stupid, and juvenile. Most of the characters sounded as if they were teenagers. The accents were atrocious and kept changing.

While I appreciate the attempt, this audible book will grate on your nerves. Not worth the purchase.

It was a good story a bit slow at times but after chapter 3 it picked up. Good read or listen 🎶

    Story
"Funny, mystery, romance, not best narrator. "

Brenna is on her way to an arranged wedding when she is intercepted by a group of huge highlanders. Coerced into marrying their Laird, Brenna finds herself in the middle of a feud and married to a man that she cant help but fall in love with. Now, if she can only get him to care for her....

Connor is feuding with a man he believes to be responsible for his fathers death. Ordered to leave McNair alone unless he can find proof, Connor captures McNairs bride-to-be as a last insult. But Brenna turns out to be an anomaly that threatens both his peace of mind and his heart.

This is one of those stories that you keep coming back to. The beginning is filled with misunderstandings that will make you laugh out loud. There are a few moderate sex scenes but not too many. There are characters you will love and those you will hate. The mystery slowly reveals itself. My only complaint about the story is that the ending seems rather rushed.

This narrator did a fair job with this book. The book is written in such a way that it switches between the two main characters. the narrator didnt leave enough of a pause or inflection to indicate when she changed characters which caused some confusion.

the original narrator for this book is Steven Crossley. He did a far supperior job with this book. i am disappointed that Audible doesnt offer that version. But even if you cant get hold of the original, its still worth listening to.
