Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals in town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Vampire Sebastian Ellingham wants one thing: to marry Tessa Blythe, the Valkyrie he's fallen madly in love with. So meeting her parents seems like the natural thing to do. He's even looking forward to it, until he discovers they've already found her a husband. Now the only way to keep Tessa in his life is to complete a series of tests meant for a very different kind of supernatural. And failing means losing her forever.

Another great short

This installment was another great addition to the Nocturne Falls series. As always Kristen Painter and B. J. Harrison team-up create a most entertaining story. As always, I look forward to the next installment.

I like this series

I like this series. The narrator is wonderful. I loved the deep voice of the dad and his accented voices are delicious. I wouldn't mind having him join the M K Eidem dream team of narrators.

Nice short continuation story.

This was a nice short continuation story on Sebastian and Tessa. It could have been added to their book but it was still okay on its own. I love the series.

WONDERFUL SERIES!!!!!

Would you listen to The Vampire's True Love Trials again? Why?

I did listen again. The story is good and very well executed on all fronts.

What did you like best about this story?

Can not really choose what I liked best.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Tessa's father and mother gave their blessing to the marriage. What every parent wants for their children!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really.

Any additional comments?

The entire series is a great escape. B.J. Harrison is a master narrator. Whether it is a male or female speaking, whatever the dialect, it is always on point. Kristen Painter's tales are the cake; B.J. Harrison is the frosting. I recommend!

Narcissistic parents— I kept growling while listening

If it had been me I would have told them to go f—- themselves.

Then informed them they would be cut out forever, which is an actual thing for vamps.

Could have been a full novel

It was a short book that was basically an extension of the 5th book in the series. Personally, I think it was a good story and could have held as a full novel if it were longer. I saw several different ways the story could have went.

I definitely thought the parents were being douches, but it had a pleasant ending for me.

Sebastian, the Lover

A rather short but sweet story on how Sebastian and Tessa showed how perfect they were for each other. I thought I'd be bored because of the challenges, but I enjoyed listening to them.
There's also an additional important event by the end of this book, so keep listening!

Cute, nice part 2, but still nothing at stake

Cute, turn-your-brain-off, no challenges fun. It was nice to get the rest of Sebastian and Tessa's story, and great to see him moving on after the ex. It was nice to see Tessa truly confident in herself and her man. And I always love the way each story gives us a bit more of the lives of other characters, especially Delaney, the ordinary Nocturne Falls heroine. The story was sweet, a nice bit of frosting on the NF cake.

However, as is often the case in this series, there's nothing at stake. Everything is easily fixed/solved, everyone is really a nice person who wants the happy couple together. Tessa's history and culture always had a lot of potential (both here and in her first book), but it's never realized. I don't mind the lack of challenges so much in other Nocturne Falls stories, but it's disappointing to see the potential for tension and twists not realized. I want parents/friends/family who refuse to accept their child's choice, but are not otherwise villains. I want villains who are not obviously villains, or not obviously guilty party. I want "challenges" the characters can't overcome in 5 minutes. I want the conclusion to not be obvious from the summary. Ms. Painter can do it, I'm sure. The Miss Frost series, and novels like "The Dragon Gets His Girl" give me hope that future NF books and shorts will have more substance than cotton candy.

Simplistic

Pretty much like the rest of the series. Cute, if a bit simplistic. Good if you’ve read the main line books.

short but sweet

You need to read this after book 6 in the series so you understand what's going on. It's short but fun and it's nice to see more of this couple.
