Publisher's summary

One secret. Multiple casualties.

Everything Melody Callahan has ever been told about her past is a lie. Her father lied. Her husband lied. But like all secrets...they come out. Not only is her mother, Aviela, alive, but she won't stop until she tears down everything Liam and Melody have spent the past year building.

With new targets on their backs and the media focused on their family as the presidential election approaches, Liam and Melody must fight on two battlefronts. Melody is torn between being in love with Liam and wanting to kill him for lying to her. Being in love and showing love are two different things in her world. Liam wants to do anything to protect his family, even if that means hurting the people he loves.

Family is everything...but what happens when they're out for your blood? Everything they have been through is nothing compared to what is coming....

Love, Hate, Anger, Sex, Violence, Mystery!

Narration - Jeff Hays - Kick Ass!
Seriously! I've never heard a man do such convincing females before in my life. This is a very dramatic presentation, not just someone narrating a story. The characters are filled with emotion, passion, lust, anger, you name it, it's there.
Really great job!

The story? This is interesting...
I haven't read book one yet.
I received this audiobook free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review but then noticed it was book 2 in the series. I went looking for the audio version of book 1, but it hasn't been produced yet. This one was up next, so I decided to dive in anyway, and it was ok. I know I don't know the entire back story, but I still didn't feel totally lost. It didn't take long to figure out Mel and Liam and to fall in love with both of them.

SO! This is a mafia story. There is some crazy violence here, the kind you would expect from mafia types. The fun/crazy part is that Melody is a bit of a crazy psycho. She's one bad ass chick and I loved her. The relationship between her and Liam is down right crazy, but they are in love (even though it grates on Mel to admit it) With all the violence, swearing and shooting going on between the two of them, they are still in love and their banter is actually pretty funny. I especially enjoyed the development of their relationship through this story. How they grew closer and more in love and we got to see the softer more loving side of each of them.

The book is told from multiple POV's primarily with Liam and Melody, but there are a number of interesting secondary characters that also share their POV, but it's easy to follow because each chapter is headed with the character that we'll be hearing from.

Neil (Liam's brother) and his wife Olivia and Liam's cousin Declan and wife Coraline take their turn filling us in on what's going on with their branch of the family along with some others to give us the full picture of this family's reach.

It's full of action, love, hate, corruption, loyalty, betrayal, some mystery, some great sex, a lot of snark and really great characters.

Loved it! Can't wait for the rest of the series to be produced! (hopefully with the same narrator)

Quick read

I am enjoying this series so it was a quick read. I didn't like this narrator as much as the first one though.

I Love This Series!

The Untouchables is the continuing saga of the ruthless crime lord family the Callahans. The family is led by Liam and Melody Callahan. Two totally psychopathic killers who have their personal code of ethics… none!

This story is every bit as good as the first and this series shows no signs of slowing, yippee! There are so many characters in this family drama, that the killing and mayhem could go on for quite a while and I’ll be there, munching on popcorn like Michael Jackson, enjoying the carnage.

I was so disappointed that this audiobook wasn’t read by the same narrator who did the first book. It took me a little while to switch my affection to Jeff Hays, but in the end, he won me over with his versatility. His range of character voices in the fully voiced production is truly a wonder to behold.

This audiobook was given to me at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review.

BEST SERIES OF BOOKS I'VE READ!

If you could sum up The Untouchables in three words, what would they be?

Nail biting good!

What did you like best about this story?

A good book is an escape for me and these books are the best escape I've found in a long time. This book and the first book as well takes the reader through many emotions. There is lust, greed, hatred, revenge and a love that grows not only with the characters in the books but also within the reader... or so that's how it was for me. I was a Mel fan in the beginning but didn't take long for Liam to win me over. This series of books are the first I've read of JJ McAvoys and I was impressed at how the story flowed. Add to this the narration of Jeff Hays and I was there in my mind every step or word of the book!

Which scene was your favorite?

When Mel grabs Olivia by the hair of her head and dunks her head in the dirty dishwater!! Never so glad to see someone get whats coming to them!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Rule # 1

Any additional comments?

Other than the classics, there are not many books that I think are good enough to be reread but these books will remain in my library and I'm certain to read (or listen to) them over and over.

Good

I love Melody. I find myself laughing at her craziness. very entertaining read. For some reason the narration sound different than the first, but gets better as the boil goes on.

A rollercoaster with incredible accents/voices

The second book in the series that is completely brought to life by the unbelievable narration of Jeff Hays. I’m obsessed with the story of Liam and badass Melody and could not get enough of the drama, action, steamy scenes, and genuinely funny dialogue from JJ McAvoy in all the books, including Cora and Declan’s story (have not read the kids spin-offs)

I’m so picky about a good narrator as it brings a story to life. While I really loved the first & third audiobook in this series, I gave a little side-eyed at the accents performed in them. Is Liam from Northern Ireland? Kerry? Who knows? He has this random generic Irish accent in each of those books. Good, but not great.

But Jeff’s narration was AMAZING. He does truly convincing women - all sounding different and original- as Melody, Cora, Olivia, and Evelyn (honestly, I kept checking to make sure it was just ONE MAN narrating and not a man and a woman… he even adds these incredible sound effects that sound like real life, like when he is narrating a character who is speaking through a bloody nose) but where he really shined was with a fabulous Dublin accent for the Callahan family members. I’m biased as my husband is a Dub (I’m American) and it was so much more believable to think they were a family of rough and tumble northside Dubliners instead of people with the generic Irish accents in the other books. He absolutely nailed it.

If you’re as picky about narration as I am and love a rollicking, exciting, sexy read, then run - don’t walk to this one. Loved it so much.

better than the first.

I felt more love in this book. the action is packed. It broke my heart when the first needle went in her arm. When she finally put the needle in herself I felt sick along with the heartbreak. I'm glad Liam knows she's alive at least but this book has everything but a happy ending moving forward from this point. Don't get me started on Olivia! I feel for Neal.
