Publisher's Summary

Best-selling novelist Kate Drake is one of seven sisters gifted with amazing powers of witchcraft. Returning home in time for her northern California town's annual Christmas pageant, Kate catches the spirit of the season and decides to open a bookstore in a charming but run-down historic mill. Decorated former U.S. Army Ranger Matt Granite, now a local contractor, doesn't mind working in the undeniably eerie house -- not if it means getting closer to Kate. There's something about the quiet, sensual woman that powerfully attracts him. When an earthquake cracks the mill's foundation and reveals a burial crypt, Kate senses that a centuries-old evil has been unleashed…and that it's coming after her. Though Matt vows to guard her from dusk till dawn, Kate knows she will have to summon all of her and her sisters' powers to battle the darkness threatening to destroy both Christmas and the gift of soul-searing passion her hometown hero wants her to keep forever....

Horrible narrator!

Can't believe how bad she is, the narrator ruined a great story by Christine Feehan.

Great story!

Narrator....not so much. She made Jonas and Patrick sound awful, and struggled to listen. The story was great though!

Sweet Story but narration is distracting.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Twilight Before Christmas to be better than the print version?

Not in this case.

What didn’t you like about Teri Clark Linden’s performance?

She was constantly putting emphasis on the wrong words or too many words in the same sentence. Plus her choice of voices for some of the secondary characters was limited. It was all very distracting and frustrating because I always enjoy Christine Feehan.

Truly Awful Narration

I have to say, it takes a lot for me to complain about a narrator. It has to be a tough gig with all the voices/characters used. But this was really bad. From a bad Joe Friday voice for Jonas to making Abby sound like a five year old, I really had a hard time listening to the story as I was too busy wincing at the voices used.

Love this series!

I love Christine Feehan's books, and especially the drake sisters series. I identify with Kate Drake, being an observer of life. The relationship between the sisters is a delight to read about.

Awful narrator, poor dialog but a good basic story

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I wanted to toss the book after 10 min because of the narrator, she absolutely can not do this book. Maybe if there were fewer characters but not a book with 7 females. The voices were awful.

Would you be willing to try another book from Christine Feehan? Why or why not?

maybe if there were multiple readers

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Too many females to try to differentiate vocally made it .... painful to listen too.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I liked the basic story and would be interested in a sequel with a different reader or a group.

the Drake sisters

It was great to get a peek at all of the sisters in this book. Sarah's story is short & didn't give much detail but this one takes us further into the Drake's world. I'm glad Matt had the intestinal fortitude to stick out the weirdness & see Kate for the amazing person she is along with her sisters. Something's definitely brewing between Hannah & Jonas. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. Great story looking forward to the next one.

Bad choice in Narrator

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Admittedly, I'm listening to all these books out of order... but I have to say that if I had listened to this before the others I would not have continued. This woman sounds like she is reading to pre-schoolers, and gets on my nerves in about 5 minutes. I would love to just get my money back and buy the kindal book to read, but I know that wouldn't happen.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

everything. She is slow, and makes me feel like she's talking down to the audience

Any additional comments?

I like the Author, and the Drake sister stories so far have been awesome. I think this was the last one I had to listen too to complete the series. (I've already listened to the one where they all get married). It's just sad it had to end like this.

Amazing Story, Aweful narration.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I love this book, so when I saw that they had an audio version I was ecstatic until I started listening to it. I thought it would be like the other Drake audio books, Boy was I wrong, it was so bad that I had to stop listening.

What didn’t you like about Teri Clark Linden’s performance?

Nothing!! !00% Nothing, it was horrible, maybe it's because I was comparing her to Alyssa Bresnahan, who did the other Drake sisters stories, but I'm sorry I didn't like her performance at all.

Any additional comments?

They should redo the audio book and have Alyssa Bresnahan, narrating!

Boring!

What would have made The Twilight Before Christmas better?

This is the most boring book I ever listened to. Started reading in September and still not finished in December. The narrator makes the book go slower. Story line just drags on and on.

What was most disappointing about Christine Feehan’s story?

No story line, the first book I ever read that I couldn't finish cause it was so slow!

What didn’t you like about Teri Clark Linden’s performance?

Horrific performance, did nothing to perk up book!

What character would you cut from The Twilight Before Christmas?

All the characters!

Any additional comments?

Give me my credits back!
