Publisher's summary

Life is full of choices- of chances- of moments. Chances we regret not taking. Choices we wish we could change. And then there are the moments that define us.

Kam was my choice.... The one who stole my heart instantly.

Kane was my chance.... The one who set me ablaze with just one look.

They were my moment.... Two brothers that both owned a part of me. Two brothers that I loved in different ways for different reasons. One brother shattered my heart. The other put it back together. Both changed me forever.

Voice

I loved the story but I wish the narrator who has a beautiful voice would have just used her normal
Voice and not this high pitched squeak. I’m having trouble finishing this even with everything being great besides that.

Love it

The Road to You by Melissa Toppen is a full-length, standalone romance novel. The audiobook is narrated by Nicle Marie Blessing.
Meet Elara. Karma nearly destroyed her, it shattered her heart and broke her in pieces. It´s the day she has to say goodbye to the half of her heart. And then there's the brother who puts her back together. Two brothers nearly identical and yet so different.
Elara works as receptionist at her aunts salon and Kane is a successful consultant in risk management. Both are lost over the loss of a loved one.
The Road to You is a emotional read, I started reading and was captivated. This story has it all—tension, angst, suspense and heartbreak. I've smiled, laughed, cried and was angry at some point. It is not often I feel so connected to the characters, but Melissa Toppen has accomplished just that. I love the story, the characters and the words.
I give 4,5 emotional stars.

Heartfelt and Emotional Romance

The Road to You was such a heartfelt emotional story. This one really hit me in the heart. Elara and Kane's story is filled with grief and I'm so happy they were able to find love through all that. I liked the narrator, the only drawback I had was that I wish there was a male narrator, because I hate when I have remind myself that I'm listening to the male's pov. Other than that really adored this one.

Sweet, emotional read. Wonderful chemistry.

I listened to the story and enjoyed the narration for the most part. Overall, it was good, but I didn’t like the dialogue voice she used for Elara; too much like a little girl voice.

Very sweet romance with great chemistry between the characters. At times overly dramatic, but there’s sadness, death and guilt being dealt with, so it’s to be expected. Elara and Kane are both working through the loss of someone, and are connecting in a way they couldn’t before. They have some obstacles in their way, but it’s mostly self made obstacles. I love that the characters are in their early to mid 20’s and have a bit of maturity to them. Kane is adorable! It’s great how he is really there for Elara. There are some really awesome moments between them and I felt the passion between them. I didn’t love how a couple things played out towards the ending, but overall, a wonderful book that kept me interested.

Not bad

The voice is kind of mousey, which is not for my liking. The story is okay, a little long winded in parts. Not the best book by Melissa. I will still read more of her books.

Beautifully emotional

A beautiful story with all the emotion. Narration was a tad slow for my preference but increased speed and did just fine.

Heartbreaking and Beautiful!

Elara never imagined that by spending summers with her aunt that she would meet Kam, her best friend and the man that would shape her life. Since she was 15 they were as close as two people could be until it was just her and the hole that he left in her life almost destroyed her.

Kane is Kam’s older brother and although he wasn’t in her life he was never far away and when he saw what the devastation that she felt was doing he was there to pick up the pieces both for Kam and for himself. Their journey to begin living again is filled with grief, pain and emotions that will first gut you and then make you believe in the power of love.

I enjoyed the narration however at time Elara's voice was a little high for me. I voluntarily reviewed a Complimentary Copy from the narrator.

4 stars because narrator as Elara is annoying

I really enjoyed the story, and found it beautiful, heartbreaking yet hopeful. But, the narration of the main character made her sound like a young child and ruined parts of it for me. I wish she would have just used her normal voice and not used the higher pitched little girl voice.

Bittersweet Love Story!!

Ahh, the age old mystery of how one can be hurt by love or healed by the same...The Road To You by Melissa Toppen is one of those bittersweet love stories that takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride of happiness right on through to painstaking heartache and every other possible feeling in between. It also conveys one of life’s lessons on just how often “timing is everything.”
This was my first read/listen by this author and I have to say I look forward to listening to other audiobooks by her. I liked that this (audio)book was a simple read/listen and overall it was pretty easy to follow. I’d classify this as a great beach read/listen or first listen. I do have to say that at times throughout the book I felt like it could’ve been a bit more in depth or detailed. I think that would’ve made the story feel more real to me. For example, while Elara and Kane were working on themselves. It didn’t feel as though the amount of time passed that had. I wanted to feel that passing time and the painful longing and hope of one day reuniting. I think more detailing here could’ve allowed readers/listeners to experience that.
Ok, we all know that a narrator plays a huge part in audiobooks and can majorly aid in making or breaking one. That said, overall I think Nicole Marie Blessing was just ok. I don’t like bashing narrators at all and I don’t plan on doing it here but I will make a suggestion. I would insist on using your own voice (which is very nice) while portraying an adult female character instead of that high pitched voice that sounds as though the character in book in very young. I think you can and will be very successful in making this simple change.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this (audio)book. It was well written and moved at a really nice pace.
