Publisher's Summary

In a tiny bayou town with far too many wicked secrets, the sudden disappearance of a six-year-old girl is a mystery Sheriff Holt Chamberlain is determined to solve. But teaming up with Alexandria Bastin is a complication he didn't expect. Nor is he prepared to collide with the dark side of Cajun culture-and his own troubled past.

The frantic search leads them to a place said to hold magic, an eerie island where Alex is also working her charm on him. At one time, he'd been forced to leave her brokenhearted. And now, dangerously close to the truth, he'll do anything to protect her from the evil that surrounds them-an evil that might hold the key to sending a little girl home....

Not the quality I expected.

I loved the Miss Fortune series. This isn't in the same class. The narration wss lacking any Louisiana accent for the most of the characters and narration which detracted from the story. Thie author seemed more focused on the physical attributes of the main characters than the plot.

A fun and entertaining listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes.

What did you like best about this story?

This book, the first of the Mystere Parish Series, has a nice feel of the bayou, a bit of the paranormal, a bit of mild fright, but nothing that makes your stomach clench with the whim whams. What I thoroughly enjoyed about it, and enjoy in all of the author's novels, was the nice character development...

What does Ginger Cornish bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ginger Cornish brings the voices to life, whether female or male, young or old, and uses her expertise to lend the proper "raised in the bayou" intonation.

Good story, poor narration

Decent story. Narration was bad, voice was too bland. Reading the book may be better.

I normally love this author but this book fell flat

The miss fortune series and my dad series are absolutely outstanding! But this book fell very flat for me the characters and storylines just never captured my interest
