Publisher's Summary

Ned was confused about his feelings for the two women in his life. Which one held the key to his heart: the temptress, Ellen, or the sweet Maria? They each stirred him in a different way. He found himself traveling all the way to London, England to find the answer. After attending balls and riding through Hyde Park, he finally discovered whom it was he wanted and needed more than the air he breathed. But claiming her would be another matter entirely.

    "Who to choose"

This is a lovely, clean story about Ned's difficult decision - should he choose Ellen or Maria to spend the rest of his life with.
Ellen excites him while Maria is a true friend. With Ellen he feels passion, with Maria he is comfortable and happy. Ellen wants to change him, while Maria is happy with him the way he is.
Which lady will he choose, which one will make him happy and make all his dreams come true?
As usual Barbara Goss has written a delightfully entertaining story, one that will keep you guessing and interested in the outcome and hoping he makes the right decision.
The audiobook version was provided by the author at no cost and this is my unbiased review.

    "Great Read"
    Any additional comments?

The Reckless Proposal by Barbara Goss was a great read. Ned is a man who is confused about the two women in his life. He travels all the way to England to find out if he still has feelings for Ellen or if his feelings are just for Maria. I loved reading their story and can't wait to read more by Barbara Goss.

    "Sweet Western Romance"

This is the second book in the Heroes of Hays series, and begins right where the last one ended. Ned fell for Ellen the first time he met her, and when the second book begins he impulsively proposes to her. Ellen isn't sure she feels the same way, but knows she doesn't want to stay in Kansas with him when her family returns to England. She leaves, and Ned is heartbroken.

Ned meets Maria, and she's the opposite of everything Ellen had been. She's sweet and shy, and she listens to Ned and makes him feel comfortable in a way Ellen never had. Ned wants to see if he and Maria might be more than friends, but he still has feelings for Ellen. Maria encourages him to go to England to see Ellen, but will Maria wait for his return?

I really enjoyed this sweet romance, it's a clean read that can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed the entire cast of characters, and I thought the romance was developed well. Ned was sweet in the way he noticed little things about Maria instantly, and that he never pressured her out of her comfort zone.

The narration is done by a male and female narrator, with the male narrator reading the bulk of the story and the female narrator interjecting the lines the female characters speak. I did enjoy the male narrator, he had a Western twang in his voice for the male characters' voices. The female narrator did well with Maria's voice, but the English accent could use improvement. This style of narration also makes every 'she said' or other clause like that stand out. I received a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

    "Ned & Maria"

I`m a big fan of Barbara Goss`s sweet and wholesome love stories.
Enjoyable story with lots to keep you interested and on your toes. This was the first in Barbara`s audiobooks that I've listen to that was a duel narrative, I personally love duel narrative but I think it would have been made better if the phrases "she said & He said " had been removed.
Male narrator was good, female narrator could improve her accents along with timing.
All in all, I really enjoyed this audiobook and look forward to the next book in the series.

    "A Difficult Romantic Decision.."
    Any additional comments?

This book centers around the male lead, Ned, a difficult decision that he must make.

There are two important women in his life who are complete opposites, which one is better for him?

    Overall, an entertaining read.

    "Sweet love story"

I have enjoyed listening to several books by this author and find them all to be clean listens that reference believing in God and going to church. The narrators for this book did a good job with their various characters and fit the time period with their performances. Some characters I really liked and others not at all. This book is part of a series and is a standalone listen. I was provided with this book at my request and have voluntarily written this review. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it.

    Any additional comments?

I listened to the audio book version of this book. It was the first time I had ever listened to a book that had both a female and a male voice actors. They are known as "The Duo". I found that having both of them reading the different parts brought this book more to life than if one person done it. The accents were off for the woman who read, and sometimes way off, however, I really enjoyed listening to this book!

The story was great! I look forward to reading more in the series! The book ended to me, with a cliffhanger. I was listening and then....audible thanks you ... WHAT? Come on!

    "Delilah or Jezebel?"

In the wild west where a shortage of females prevails, one man can't decide between TWO beauties! Plus temptation rears its evil head. Strongly written characters struggle with their natures and human nature, trying to determine both what's right and what's right for them. Plus we get a peek at the London of the day and its social mores compared to the more egalitarian western model.

I was also captivated by the narrators, a male and female who did a superb job voicing [AUDIO!] the various protaganists (great western, a bit weak on English, accents). I listened on a road trip and had no difficulty following the story despite highway noise and traffic--in fact, my potentially ugly travels were made extremely pleasant.

    "The Reckless Proposal"
Where does The Reckless Proposal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    I would give it a solid 4.

What did you like best about this story?

    The interaction between the characters.

What about The Duo Team’s performance did you like?

This is the first time I have ever listened to 2 different voices and I would diffently listen to them again. The characters became clearer to me this way.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really. I really fall in love with Ned

    Any additional comments?

Barb Goss has a way with sweet romance books. I did not read the first one but this one opened me up to a new author and I will go back and read the first one. "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review" Thank you
