Publisher's summary

To win the woman destined to be his bride...

Catherine Depford is the wealthiest heiress in London, and she is all but promised to a proper English lord...so why is she having dreams of a Scottish warrior claiming her for his own? She can't imagine that her heated fantasies would come true, until she locks eyes with the stranger of her dreams in a crowded ballroom.

A Scotsman will do anything.

Highland chief Gabriel MacBraedon has come to London in search of Catherine, the woman an ancient curse dictates to be his bride. But he can't very well sweep the English beauty into his arms and carry her off to Scotland in the dead of night. Or can he? Nothing is impossible when a Scotsman's passion is making the rules.

So frustrating that I couldn’t finish

This was an interesting premise, I think, and I’m always a fan of a touch of the magical. Unfortunately, though the first chapters were promising, the story—and in particular the hero Gabriel—became quite irritating and frustrating by 1/3 of the way through. He is extremely high handed, seems overly entitled and makes assumptions and expectations about the heroine that are unreasonable and presumptive. In short, he is very unlikeable and very inconsiderate. He is constantly resentful of the heroine and excuses his constant pestering of her with the fact that his people are suffering, but never stops to consider why the heroine, who has never been to Scotland and knows nothing of the people or the curse, should give up the life she wanted just to save strangers who’ve never done anything for her.

Quite a shame, because like I’ve said, the story premise had promise.

Night before?

Ok, so the name is not exactly correct.... and.... there are some mixed up series of events (or of emotions and realizations) that a good editor should have caught.... and no one listened when I scolded them.... and maybe the narration wasn't quite comfortable.... but this was still good entertainment! I truly enjoy Debra Mullins, and liked the use of a curse driving the story.
I'd buy it again.

Good story with EXCELLENT narration!

I really enjoyed the story. It had a good plot that wasn’t totally cliche. The main female character had points of circular “reasoning” that started to annoy (if reading the text I would have skipped a paragraph or two in parts) but then the plot moved forward and it was fine. What I really loved was the narrator! She did a great job with the character’s voices but did FANTASTIC with phasing during the narrative that illuminated the mood and really carried the story. Her accent transported me to Scotland! The narration made the book very enjoyable! I was sad when it ended. :0(
I would recommend this text to anyone who loves a good Scottish story without too much brawn and is a bit of a romantic. This was steamy in places but not smutty.

Clean but still for adults

Interesting subject. Liked the idea of curses being real rather than debunked. Not very deep but the characters seemed like real people with real feelings. Misguided dad.

Going mad never looked so delicious

Catherine watched her mother kill herself and her father prayed everyday that she would not fall prey to her mother’s madness. On Catherine’s 18th birthday she started having vivid dreams of a man with vivid eyes. When she spots her dream man at a ball she believes she is going mad. Gabriel is there to claim his destiny and help appease the curse. A wonderful book with a great ending.

Nice little story

It’s was overall a nice little story. The female lead could have been a little more intelligent but it was still a nice little listen. The narrator has a really nice soothing voice and that made up for any negatives really.

Another great book, by Debra Mullins!

Katherine is a wealthy heiress, she has dreams
about a Scottish Warrior.
She has never met the man in her dreams,
until she looks across the ballroom.
This love story has Chief Gabriel McBraedon
who has to find the woman to break the
curse over his clan.

A very good story.

I really enjoyed this story. A highland curse, a stubborn highlander & an English woman brings together a great story.

beautifully read if not flat where the humor was intended. The narrator's scottish accent was perfect for a scottish romance
