Publisher's summary

Even love can die without trust.

Angel's brother, Isaac, has returned home, and the pair begins to make slow and awkward attempts back to each other. Learning how to be a brother to a grown man instead of a parental figure has Angel adjusting his behaviors and habits, and Isaac still remains a mystery. Was it merely entering adulthood that turned Isaac away from an overprotective Angel, or does Isaac carry a secret that will keep them from finally being a real family?

Daniel Macavoy, Angel's new apprentice, is torn between his bond with Angel and the grasping machinations of his father. Dealing with a traumatized apprentice with dangerous holes in his magical education, saving Daniel may be harder than Angel first thought - especially since the biggest problem is not revenge, but guilt.

The one shining beacon in his life is Simeon, Elder vampire of Boston's only Bloodclan. Four hundred years old and sexy as sin, Simeon is warrior and sage, patient and cunning. The strength Angel draws from Simeon's devotion and the newborn mate-bond between them is steadfast and true - and the fount of death magic that animates the undead lord places Angel in the midst of a power struggle for control over himself, his lover, and his family.

Through it all, Angel is beleaguered by the unwanted attention of a troll-hybrid, the adventures of a dragon in the city, and a serial killer has decided to hunt the back alleys and midnight streets of Boston.

Contains male/male sexual content. Violence, gore, sex, vampires. A cute dragon and some snark. Okay, lots of snark.

Absolutely loved it

I have to confess I am a big fan of both SJ Homes and Joel Leslie so putting them both together is a recipe for success in my book.
The Necromancer's Delimma is a perfect example. The story is engaging, the characters are awesome and the action is steamy! Add in Joel's ability to bring each and every character to life and really bring the reader into the story and it shines.
The one thing I should note here is that this is most definitely NOT a standalone work. It is the second of a series and really needs to be read in order. Don't let that put you off! Grab the first one at the same time and enjoy them both. Trust me you won't regret it.
This is an awesome series performed by an awesome narrator and I am dieing to get my hands on the third book already.

A good second book.

Love how the side characters have their own troubles and seem just as real as the main characters.

The first book was great, the sequel even better!

The Necromancer's Dance was an awesome book and Joel Leslie's narration really made the story come to life. The Necromancer's Dilemma was even better. Loved seeing the relationship between Simeon and Angel progress and learning more about Daniel, Isaac and Milly. Lots of drama but also a good dose of humor. The fae "porn" and the pigeon wars were hilarious. Joel Leslie's narration made an already great tale even better.

Great follow up

So this book somehow still managed to keep the romance fresh and exciting.

I still felt like the developing romance between the 2 main characters was growing stronger with details that allowed things to progress in a way that still made it interesting to read. A lot if times new relationships are easier to write and keep fresh then already existing one and I'm glad this struck a good balance.

This was a murder mystery mostly with well paced Erotic moments to help relieve some of the drama and tension through the story.

I really enjoyed my time with it, although the over arcing story left me feeling very whelmed, not overwhelmed, not underwhelming, just whelmed.

A perfect sequel to the first book!

Angel and Simeon are perfecting their mate’s bond and that’s a really good thing, too, since danger and attacks seem to come at them from a variety of sources.
In this second book Eroch, the former demon turned cute dragon, or wee bestie, becomes more and more helpful to Angel’s fighting efforts.
Daniel is Angel’s new apprentice, but, him, too will have his share of problems with his mad father.
Isaac, Angel’s brother, seems to be a bit subdued after his lover’s death, but he’s still weighted down by a secret he carries and the guilt it holds.

A lot of action, as many supernatural creatures as you may wish and a strong love to keep our necromancer strong through it all.

Enjoyed!

I like the characters and the relationships between them. I love all the action. And what a cliffhanger!

I have only one complaint to the author. Please don't use medical diagnoses if you aren't read up on what they actually mean. Daniel's father does not display any symptoms that should lead anyone to assume he has bipolar disorder. He seems to have lost contact with reality, which may occur in bipolar patients some times, but may also happen in a number of other mental illnesses. Please don't continue the popular idea of bipolar patients as "the classic crazy person". Thank you.

Great addition to the series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I found this to be a very intriguing second book in the series. I enjoyed Joel Leslie's narration, I think much more than in the first book. I love the strength of the various characters in these stories.
