"Clean Werewolf Love Story, Vampires Included"

This is a cute story about shifters and Vampires.

The story jumps right in without much character or world building. We do learn a lot about the main characters throughout the story. We also learn some things about the pack and their relationship with the vampires. I would have liked to have a more complete understanding of the world and the rules, but there was enough to understand the story.

The suspense in the story is interesting and gives the plot some complexity. I was a bit surprised at some of the outcomes of the interactions with the villains. It was not the usual faire. The villain's motives were understandable, but the reactions of the good guys was not what I expected. I found myself wanting to know more of the history and why some of the characters reacted the way they did. For example, when you have a vampire villain (bad guy) and a vampire enforcer (good guy), why isn't the vampire enforcer leading the charge against the villain?

I liked the twist at the end of the story. I am sure it sets up the beginning of the next story. I look forward to reading that one.

The narration was okay. At times, especially in the second half of the book, it was good. At the beginning of the book, however, it was stilted, especially when narrating Darcy's voice. Having the narration smoother at the beginning of the story would, I believe, have made the story flow more smoothly.

Personally, there was an awful lot of making out for a book with no sex. If this was a book about teenagers, I would understand that. Given that this was a book about adults waiting for their mating ceremony, I would have expected them to keep their distance more to avoid temptation, since they were waiting for the ceremony. Also, the making out took away from the story at times. The playing and running together was great and added to the story, but a lot of the making out did not.

I liked the overall dynamic between the main characters. Darcy was strong enough to be a complement to an alpha without going overboard. Mason was a strong, dominant alpha. I enjoyed seeing him trust Darcy enough to open up to her and let her help him when he was troubled.

Overall, I enjoyed reading the story and would recommend it if you like the genre.

Thanks Belinda for giving me the chance to listen to this story.

    "Overall good werewolf story"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Mystic Wolves to be better than the print version?

I do not have the print version of this but I always think audio gives more depth to the books. This is a werewolf story though it is also a romance tale at its heart. This is a bit different in that it deals with a peaceful coexistence of vampire and wolf pack that are quite friendly. Of course there is a problem coming from somewhere and I will not spoil the book by divulging it. Good narration and plot come together for a quick and interesting story. I will say that the very end has two points that need to be brought to your attention: a major question through the story gets a bit of an answer and the book ends with a MAJOR CLIFFHANGER.

    "Wolfy Soulmates"

I enjoyed this story a lot. For me it was just a bit sad. I loved the dynamics of the wolfpack and how the members interact.

The alpha wolf really cares for his future mate and does his best to care for her. The emotion was raw and amazing to feel. Aside from having supernatural wolf powers that I can't have, I could relate to almost all the characters perfect. It was a sweet supernatural romance. I now feel I need to listen to the next book in the series!

    "Solid start."

I remember reading this way back when it was broken down into novellas and thoroughly enjoying them. I couldn't remember any of the plot but I remember Mason and Dev and something to do with Vamps, so seeing it on audio was awesome and I had to listen!!

The plot was fairly fast paced and exciting, though I do wish we had a little back story on Darcy and what her story is!! You are thrown into the story right from the start by Darcy being held at gun point and then a death happening, then some revenge, all within the first few chapters! Then it slows down a bit and you get a feel for the characters and their relationships, and then we are back in action with Darcy getting kidnapped and all the things that follow. I found the pacing to be good, if a little choppy.

Character wise, I liked them all and they were well written but I think they lacked a little development. Darcy is a strong female and is to be mated to the Alpha male, yet sometimes I felt like she was too different characters, one normal girl and the other an extremely insecure girl. They didn't really mesh and it made Darcy come across as odd. I liked Mason too and really liked their relationship.

In all, this was a fun, easy to read and enjoyable listen. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know these characters again and look forward to listening to more from them.

Melissa Moran read the book well. She was easy to listen to and was very clear vocally, but I found that she didn't have a lot of different tones. I felt like she didn't differentiate the characters enough and it became confusing at times.

I was voluntarily provided this free copy by the author, narrator, or publisher. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

What an interesting story, I very much liked the interaction between Mason and Darcy. I did find myself wondering how old they were, they felt young. That’s not a bad thing, but I kind wanted to shake Darcy a little with her insecurities.

Mason does a wonderful job putting those insecurities to rest.

When a threat takes one of the pack members from them the wolves have to find out who and what and why. I liked how they all came together to find the cause. I kind of liked that vampires were more than willing to help and be allies.

Also when the heck was this mating ceremony supposed to be I felt like, come on these 2 Mason and Darcy need to get on with their lives it feels like they are in limbo waiting and we find out near the end. Cliffy by the way! Grrr but it wasn't a big, big one or anything but it does make me want to listen to the next one when it comes out.

I very much enjoyed this narrator too, she did sound a little young but I think she did an overall good job.

    "The Mystic Wolves"
    Any additional comments?

First off…Love the cover. It's nice to have a clear picture of what the main characters look like from the start. Don't get me wrong, I love putting together a mental picture in my head of what the characters look like but it's nice occasionally to have a clear picture of what the characters look like going into the story. <br/><br/> Romance, action, suspense and vampires. <br/><br/> Overall a good start to a series. The story was entertaining, interesting and enjoyable. It started out pretty strong and fast then slowed down dramatically and then slowly built back up again. The story is told in the present with occasional flashbacks filling in the background and history of what has happened to/between Darcy, Mason, the pack and their world. <br/><br/>The relationship between Darcy and Mason is a bit different. They are not mated yet. Their relationship comes across as sweet but completely in love and devoted to each other. Mason is not your typical Alpha. You want your alphas to be ….well Alpha's. He is in most ways, but it was nice change to not have a domineering my word is law, you will obey me alpha with his mate and his pack. Mason has a gentle caring side he shows whenever he is with Darcy. Mason was a likable character immediately. Darcy took some time, she wasn't as likable in the beginning. She does grow on you throughout the story. <br/><br/> What threw me off in the story is that after a devastating event in the first couple of chapters, the story slows down and seems to focus more on the relationship between the H/h for a while before getting into the reasons/person behind the attack. It makes it seem like it wasn't an important life/pack changing event. Which it was. Everyone deals with grief in a different way. Eventually the full impact of the event does hit everyone which brings the story back on track. This is also when Darcy started to become a more likable character and her strength started to show. <br/><br/> Kissing, caressing and making out, but nothing is ever overly explicit. They never consummate their relationship in this book. They are waiting for their mating ceremony. It seems as though many times things might go a bit further but it never happens. It's like one big long tease. So after they are mated we may be in for a steamy ride. <br/><br/>Not a fan of love triangles. So hopefully this series won't take that road. It does end a cliffhanger. Leaving you wanting the next installment immediately.<br/><br/>Melissa Moran did a really good job with the narration. Pleasant voice. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Her voice sounded age appropriate for the characters. Good character voices. Of coarse her female character voices were good, but even her male character voices were good. Actually I liked her voice for Mason more than I did Darcy's in the beginning. I think that was just because I didn't care for Darcy in the beginning though. She was able to bring the characters, their emotions and the story to life through her narration. Very enjoyable<br/><br/>I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.<br/>
