Publisher's summary

It's been 12 years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved. Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed, and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both 14. Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there's a complication to their instant feelings for one another - Will, Tru's boyfriend of two years.

Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can't refuse - travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake. Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the world's most notorious womanizer?

BEAUTIFUL WELL WRITTEN INTENSE LOVE STORY

Ok, firstly call me shallow but the cover picture helped me chose this listen - but the story was just so touching and so much more than I was expecting.

An intense and deep love story between 2 childhood friends who were, and are still, attracted to each other but their lives are in such different places that you can't think it will work out for them and, as she has to chose between the 2 men she loves, hearts will get broken. They were all likeable characters but you can't help falling for the handsome bad boy tattooed rock star Jake whose heart felt emotional vows will leave you breathless.

It's a 'just another chapter' obsessional listen which had me losing nearly a night's sleep but it was sooo worth it. It has sex, drugs and rock n roll - yes there were gripping sex scenes but they weren't too descriptive but they told of their passionate feelings for each other.

Worth a credit? Yes absolutely and it's a definite re-listen book until book 2 Wethering The Storm is released sometime in 2013 and finally - is there a Jake Wethers fan club I can join please?

Hummmmmmm

The book has gotten a ton of hype, thus my download. However.........

I did get pulled in with the first half of the book, but then felt the overwhelming urge to punch Tru in the head!!!! The narrator was very talented, so I do not want to take away from her, but I can say that I will not be downloading the next book. Way too much anxiety and overwhelming angst.

Good Listen

Where does The Mighty Storm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's good. I wish it was a great as Olivia Cunning's Sinner's Series, but I haven't found any books based on rock bands as good as her's. Anyway in TMS it's good but I do get aggravated at Tru because she just can't seem to make her mind up on what she wants.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it isn't that consuming for me that I just have to listen until the end without interruption.

Any additional comments?

I'd rather get this one on sale than use my credit. Like I said eariler, it's a good listen, but I'd rather use my credits on those books that fire my senses.

Torn Between Two Lovers Goes on a Bit Long

I enjoyed most of the book. Characters are well developed - not an especially easy task to do when writing from only one characters point of view. However, I too was ready.to slap Tru as her angst and waffling about what she wanted went on a bit long. Could have used the perspective of Jake in one or two chapters maybe. Excellent narrator. Don't know that I'll be listening to it over again any time soon, but it was a book that's potentially worth a try if you're looking for something a little different in a romance novel.

So much for escapism...

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Take the last third of the book completely out and throw it away

What three words best describe Justine Eyre’s voice?

Good narrator, no complaints there. The story however....

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Mighty Storm?

The break up scene. For the life of me I never wanted to read, let alone hear, such a waste of breath.

Any additional comments?

I listen to these types of stories for a bit of an escape, I've read and heard all kinds before. But I have never wanted to stop listening to an audio book before in my life. I honestly only got to the end because I was listening at work and when it got bad I just tuned it out for a while. WARNING: if you have ever been in an abusive relationship, or lived with an addict or had to leave a cheating partner, and you don't want to relive that experience then don't listen to this book! If the author wanted to make a social commentary about relationships intertwined with addiction and fame then I would suggest she not try to write a romance novel to get her point across. Fiction or non fiction would have been better. Also why frame the story like so many others with the same characteristics of hero and heroine and shared struggles only to almost at the end dunk the entire plot into ice cold water?! Not that these issues are not compelling, just in this example they are a shot from left field. Their inclusion in the story so derails it that any enjoyment I may have gotten from the book as a whole was completely lost! There were no reviews when I bought it, now there is something to warn others who are expecting something different.

Story:Blah, Narrator: Blah, 13 hours of BLAH...

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I couldnt wait for this story to be over, lost the fight with 2 hours left of book I was so bored to tears with it.

What was most disappointing about Samantha Towle’s story?

I dont know where to start, it was a bad story all over

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator was ANNOYING! The 'man' voice made me want to cut myself!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Big disappointment

Meh...

Overall, the book was just long-winded, and seemed geared for a younger audience. I liked the personalities of the characters, but during the dramatic moments, they became stupid and unrealistic.

Another big problem was the monolog and main characters internal talk; it was just o-ver-kill... The author should have quit over-describing every detail of Tru’s thoughts, Jake, and the set up scenes, and move along with the story. The basic plot wasn't bad, until the author kind of wrecked the story with all that mind numbing brain chatter.

I wasn't a big fan of the narrator either.

In the eye of the storm ...

I love Jake and Tru. The story was captivating and hard to put down. I also loved the supporting characters ... Stewart was brilliant and always one step ahead of the two of them, and Simone was every bit the best friend you want in your corner. Great listen.... I think I might have to reread this before I move on to my next book.

I also thought Jane Eyre did an amazing job of portraying each character and giving them depth, from the main characters to the body guards. Each character was well developed and brought to life through her spoken words.

just okay.

it was okay. i think the story was fine, but it was the narrator that did it for me. her voice is too old for this character and i kept feeling grossed out during sex scenes with this deep, but far-from-sultry voice describing everything. it was killing me. ::sigh:: maybe they'll get smart and switch for the next book because i doubt i'd consider listening to it if they choose the same gal. sorry. i'd rather read it.

This book was WONDERFUL !

This book was such a WONDERFUL surprise ! I do not know the author. I bought it because I am a big fan of the narrator Justine Ayre. But I was pleasantly surprised! I am not agog fan of rock stars, but this book makes you fall in love with one! This book was so well written , exploring the difficulties in celebrity personal relationships. The plot was good, the interactions and the characters, all well well well written. I LOVED IT.
Moreover, Justine Eyre is such a good narrator, but with this book she had outdone herself !!! She did such an excellent job with this book. She improves each time I listen to her. Well done! I believe this book is part of a series , I can not wait !
