Publisher's summary

Talia has a secret that will save her world or rip it apart.

Scientist Talia Zaryn has always dreamt of an alien invasion and her own death. She's kept it secret, hoping it is nothing more than childish nightmares. However, when the face in the mirror matches that of her dreams, she fears she's out of time.

Talia's work at the Space Exploration Foundation leaves no time for relationships, but Landry Sutton isn't looking for a friend. He's looking for a traitor. His ability to sense emotions convinces him Talia is the traitor until a touch sizzles between them. In an instant, their minds are connected telepathically.

Together they must uncover the secrets of Sendek's past if they hope to defeat the terrifying creatures descending on their world. Talia is the key - if she can learn to trust the magic coursing through her veins.

I loved this story

Talia lived a life of sadness. Loosing her whole family was bad enough. Add a set of unforgettable eyes & she is destined for greater things. When Landry came into her life I hoped it would get better for her. Then the loss of her adorable pet was the beginning of her adventure. She fought monsters, gathered a mass of mages & woke up a dragon. Great story that I highly reccomendl. I also really liked the narrator. Fantastic job.

I Am Certain That This Story Should Continue

For starters, I have not come across this genre since “Dragonriders”. And this is the first audiobook since “Harry Potter” that I have reviewed. So let me tell you that this is a fine addition to lend an ear too. Simply because the heroine is just quirky enough to keep me entertained and the pace has me hooked.

BOOK 1 WAS REALLY GOOD. LOVED IT

LISTENERS REALLY NEED TO HEAR TO BOOK 1 BEFORE BOOK 2. EVEN THOUGH EACH DOES STAND ALONE. THEY DO EDGE TOWARD A CLIFF HANGER WITH THE DRAMA, INTRIGUE AND SUSPENCE.

ACCEPTABLE FOR TEENS AND UP.

NARRATOR IS GREAT AND EASY TO FOLLOW.

Fantasy with Sci-Fi elements

Talia and Landry start out as adversaries but realize they'll have to trust each other in order to defeat the enemy who would destroy their world. This first book brings back the magic which had been banned, and replaced by technology. In the end, hundreds of the magically enabled are free to use their talents and teach others. I think that will be a problem to be solved in Book 2.

Sci-fi & Fantasy well blended

The characters had great chemistry. Dragons, spaceships, and magic. A great futuristic fantasy that I enjoyed a great deal.

An engaging romance w/ fantasy and sci-fi elements

Charity Bradford writes an engaging romance with fantasy and sci-fi elements. I don't typically read romances but the premise seemed interesting and I'm glad I did. The wide range of characters are well developed, the scenarios are interesting, and the overall world is an interesting mix of fantasy and sci-fi. I look forward to reading book 2! Audio Version: Ian McEuen does a great job narrating this novel.

Exciting Sci-Fi Fantasy

I enjoyed this first book in "The Magic Wakes" series. Charity Bradford has written a creative story about a female scientist who has nightmare of an alien invasion and the man who is looking for the members of the organization that are traitors to the government. The world building was fascinating. The tale moved forward with plenty of action, flashes of humor, and some romance. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Ian McEuen's narration was great and enhanced the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Romance and Magic go together!

I love all the characters! I was heartbroken when Keta died. I enjoyed the way a world without magic is saved by it. I can’t wait to read book 2, and see how they all learn to get along to continue in a harmonious world. Thanks for the romance along with the science fiction and fantasy!

Most Definitely a fan...

It took a little while for this book to really get cooking. But once it did, I was hooked. It was really cool how it blended many different genres of books that I like to make a really cool book. I would love to read/listen to more from this author. The narrator also did a pretty good job. I love a narrator who you can understand whether you have the speed at 1.00 or crank up the speed to past 2.5. That, for me, is one of the best indicators of how much I love the narrator and he was great. Also, he was very pleasant to listen to and brought a good amount of life to the story. Overall, I definitely recommend it! It's a great story.

This book was given to me upon my request. I am providing a voluntary and honest review. No one is paying for my reviews... I wish they were... I'd say anything that wanted! lol (Kidding... mostly lol)
