I enjoyed this audiobook overall. First, teacher/student is right up my alley, so I was excited to listen. There are a couple things I would say, though. I can suspend my disbelief with the best of them, but this book just didn’t unfold naturally. It felt a bit jagged. I also found the h to be unrealistically timid and sweet - to the point of exhaustion and a little eye-rolling. The H seemed to protest too much. I got the “poor me,” whiny vibe from him. The steamy scenes are just odd and not at all believable IMO. I think the premise was there, but she went overboard with the characters’ traits. I think I understand what the author was going for - based on the FSOG reference on the cover - but I really didn’t feel any darkness or serious drama. Technically, it was a teacher/student romance, BUT it lacked the forbidden factor, which is why love them to begin with! I was really hoping for more. Katy did a great job!!

I wanted to like it
I had high hopes for this title, unfortunately I found it to be a bit milk toast 50 shades 😕. Highly improbable; timeline was ridiculous. I kept waiting for the great punch, but it never quite came.

Katy's work was great!
A teacher-student romance that will keep intrigued from the very first lines. a rollercoaster of emotions, angst and a little suspense is the feeling you get when you read The Ivy Lessons... Sophie and Mark felt for each other even if they tried so hard to stay out of each others path.. but life and circumstances made this explosive attraction impossible to stop. They have to hide, and keep their feelings to themselves, making their relationship a little riskier and even uncomfortable at times.. she doesn't want to hurt his career, he wants to protect her at all costs.. This is only the beginning of Sophies and Mark story we still have so many questions that need to be answered and I'm sure that in the next books we're going to find out.
