Publisher's summary

With his long, black hair and dark, mesmerizing eyes, Adam Black is Trouble with a capital T. Immortal, arrogant, and intensely sensual, he is free to roam across time and continents in pursuit of his insatiable desires. That is, until a curse strips him of his immortality and makes him invisible, a cruel fate for so irresistible a man. With his very life at stake, Adam's only hope for survival is in the hands of the one woman who can actually see him.

Enter law student Gabrielle O'Callaghan. For Gabrielle, cursed with the ability to see both worlds, Mortal and Faery, it is the beginning of a long, dangerous seduction. But as Adam's quest to regain his immortality plunges them into a world of timeless magic, the price of surrender could be their very lives. Unless they can thwart the conspiracy that threatens both Mortal and Faery realms...and give them a shot at a destiny few mortals ever know: glorious, wondrous, endless love.

Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

Critic reviews

"Moning excels at crafting sexy, brawny and brainy Scotsmen, and Adam Black in his Highland blacksmith glamour is one of the best. There's enough sexual tension here to fuel half a dozen normal romances." ( The Contra Costa Times)
"Nonstop action for fans of paranormal romance: another lusty fantasy from Moning." ( Kirkus)

Best of the Series

Adam Black is a very good main character. The heroine, though somewhat week, is pretty decent and there is enough humor to see you through.

I think that the narrator finally figured out female voices and Gabby didn't sound nearly as hysterical as some of the previous female characters and he has an excellent voice for the narrator's role. It seemed like some of the characters' accents weakend as the story progressed, but I've also read the book and it's actually the writing that changes the Scots burr for example, it's not written with that much of an accent. I was very happy that Adam had a better voice than in earlier books.

Although, this series is very formulaic -- girl meets guy, guy needs girl to solve a problem, girl & guy fall in love, guy killed/taken away, girl & guy get back together, girl ends up pregnant, this book did it better than the rest of them and the epilogue was a nice touch.

If you like the series, you won't be disappointed in this one.

worthy of a review

Where does The Immortal Highlander rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the best book so far! The others 5 were well written and creative. Book six however, pulled it all together for me. I listened while painting a room and had to stop dead in my "strokes" to wipe a tear. This has never happened to my multitasking. 8-)

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved "visualizing" the first time the "sifted time" together. Especially the tadpole incident. Of course, the anticipation of the steamy love was perfectly executed as well as bringing in the McKelter's.

My Favorite of the Series So Far!

Any additional comments?

Narration - Phil Gigante - Pretty Good.

Oh these just keep getting better! This book is about the sexy, ornery, Adam Black. It really does help to read/listen to these in order. :)

Adam is punished by the Fae Queen, stripped of his powers and forced to become/live with the "humans" Except he finds out they can't see him, touch him, talk to him and visa versa.

He's determined to find his son to get his help in getting back to the Queen, but no humans can see or hear him! He's in a real pickle. BUT WAIT! He runs into Gabby who is a - now I don't know how this is spelled, but the narrator has been pronouncing it - She-seer. She knows better than to look at "the Fae". Her whole life, she's been taught to pretend she can't see them. But she see's Adam except, he's different. His eyes aren't iridescent like a Fae's eyes should be and she looks just a little too long and get's busted by Adam.

She's scared because she's been taught the Fae will hunt her down and kill her, but Adam won't leave her alone! Then commences the wooing, and my but he's a good wooer.

So...my only problem with the premise of the book is...

(OK...now what's coming up is a spoiler, so if you haven't listened yet....stop right now!!! )

...the whole soul deal - if you're immortal...you don't need a soul. You're immortal!!! There's no need to have a soul that passes on into your next life because there is no next life...you're immortal!!! So needless to say, I thought they should have all stayed immortal and lived happily ever after - forever - it's hell getting old!

But that certainly wasn't enough to make me not love this book!

I loved it!

That is all!

Hot Fairy Tale

Liked the male voices, wish they would have hired a female to do the female speaking parts.

Narration superb!

I listen to audible books quite often. I did not know what I was missing until I heard this narrator. There was realistic expression, dynamics which included scottish burr, shouting and even sexy purring, variation from character to character.........all keeping you engaged and perfectly aware of who was speaking. I will be hard pressed to find anyone as entertaining. Thank you Phil Gigante for giving me a reason to write a review. Bravo 👏 👏 👏

A Most Spellbinding Tale!

I am totally in love with this book and series. I couldn't put this book down, I laughed, cried and was thrilled at the end (didn't see it coming). In the beginning of this series I absolutely disliked Adam Black. By this book I was confused about how I felt until now, love Adam Black. Karen Marie Moning and Phil Gigante work sheer magic together. You really need to read this book.
