Publisher's Summary

Ever wonder how much your life would change if you won a million dollars? Well, that fantasy is about to become reality for one lucky winner of the new reality game show The Haunting. Six people will enter the contest, but not everyone will win. In fact there can only be one winner. A drug dealer, an exotic dancer, a drug addict, an entrepreneur, a district attorney, and a rich kid are each desperate in some way, whether they need the money or are looking for something different and need breaks from their boring everyday lives. It may seem that these contestants have nothing in common, but that's not the case. They have one very important thing in common: their desperation to win the prize. But winning the money is going to be anything but easy. Not only will they have to spend a full 24 hours together in a haunted mansion, but they will have to overcome their weaknesses and make alliances with their competitors just to survive.

The many people who have visited Waverly Mansion have gone missing and never returned home to their loved ones. Are these contestants so desperate that they would risk their lives just to win money? A million dollars can mean the difference between life and death to some people, but there are many questions you need to ask yourself. Is the money worth the torment and anguish you will have to endure in order to win? What about your life? Is dying the price you are willing to pay in order to win that amount of money? Can these people survive long enough to claim the prize? Or will their desperation take hold of them and sabotage the others' chances at winning the game? Who deserves to win the money when no one is really the person he or she appears to be?

Lou made this book even sexier

Would you listen to The Haunting again? Why?

Hell yes I would, listening to Lou is just heavenly.

What did you like best about this story?

The way Lou jumped from character to character... not only did he just read the book, but each character had it's own voice,as performed by Lou. He did such a good job that I wasn't confused as to who was talking at the time.

Which character – as performed by Lou Schocken – was your favorite?

I loved all of the charcaters performed by Lou, but my all time favourite would have to be Jase... when he was reading out Jase's parts, I had to pause them & re-listen, it was truly sinful & delicious all at the same time.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not everything is as it seems

Any additional comments?

Please Nicole have Lou as the narrater of ALL your audiobooks, he just makes your books soooo much better. What I had read was amazing & what I had listened to made that amazing book become spell binding.

Awesome Audio!!!

Any additional comments?

The Haunting was a uniquely suspenseful short story that had me listening to it until the end. The characters, twists and turns sucked me in!!! What really is the house like? Who will disappear next and will anyone win the money? I was thrilled to have a chance to listen such an interesting and well written story. The narrator, Lou Schocken has a fabulous voice and it made the story more exciting!!! I highly recommend this audio to anyone who is looking for a suspenseful story with a twist.

Good Suspenseful Short Story!

3.5 STARS

I enjoyed the story line a lot. The mystery was fun, I had no idea what was going on which makes for good suspense. The sex was a little far fetched but was hot regardless! I gave this book 3 stars because there wasn't anything specific that I loved about it and because I can't give 3.5 stars. The characters were fun but the book was too short for me to be able to get attached to them. If this book had been longer I think it would have been a solid 4 star book. It felt a little jam packed for a 2.5 hour audio, there was so much going on so fast that I really had a hard time getting into it and just as I did, it was over. I would have liked to get to know the characters more and would have loved to have the circumstances drawn out more to make it even more suspenseful. The way I felt about this book may also be a result of the narration. Lou Schocken has a great voice and a lot of range but I think he made this book seem a little choppy and he did nothing to help me get attached to the characters.

Great curl up on a cold or rainy evening story!

Lou Schoken narrates 'The Haunting' beautifully. I was immersed into each of the personal stories of the characters immediately. His voices, tone, and pace were consistently clear, multi-dimensional, and vivid. It never felt like the story was being narrated, I simply experienced the story. The story moved along smoothly and at an interesting pace; Nicole Garcia doesn't waste too much time dwelling on things that slow down the action. I was pleasantly surprised and relieved by the story's resolution, as Garcia stays true to the dynamic humanity we all share, from the beginning, on to the end. 'The Haunting' is a story filled with suspense, surprises, tension, and emotion~ and definitely a fun listen!

Whole new level

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you thought the book was good wait until you here it on audio, I couldn't recommend this enough. I was hooked from the beginning. Highly recommend

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Haunting?

There were several, but I think when everyons true agenda were starting to be exposed & nothing was as it seemed.

Which scene was your favorite?

I would say, the audio brought a whole new level to the more intimate scenes, very enjoyable :)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely... I did listen to it in one setting, Lou's voice & understanding of the characters were amazing.

Any additional comments?

If you think this is your average, Haunted House story, you couldn't be more wrong. Nothing is as it seems, not even the characters. There is so many twists & turns in the story...it surprised me numerous time. Lou's rendition & interpretion of the book were dead on. This is a match made in audio Heaven. Thank you Nichole & Lou

Suspenseful heat.

Oh my. This story has it all: mystery, suspense, action and sexy time. So many twists and turns, but not enough time! It almost hard to keep up with so much story line in such a small time frame. I wish the book was longer so I could really connect with the characters...there are so many! There's a good plot there and I just wish the book had been longer to explore it in further detail. Kai and Wen's performance was, as always, superb. They do a fantastic job here with this Nicole Garcia audio as usual.

Takes you for a ride!

The setting of this book is what caught my eye at first. Being a romantic suspense listener, I couldn't wait to see how Nicole Garcia wrapped a reality show into this novella. Stay in the house overnight and be the only one left in the house and you win $1 million! Doesn't sound that hard, but from the start, there is mystery and intrigue. Jace and Kelly are two that want that money no matter the consequence, but as they see their competitors leave the competition one by one, things get crazy..and they become crazy for each other! With all romance and suspense, this short will keep the you entertained!

Lou Shocken has a wonderfully deep voice and sets the mood for this thriller. He kept the pace, fear and passion going throughout the story.
