Modern Day meets Medieval Times

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Sure. The great things about audiobooks is you don't have to stop what you are doing. So the time is not wasted.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I liked the prospect of the different time periods coming together. I didn't need the explicit descriptions of bedroom scenes. (I have a great imagination)

Did Hollie Jackson do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I thought Ms. Jackson did a nice job. I enjoyed her attempt at the Scottish brogue. She was able to pull off the comedic/witty dialog. Ms. Jackson was also able to convey the spunky and sometimes whiney side of our heroine.

Ms. Jackson has an interesting tone and rhythm to her narration. Sometimes sounded like she was tired of the book during long narration. Dialog sections were usually not performed like this.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Depends on who produces it. Starz or HBO...no. I thought the idea of the book was great.

Any additional comments?

Beauty of Ireland - Past and Present

The Guardian Shadowstone Legend will grab the attention of the readers and listeners. The story begins with a forbidden love between a human and a fae, who is betrothed to marry another fae and the theft of the shadowstone. Several centuries later, Rebecca is searching for her missing mother. The last correspondence from her mother was in Ireland.

As Rebecca inquired the where about of her mother, she awakened Cailen. Cailen is the Guardian, assigned to protect her from the fae realm. Rebecca doesn't believed in faeries and discovered that she is a descendant from one. When Rebecca realized that she is being attacked by invisible foes, she has to rely on Cailen to protect her.

The story gives beautiful description from the castle ruins to what it would have look like in Cailen's time. Each of the cryptic riddles brings the readers/listeners to see through Rebecca's eyes and then Cailen's of the differences between ancient and present Ireland.

Another thing about the story is that the course of events take place over a year. Even though Rebecca and Caileen are attracted to each other, the courtship of their relationship is believable. Their relationship developed from being uneasy with each other to where they fell in love. This is something that that most stories will not do. Most stories will give the characters a few months of falling in love during the story's conflict and plot.

It also give the realty from Rebecca's POV. Even though she has Cailen and her two other friends and their dog, Rebecca does feel alone especially when Cailen has been avoiding her. Rebecca doesn't admit to Cailen that she feels lonely until he overheard her talking to his dog. Rebecca gave up her career and life due to the threat on her life just as Cailen gave up his to become the Guardian.

The narrator, Hollie Jackson does an excellent job in narrating the story. The narrator provided several different voices including the two main characters.

Any additional comments?

Angela Aaron has done a beautiful job with this story. I'm not generally fond of stories about the Fae but I do love my Highlanders and the blend of the two in this book is perfect. Rebecca and Cailen are made for each other. They are both headstrong and sometimes you just want to smack them. Then their hearts show through and redeem them. The supporting characters are all interesting and strong on their own, and they insert themselves firmly into the story line. This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the first paragraph and I will definitely be continuing on with this series. Very well done.

What an awesome story.

My daughter and I listened to this on our trip and we both fell in love with all the characters. Needless to say we want more. More background and stories on the whole cast of characters.

So now on to other books from this author and see if they are just as great as this one. Thank you for such a wonderful book.

Awesome Story on Audio!!!

Any additional comments?

This was one of the coolest audios I’ve listened to in a long time….Hollie Jackson has a wonderful voice that brings the characters to life!!! I adore everything Scottish, and this audio had it all!!! This story definitely had awesome historical research, magic, danger, interesting characters and most of all, one hot Guardian!!! Rebecca and Cailen, are thrown together as she searches for her missing mother, who is somewhere in Scotland. There is a cryptic letter and a necklace holding a strange stone, left to Rebecca by her missing Mother. She travels to Scotland, and ends up in an old Inn. Rebecca needs to find answers, and begins questioning the locals. When Cailen shows up, she is intrigued, especially since there seems to be an instant attraction. They are both strong willed and must face multiple obstacles to find the answers they are seeking. This audio kept me engaged, and I did not put it down until I finished it!!!. Congratulations Angela…it was a wonderful audio!!!
Also, I read her fabulous book first, and listening to it is so cool. You can pick up those subtle nuances that you might have missed reading it. I highly recommend doing this....as a reader, you can get more of the the experience.
