Publisher's Summary

Take the leap.

She's got her feet planted on the ground. He'll teach her to fly.

Jessica, a curvy, driven, neat-freak lawyer is ecstatic when she finally gets her dream job - even though it's taking her away from her hometown. When she meets over-the-top, man-mountain Mikey, a fitness buff and veterinarian with a messy life in all senses of the word, she thinks she just walked into the second-most exciting adventure of her life.

His larger-than-life personality fascinates her, but also shakes the foundations of her quiet, introverted self, knocking her off-kilter. It's a bad idea to let him take her on as a weight-loss client. It's an even worse idea to get involved with him since he's her manwhore roommate...and she's seen him in action.

If they give into their undeniable attraction, is it just a train wreck waiting to happen? Or will their desire fuel a chance at real love?

If you love steamy romance, be sure to check out the fourth standalone in the Giving You series.

Fantastic!

To say that I love this story is an understatement. I adore it. I felt so connected with Jessica. We have a lot in common and it was surprising to see that I'm not alone when it comes to body image issue or food issue.
I will listen to this audiobook again and again.

The narrators did an amazing job. Tor Tom And Charley Ongel never disappoint. They offer the perfect emotions throughout the story.

I highly recommend it

New Beginnings

Where does The Ground Beneath Our Feet rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I very much enjoyed the story line and enjoyed listening to another book narrated by Tor Thom! He's one of my autobuys. I love his voice and Charley Ongel was amazing!

What did you like best about this story?

This story is about two different people who are trying to move on from their pasts. I enjoyed this story and how it shows a woman who doesn't think she can control her urges and doesn't think she's beautiful Jessica. And Mike helps her to see the beauty in herself. As well as Jessica soon helps Mike to get thru his past endeavors.

Which character – as performed by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel – was your favorite?

I enjoyed all of them. I love how they brought the characters to life

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Wanted to like this, but it just wasn't for me

What did you like best about The Ground Beneath Our Feet? What did you like least?

The best part of The Ground Beneath Our Feet was the narration by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel. Tor especially was incredible and has such a deep and smooth voice. *swoon* I would not have been able to get through this book without their wonderful performances.

What was most disappointing about Leslie McAdam’s story?

I just couldn't connect with the characters or story. I did not feel invested in Mikey or Jessica and found the pacing to be really slow. There was nothing that caught and held my attention after the initial meeting of our characters. For most of the book, I actually felt like Mikey was just really creepy. I did like that he always saw Jessica for who she was though. Toward the end, I did end up liking the characters more, but by that point it was too late.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Mikey and Jessica "meet" for the first time. That was surprising and hilarious (though I was not impressed with Mikey's treatment of Cherry) and gave me high hopes for the book. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there.

Any additional comments?

This book deals with some very emotional issues (like abuse, alcoholism, etc). I liked the overall message of the book and that the characters were both trying to battle their demons and live healthier lives. I really wanted to like this book, but sadly, it just wasn't for me.

Thought provoking

This book was thought provoking. Nothing like I thought it was going to be, but very interesting to watch our main female character deal with issues that I'm sure many will be able to relate to, to some degree and on some level. For some reason, I found it more...thought provoking. It didn't really conjure up any emotions, but more...thoughts.
Tor Thom has a great voice and did a nice job. This was my first Leslie McAdam and Tor Thom.

Insightful and fun

When I began listening to this book, I did not expect the story to be as mind provoking as it turned out to be. Leslie McAdam has interwoven a romance with real life issues, making you think while you read. The story of Jessica and her life's fight with her weight and how she learned to deal with it was well written and thought provoking. Her decision to move from her family and in with Mikey was life changing. First impression of Mikey..manwhore who loves heavyset women turns out to have secrets and depth. His encouragement and love towards Jessica brought to life that you can't judge a book buy it's cover. These characters are well developed and you can't help but love them.

I especially liked the fact that these two flawed characters were able to work through their problems, both separately and together. This book includes the useful tools of outlets that are available to you when you need help to get through issues like weight or alcoholism. Definite good read.

This is my first listen of a book narrated by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel. This duet narration was well done. I especially loved Tor Thom's voice, I found his narration to include great emotions throughout, from happy to sad, sexy to frustrated. Charley Ongel was also very good, though sometimes I thought she sounded a little young for the character.

Such a heartwarming story ❤️

This was my first read by Leslie. I enjoyed Jessica and Mikey's Story.
Jessica just got a bad bill of health from the Doctor. She's obese and headed straight toward diabetes if she doesn't do something about about it. After landing a job a couple hours away from the only home she's known, she finds an ad for a house that has a room for rent. Mikey is her new roommate who just so happens to be a personal trainer on the side. Thus starts their journey for a healthier Jessica.
Jessica uses food as a way of dealing with her emotional problems that stem from her abusive childhood. We later learn that Mikey has some issues of his own. I love how Mikey is with Jessica and how he slowly builds her confidence and brings her out of her shell. As they grow closer they begin to mend the broken pieces of each other. Such a heartwarming story. I definitely need to go back and read the other books in this series.
I listened to the audible version and thought the narrators did a great job!! Definitely love the dual POV!!

Amazing story, beautifully narrated

I absolutely adored this story when Ms McAdam released it late last year. I read it.. cried, held my kindle to my heart, read some more, laughed.. and in the end, my heart fell full.

Recently I was looking for an ebook to listen to. And I chose this one. Not anticipating how much it would impact me again. The story packs a punch.. but to hear those emotions brought out via these narrators.. whose connection is palpable, their understanding of the importance of this story and its intricacies so beautifully portrayed. Props to them, they did a fantastic job of capturing the carefreelessness of Mikey with the underlying pain and struggle, Jessica's journey from shy and meek wallflower to assertive, strong, willful, beautiful woman. And it was all shown simply through the magic of the narrators voices.

I know for sure this is not the last time I will have listen to this book.
