Publisher's Summary

Take the leap.

She's got her feet planted on the ground. He'll teach her to fly.

Jessica, a curvy, driven, neat-freak lawyer is ecstatic when she finally gets her dream job - even though it's taking her away from her hometown. When she meets over-the-top, man-mountain Mikey, a fitness buff and veterinarian with a messy life in all senses of the word, she thinks she just walked into the second-most exciting adventure of her life.

His larger-than-life personality fascinates her, but also shakes the foundations of her quiet, introverted self, knocking her off-kilter. It's a bad idea to let him take her on as a weight-loss client. It's an even worse idea to get involved with him since he's her manwhore roommate...and she's seen him in action.

If they give into their undeniable attraction, is it just a train wreck waiting to happen? Or will their desire fuel a chance at real love?

If you love steamy romance, be sure to check out the fourth standalone in the Giving You series.

    "Insightful and fun"

When I began listening to this book, I did not expect the story to be as mind provoking as it turned out to be. Leslie McAdam has interwoven a romance with real life issues, making you think while you read. The story of Jessica and her life's fight with her weight and how she learned to deal with it was well written and thought provoking. Her decision to move from her family and in with Mikey was life changing. First impression of Mikey..manwhore who loves heavyset women turns out to have secrets and depth. His encouragement and love towards Jessica brought to life that you can't judge a book buy it's cover. These characters are well developed and you can't help but love them.

I especially liked the fact that these two flawed characters were able to work through their problems, both separately and together. This book includes the useful tools of outlets that are available to you when you need help to get through issues like weight or alcoholism. Definite good read.

This is my first listen of a book narrated by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel. This duet narration was well done. I especially loved Tor Thom's voice, I found his narration to include great emotions throughout, from happy to sad, sexy to frustrated. Charley Ongel was also very good, though sometimes I thought she sounded a little young for the character.

"Wanted to like this, but it just wasn't for me"
What did you like best about The Ground Beneath Our Feet? What did you like least?

The best part of The Ground Beneath Our Feet was the narration by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel. Tor especially was incredible and has such a deep and smooth voice. *swoon* I would not have been able to get through this book without their wonderful performances.

What was most disappointing about Leslie McAdam’s story?

I just couldn't connect with the characters or story. I did not feel invested in Mikey or Jessica and found the pacing to be really slow. There was nothing that caught and held my attention after the initial meeting of our characters. For most of the book, I actually felt like Mikey was just really creepy. I did like that he always saw Jessica for who she was though. Toward the end, I did end up liking the characters more, but by that point it was too late.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Mikey and Jessica "meet" for the first time. That was surprising and hilarious (though I was not impressed with Mikey's treatment of Cherry) and gave me high hopes for the book. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there.

    Any additional comments?

This book deals with some very emotional issues (like abuse, alcoholism, etc). I liked the overall message of the book and that the characters were both trying to battle their demons and live healthier lives. I really wanted to like this book, but sadly, it just wasn't for me.

What made the experience of listening to The Ground Beneath Our Feet the most enjoyable?

I love how the narrators voice makes the story come alive. They bring more depths to the characters and that's what I look for when I buy an audio book.

This was a great story of finding oneself and accepting who you are and accepting those around us for who they are and learning to forgive. Great narration by both. They work really well together and the story just flows.

    "Light but enjoyable"

    3.5-4 stars

This was a fun audio, light in premise and execution. THE GROUND BENEATH OUR FEET took an overweight heroine with significant confidence and body issues and paired her with a room mate in a new city who was a veterinarian and a fitness trainer. I initially worried that Jessica would be on a journey of focused weight loss with validation coming in being thin. I'm glad to say this didn't happen at all. I don't want to give away the plot but Mikey, the home owner worshipped Jessica's curves and a nice story ensued. I did feel a little loss of traction towards the last 10% but overall I really enjoyed this listen and want to read more by Leslie McAdam.

A significant part of my enjoyment from this book came from the narration. Charley Ongel nailed the character of Jessica, particularly the emotional issues. Tor Thom has a very deep voice and I came to really enjoy his take in Mikey. New narrators to me and I will definitely look at their other work.

    "Oh so Good!!!"

This is the first book by Leslie McAdam that I have listened to. I loved this duet narration! Both Tor Thom and Charley Ongel added so much emotion and depth to the story. Being overweight I related Jessica's battle and feelings, although I am much older than she is. Tor Thom's voice was like chocolate to my ears (yes I am dieting while writing this). This is a standalone listen and part of a series. I really enjoyed this book and will look at the others in the series. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrators, and/or publisher. I loved Mikey's attitude to help heal Jessica. The humor in this book was laugh out loud at times. Another endearing feature of this book was the menage of animals that lived with Mikey.

    "My Two Pennies"

I'm actually giving this story a 4.5, we're faced with serious matters wrapped into a beautiful story. The narration is spot on you will be warm, toasty and turned on listening without a doubt. Tor Thom's voice is just so damn swoon worthy and Charley makes you feel as if you're Jessica, a woman that is self conscious about her weight, yes she is what the doctors consider obese but to those around her she is gorgeous. She does have an issue with using good as her escape for both good and bad events in her life and that just breaks my heart. Mikey is said to be a "man-whore" but there's so much more to this man than meets the eye, Mikey is dealing with his own battles ever single day that will never fade and let him move past. There's an undeniable attraction between these two but stays at a roommate level but for how long?. This was a beautifully written heartfelt and sexy read and I highly recommend you one click your copy. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

"A wonderful story and a very sexy narration!!"

The Ground Beneath Our Feet is a wonderful story of two people finding each other and overcoming their personal obstacles. Jessica is very relatable in her personal journey regarding her self image and ways of coping. And Mikey is an over the top man who goes after what he wants..... Which is Jessica!

Now the narration of the book was off the chart sexy and sinful! I think that I have found my new favorite male narrator. I also loved the duel narration through out the book, where the male narrator speaks all male parts and the female narrator speaks all female parts.

I highly recommend this author and both narrators!
