Publisher's summary

When your life is a hot mess at 20, it's cute. At 27...well, not so much.

It's just that my lofty dreams - making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily - have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I've decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I've settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.

That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town's new vet.

With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it's not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.

Like everyone else, I'm intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can't refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he'll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.

It's too bad I underestimated Adam's irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.

It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.

I loved it!

I'm not usually one for audio books, unless it's by one of my favorite authors, but I really enjoyed this. I usually purchase the ebook and abandon the audio book because I'm too impatient to wait and see what happens, but I didn't get the urge with this book. I was too entertained by the narrators' performances and the book itself. the storyline and characters had me laughing out loud many times throughout. I'll definitely be listening to this again, and also searching for more books with these narrators and by this author.

Fun and Fresh

R.S. Grey is a hit or a miss for me and that’s cool it doesn’t detour me from at least giving her books a shot because you never know. I LOVED this book I loved the light and banter-y feeling we get. I giggled and cringed for the main character heck I want to be her bestie!

I love her love of dogs; being a cat person myself I might not get it completely but the fact that she doesn’t give one iota that he is going to be a big beast and she just keeps on keeping on. LOVE.

Her relationship with her SIL made me so happy, I do wish we had at least a few convos between the Main Character and her bro that would have really tied it all in for me. Just my thoughts.

Dr. Adam sure gets the surprise of his life, and how it all goes down loved it like I said I was just completely entertained.

That ending HA! HA! BEST KARMA EVER!

The narration is FANTASTIC, Luci Christian can deliver a line, her voice is soothing and I just couldn’t get enough. Joe well I have been a fan for a long time. ;)
Fun and Fresh would recommend.

Funny but with creepy moments

The book is funny and well written. I enjoyed listening to most of it, but the main male character was disturbing: using his physical advantage to restrain a woman that is trying to leave, forcibly kissing people, sending mixed signals big time...
Wacked personalities are all around IRL, I don't need them crawling in my lighthearted leisure books posing as ideal men.

Funny and cute

I really liked the heroine in this one. Unpredictably funny and cute. It was a great distraction from heavier reads. I'll be following this author.

Cringe worthy male character

I’m half way through and thinking this book is alright, when bam A grabs M and doesn’t let her go, even after she tells him it’s hurting her and saying it’s assault. Then he kisses her after she tells him not to. When people talk about abusive relationships this is what they say. They always forgive them because they’re attracted to them and they make them feel good, so shouldn’t it be right that they’re together? Red flags popping up everywhere, if this was a murder mystery I’d be thinking he was the killer. This is the stuff I’m used to reading in books published in the 80’s, not 2017.

Average but characters didn't have chemistry

I finished...that's about all I can say. More like 2.5 stars, not 3. The main characters didn't have chemistry and they weren't very likable.

yesssssss

I love R.S. Grey but I prefer audiobooks over ebook, so I've been waiting for this one!!!

It was worth the wait.

I am a sucker for a good contemporary read, especially if it’s a hate-to-love type of romance novel. That kept me totally hooked!

R.S. Grey is so good at creating hilarious scenarios that draw her characters together. The characters and their dialogue were so genuine and totally relatable, which made this a really fun listen.

Can't forget to mention the adorable Mouse--probably the best character yet! :D

A little disappointing

I love this author. Truly. But I found this one just not up to the usual standards.

For starters, the h is just really unlikable. She’s petty, jealous of her coworkers’ success and constantly feels sorry for herself for absolutely no legitimate reason. It’s implied that the reason she struggles to find a meaningful relationship is because the town is just too small, and she is just too good for these small town losers. Which is hilarious because if it were real life, the reason would be more along the lines of the fact that she is just a really annoying overly entitled person. The narrator for her compounds this with an overly shrill, snarky and utterly insincere persona.

Then there is Doctor Foxe. Normally, I love this writer’s heroes, but this guy is awful. He’s hot. He’s cold. He blames other people for his own behavior. At one point, his office staff are literally running away from him to try to avoid making eye contact, and his reasoning to himself is that it is the h’s fault for putting him in a bad mood. He’s also kind of assaulty, narcissistic and a creeper.

It was also just...boring. It couldn’t hold my attention and I had to skip entire chapters just to get to a point worth listening to.

The male narrator was fine, but I didn’t feel like he had much to work with here.

I am not giving up on this author. Grey is still a favorite. But this one goes to the bottom of the pile.

Unfortunately.. Bored

Who rates these books?! This was such a waste of Joe Arden’s sexy, adorable voice. I got so bored with this story that I skipped to the last 2 chapters and was bored by them as well. Sorry Joe, love your voice but really didn’t like this book..
