Publisher's summary

Miranda Fenster was known as the Fairy Tale Miss during the one disastrous London season that convinced her she would never have a happily-ever-after. But when her brother's love match is thwarted by the impossibly proper Duke of Kerstone, Miranda sets off to convince the duke to champion her brother's cause for love.

Unfortunately, he is too proper to consider love a suitable reason for marriage, and too proper not to marry Miranda when they find themselves compromised. Now, Miranda has a second chance for happily-ever-after, if she can uncover her new husband's darkest secret. Originally published by Kensington Zebra Ballad, October 2000.

Loveable story which is a true fairy tale

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, there wasn't anything I didn't like about this story, it has a little of everything in it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Duke of Kerstone (Simon) He was truly an honorable man who put his line first and his self last.

Any additional comments?

At first I was on the fence and a little confused. I have never understood the different titles in England which did not help me at all. The beginning was a little confusing for me but as the author and narrator took me through the book I grew to understand a little better. If one takes into fact the year this book was written about it all come together nicely.

There is passion not so much of what we see into today’s writing but more of how it would have been if the book was written back in time. This is a pretty clean read which I feel adds to the delivery of the book. The one thing I adore above everything was the British accent, it adds so much to this story. I was so in shock over the accent that it took me awhile to get into the story. I so love the accent that I wasn’t listening so much to the words as the voice which was truly amazing and lovely. However the beginning of the audio does have some buzzing in it which I found to be annoying but it did clean up to be a very joy able listen.

I found Bushra Laskar as a narrator to be a delight with a wonderful easy flowing voice that I could listen to all day. Her British accent added so much to the book, it was smooth and flowed easy. I did not hear to many character changes, there were a few that I thought were lovely but I did not notice many. In no way did that take away from the story.

When I picked my kindle up to listen I thought it would be more of a fairy tale kind of a repeat of old stories with a twist. That was not the case, the stories Miranda told were of old childhood stories we were told, the book was not a remade of fairy tales. Most people thought Miranda a little off but she stuck to her believes in a HEA. For me the narrator had me hooked even through the beginning with the confusion.

I would have liked to have seen a little more to the ending but the ending was a nice one with lots of HEAs for everyone. The authors writing style at the beginning is a little confusing but as you go along it is easy to follow and flows easily. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to listen or read to more from this author. I did download another audio and the box set of the Fairy Tale Brides.

Could not listen to this.

I had to return this book as the audio is terrible. The back ground fuzzy noise is awful.

It has it all....

I just listened to this story for the second time and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. It is a well conceived tale of love, honor, deceit, and betrayal.

Narrator : Not the best but acceptable. There is something odd in the pronunciation of certain words, not quite an impediment, that takes away occasionally. But the characters are clearly individuals whose voices, emotions and personalities are definite.

Heat Factor: barely luke warm.

Creditworthy? I say yes.

God awful

The narrator is monotone and uninspiring. The plot is very thin and there’s not even any good romance to make up for it. Seriously, don’t bother.

Delightful

This is the first of the series and my first time reading this author’s work. It’s well-written with complex characters and a good storyline. There are some surprising plot twists. Overall an enjoyable read.
The narration is okay but has some patchy spots.

Truths

I feel so sorry for Maranda when she has to marry but her husband, Simon, will only tease her with kisses but will not take her to his bed.
This was an interesting story will characters you can feel for.
Bushra Laskar did a good job as narrator

Selfish hero

I did not like the hero. He was too selfish for my liking. I don't what his definition of honor is, because I didn't find him to be honorable. He was hell bent on honor and he wasn't even honorable. I didn't like him.

Narrator needs to learn punctuations!

The plot was not a bad one, but the author made the story longer than it needed to be thus making it somewhat boring and stale. The narrator read this story as if her house was on fire, there were no distinction in which to Decipher one paragraph from the next. It was disconcerting And made For an unpleasant experience while listening.

This book and recording gets tedious

The story lacks depth. It gets repetitive and annoying after a while. It is okay definitely not great.

The Narrator, at times, slightly slurs her words. Otherwise, she does okay on the “ voices “.
Otherwise. the storyline is enjoyable.
