Publisher's summary

In the harrowing prequel to the Lost and Found series, three embattled marines must deal with their devastating physical and emotional injuries in a world that seems to have turned against them.

When the rescue helicopter crashes into his convoy in Iraq, Marine First Sergeant Duncan Wilde struggles with the loss of men, his career, and the use of his body. Things can't get much worse. Until his fiancée decides she has to move on with her life and that of her unborn child by another man.

Sergeant Chad Lowell knew when he went to war that it would come with a price. And it did. A young marine under his command is killed by a land mine. Chad's left with one less leg and a mountain of recriminations. That doesn't mean he wants to be a pitied by every female he comes in contact with.

Gunnery Sergeant John Palmer is furious at the hand he's been dealt. He's served his country faithfully, if not without antagonism, for many years. Now they're turning him out like a relative who has overstayed his welcome. And since he's not even a real man anymore, maybe it is time to move on permanently.

Can these wounded warriors use a friendship born out of adversity to form a partnership rescuing others? And can they find real love in spite of their challenges?

It was a great first story!

Straight to the point.... I mean... down to the emotions! You felt them! Each of them! Their disconnection, their struggle to breath in and out of the hospital, the fight they had in them, the need to be strong, to stay strong and feel they are still string. Their strengths in being a "unit," though in civilian life. Its all there. Fast pace, in your face and in three POVs (point of views) and more importantly... from men's men... point of view. Talk about digging deep into the... we don't talk about emotions world lol.

Excellent listen

Duncan, Chad and John were narrated exactly like the warrior Marines I imagined when I first read this prologue.
This fantastic series on the life of combat modified veterans is one of my favorite series and the three primary characters remain, three of the best I've read in military fiction.

Love this series

This is one of my favorite series and I was so excited to see to see it has now come to audio.
As a veteran reading about wounded warriors and seeing them land on their feet (so to speak) with a purpose in life is awesome. I already snagged the whole series that is out I love them so much

Good Intro to a New Series

I enjoyed the introduction to the characters. Very well done. Also Eric Dove did a good job as narrator. I will be reading more in the series.

Great start. Can't wait for more.

Loved all these wounded heroes. All of them are vibrant and I want their stories. They deserve women who will see past the wounds and into the heart.

Great Start to the Series!

A short audio listen that was about an hour and forty minutes. I liked the narration. The narrator managed to create 3 distinct personalities without me having to think about who was speaking.

A short book that was full of emotion as it took me through some of the realities the men and women of our military sometimes end up encountering as a result of war. I'm sure it only skimmed the surface, but it drew me into the fight each man was facing.

It did provide an HFN as Duncan, Chad, and Palmer work to create new post military lives.

I liked all three characters and I am looking forward to their individual books.
