Publisher's Summary

In Katharine Ashe's newest unforgettable romance, the question on everyone's lips is answered at last: Who is Lady Justice?

How does a lady of wit and courage bring an arrogant lord to his knees? Entice him to Scotland, strip him of titles and riches, and make him prove what sort of man he truly is.

Opposites...

Handsome, wealthy, and sublimely confident, Colin Gray, the new Earl of Egremoor, has vowed to unmask the rabble-rousing pamphleteer Lady Justice, the thorn in England's paw. And he'll stop at nothing.

Attract.

Smart, big-hearted, and passionately dedicated to her work, Lady Justice longs to teach her nemesis a lesson in humility. But her sister is missing, and a perilous journey with her archrival into unknown territory just might turn fierce enemies into lovers.

    "A Bit Confusing..."
What did you love best about The Earl?

It's hard to say. The love/hate relationship was good at times then suddenly it took an unexpected dive off the cliff.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I definitely appreciated the character of Colin Grey. Emily was supremely written as an irritable bitch.

Have you listened to any of Saskia Maarleveld’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have no problem with her narration. I like the men to sound male and the ladies to sound like females with variations according to their characters personality. Saskatoon was right on with all of them. As an American, the only accents I have problems with in any Regency novels are the fake sounding American accents. The two that popped up for just an instant in this book were done well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I definitely laughed. But the strongest emotion was frustration. The storyline had other story.ines and then the imposters and it was too much. BUT as an aside, I listen at night and often fall asleep.... I rewind, but I think I missed some pertinent details still.

    Any additional comments?

I read the lead in book as well, The Rogue. I thought that was excellent. The chemistry in The Earl however, just was not there for me throughout the book like it was in The Rogue.

"Great performance but lead female leader not good"

i think the story had great potential but i did not particularly like the female lead as she is way too prickly, completely blind to the obvious, overly self righteous and down right mean unnecessarily. I absolutely loved the lead male and think he deserved much better in a partner.

"Wish I had read earlier books first"

Very enjoyable story and marvelous reader. I normally try to read an author's series in order & can't remember why I began with this book instead. I wish I had followed my usual practice because there were references to people & events that served more to confuse than clarify. I did find Emily/Lady Justice quite plausible despite her anachronistic (21st Century) feminist vocabulary. It was an exciting adventure.
