Good listen

I liked the story, there was a new character type (salamander) and different take on dragon shifters. The narrator was pretty good too. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Not what I was expecting

I really hate to give a negative review but this was a hard listen for me. I was really looking forward to this book unfortunately the characters and story never really pulled me in. I know it's erotica but I like a little more story with my erotica, after a while I skipped over their encounters. Sometimes less is more. I wanted a bit more story especially in the beginning.

Definitley keep your earbuds in.

The characters were just there. Even if the story is erotica your characters need to have some personality. Adeen just didn't come across as likable and Matthew seemed immature. The bedroom dialog was just cheesy most time. Especially during the more intimate encounters. It was painful to listen to.

There is a plot but not much of one. The storyline was creative with what Adeen is and what she can do/does for people. (Trying not to spoil the story for anyone). While I understand that he was upset when Adeen revealed her true nature, he has 2 sides as well. Manipulation no matter what the circumstances never goes over well though.

David Quimby did a really good job with the narration as usual. His narration is what kept me listening. I have listened to many books that he has narrated and he is one of my favorite narrators, unfortunately there's only so much a narrator can do with what they are given. He tried. The narration is clearly spoken with a nice pace. Good character voices. Of coarse Matthew's voice was great. He brought the characters to life as much as he could with his narration.

If this is your usual genre, you'll love it!

This story was just okay for me. There's lots of sex and even more eye-rolling, cheesy sex moments. The narrator did a great job, especially with the sex scenes. If not for the narrator, I'm not sure I would've finished the book.

Looking for a momentary escape? If you are a fan of the “Shifter erotica” genre you may enjoy this. That said you can expect a great deal of sex. Matthew LeMonde is a young artist just starting out. He is also a were dragon shifter. As a human, his art is his passion and his first art show is not the only a success he discovers. He falls for a special visitor Adeen Cole. But as he discovers more about Adeen will this be a lifelong mate or another fling?
The story is ok, but I had higher hopes. With further development of the story could have been so much more.
David Quimby did a great job narrating the story.
The story is short, only four hours, so easy to listen to in an afternoon or an afternoon drive.

Nice story

This is the first I heard of this author and this narrator and I have to say that I was not disappointed. I really liked the story and the characters and I really liked the narrator as well.
He really managed to pull me into the story and make me live it.
A really great book.

The Dragon of Destiny is #02 of 03 in the Dragon Fever Series by Serena Rose. All 3 are currently published with all of them being on Audible.


David Quimby narrates this title, however all three are performed by different artists.


HEA with no cliffhanger!


Aside from having a dragon shifter as a main character, I cannot see any other link between the three. This is my first in this series so I could be wrong. :-)

Yes, both in thoughts and actions, however, the words used are overly cutesy and downplayed, so it would be more middle of the road than anything. That being said, if you do not like sex at all, then you should avoid.

♥ Story ♥

This is a shifter romance, and its Dragons!
There is magic as well as other worldly beings. There is love learned and love lossed.


This asks the question that I see many artists deal with: Does it matter that you got there by your own merits? Does having a leg-up cheapen your true talent?


Adeen is a Salamander from another realm. She has a long life span just like a shifter, but... she is... something more! You will have to listen or read to get the details, but just know she is special. She falls smitten with Matthew, a dragon and an artist.


Despite their mutual long lives, Adeen is still older than Mathew so there is a cougar vibe to the story. It shouldn't matter as both of their species still look very youthful, but it seems to be a problem none the less.


Matthew is a WereDragon, which is something that is out and known about in the human world. He is 23 and a computer game designer that paints on the side. He is having an art show when he first meets Adeen, and they hit it off quite quickly. Everything seems to be going perfect for Mathew, which is of course when it all manages to go completely wrong! His faith in himself and his trust in Adeen are questioned and he doesn't cope well.



The Dragon Of Destiny definitely seems different from the other two books in the series. It's more than the typical shifter type story. The over use of alternative terms for the sex parts and Adeen's constant reference to Mathew as if he were a child makes for some awkward dialog. Despite the mythical pretenses of the story, it still resonates with reality. Most people have that job they do while they are striving to do what they ultimately want to do forever.

This is my 1st read/listen by Serena Rose, and I am definitely intrigued. I like the fresh take on the shifter love affair. I would for sure listen to more of this series as well as the author's other work.

This is my 2nd listen by David Quimby and he did a great job with story. His female voices could use some polish, but that is not uncommon with Narrators of the opposite gender.

Good book.

What did you like best about this story?

That it was a little different. The idea that the heroine was energy yet could become human was new. I liked that she helped others with her abilities.

Have you listened to any of David Quimby’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I think he did a great job on both audiobooks!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I usually finish a book the same day I start it. This is a shorter book so you can fit it in when you don't have a lot of time and not get left hanging.

Destiny?

This book was mostly about sex and more sex. I realize that the shifter story's have a lot of sex but this one have been called the love life of a dragon. There really was no story here just pure lust.

Fantasy love turns real

A little too much fantasy can be a little to hard to handle. When the truth comes out, a dragon shifter and a mystical salamander must work through feelings of betrayal and misunderstandings to find their true happiness.

I had a hard time getting into this book. I made it halfway through and gave up. The book just didn’t hold my attention. I love dragon shifter romance but this one just didn’t do it for me. At a later date I will attempt a re-listen and, at that time, will update this review.
