Publisher's summary

Back country guide Jack Hughes has a problem. He has been hired by a software billionaire and his beautiful fiancée, Claire Coulter, to find a legendary fountain-of-youth in the California wilderness. Much to Jack's consternation, he discovers Claire can read the minds of animals simply by touching them. Jack can't allow her to touch him or even get close, for fear that she will discover his well-protected secret.

Yet, the deeper into the California wilderness they travel and the more dangers they face, the more Jack finds himself yearning for Claire's special touch and a whole lot more.

Liked it, but I won't read the whole series

I'll admit that overall, I found this story entertaining. I'd definitely recommend this book for a listen. But a few things to keep in mind. I usually read the reviews before I spend my hard-earned credits on any new author or series, because I've had bad surprises in the past. First thing I discovered was that this is in fact the second book of the series, not the first. But, this story is pretty much a stand-alone novel, it feels like you're not missing much if you haven't read the first book. Then, it's likely there's probably going to be a third one. You can tell by the last 30 seconds of this recording, which by the way, the story could do without. The author is throwing a wrench into her own story train with that last part, I enjoyed the archeology, mythology, spiritual overtones, etc. but adding more into the mix is overkill.

e Darkdaf

This was a fun interesting paranormal romance. the author ties in paranormal ideas with native American mystery, Egyptian artifacts and wilderness adventure. there are no steemy sex sceens but a well developed romance. I just wish the persons who choose the readers think more about the production. the reader for this book read well for all the voices except the Hero Jack... so sad and lacking. Jack is described as a 6ft rugged cowboy in his 30's with a deep rumbling voice..... so why whenever Jack speaks he sounds like a 13 year old boy. when I heard the reader's voice for Jack I almost deleted the book. production people please get a man to read the voice of men don't spoil the book.

Unusual storyline for paranormal romance

I enjoyed the story of an advanced civilization that had visited earth ions ago and became the egyptian gods. Advance forward to today and a tarot set that set the course of gods.
This is the second story of Tht Forbidden Tarot. Set has been accidently been summonrd and is walking the earth looking for a younger body and a way to create a new world.
The characters in the book go on an adventure that some don't come back from and others find themselves and each other. The drawback? This story is too descriptive, too many
words. My husband listened with me and agreed..fewer words can tell the same story, perhaps even better.
