Publisher's summary

"I am Dageus MacKeltar, a man with one good conscience and 13 bad ones, driven to sate my darkest desires...."

From his penthouse lair high above Manhattan, Dageus looks out over a glittering city that calls to the darkness within him. A 16th-century Scot trapped between worlds, he is fighting a losing battle with the 13 Druids who possess his soul, dooming him to an eternity of sexual pursuit.

When Chloe Zanders, student of antiquities, is drawn into his world, she finds the insatiable alpha male an irresistible lure. Before long, she is caught up in an ancient prophecy that will sweep her back in time to medieval Scotland. Plunged into a world of timeless magic and dark seduction, she will soon face the challenge of a lifetime: fighting 13 evil spirits for the heart of one irresistible man.

Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

An Emotional Rollercoaster

This is a fantastic book! It runs the full gambit of emotions. I laughed, cried, held my breath. Karen Marie Moning just keeps writing more sensationally with each book and transports us to the romantic magical highlands. Phil Gigante uses his magical voice with his sexy Scottish brogue to make us fall in love with the characters. I find it harder and harder to return from their world. I can't recommend this book highly enough. Be sure to read it!

Heart Breaking

Where does The Dark Highlander rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Of the series, this so far is my favorite one.
I never compare apples and oranges. Different genres each have their own appeal.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chloe. Cautious but fearless. She never expected what she got. She also was very joyful, which helped The Dark not be so dark.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Dageus and Chloe meet. Condom wrapper, condom wrapper, MAXIMUS condom wrapper!!!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely and I did.

Any additional comments?

This whole series, is so well written, performed beautifully. I never had to wonder which character was talking except the twins, as they should but when the words came out, then I knew which twin it was.

Ah! Listening in order helps!

Any additional comments?

Narration - Phil Gigante - Pretty Good Great Highlanders but his females are too girly. Second listen 4/27/15 - This was so much better since I bought and listened to Kiss of the Highlander Another enjoyable book in this series. Lots of time travel in this one, with some more details being filled in on the Mystical family side of things. Will keep going with this series. Really enjoying!

Dark Highlander

If you could sum up The Dark Highlander in three words, what would they be?

Get a Kleenex.

What other book might you compare The Dark Highlander to and why?

I would compare Dark Highlander to any of the other Highlander books in the Moning series. I wish they could make them into a movie.

Which scene was your favorite?

1. Chloe defending herself from Giles. 2. Dageus saving Chloe from Simon and the Draghar by sacrificing himself.3. Chloe and Dageus reunion at the end. Wish there had been a reunion with Drustan and Gwen.4. Silvan and Nellie's "wedding."So many more........

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both. Extremely exciting.

Any additional comments?

My only negative about the audio version is that I wish that there had been a female narrator, too. I have nothing against Phil, but it would be easier to listen to a book when you have a real female voice to offset the male, especially in a romance story. This goes for all audio books with both male and female characters.A good example of this is the audio book by Christine Feehan, Dark Slayer. I would buy it in an instant because there are both a male and female narrator. It was great!Think about it.

I love Dagus MacCelter!!

Of all the men of the Highlander series Dagus is by far the most sexy and sweet and good natured, after the ancients leave him but also before.

I loved this book!!!! And narrator !!!

Karen Marie Moning's books are keepers.I think she has a way of bringing her characters to life in all their gorgeous, passionate glory. I felt the love story in this was amazing.I laughed, cried and was angry for the characters throughout the book and it takes a gifted writer to elicit emotion from their readers (and or) listeners.

It is also MY OPINION, that Phil Gigante is an awesome narrator.I will admit that I do prefer, not only with this book, but all books, that a man and woman read the different parts, but again, Mr. Gigante did a wonderful job.

I would now like to address something that really bothers me.Reviewers who BASH an author or narrator because the book is not what they expected. Yes, you are entitled to YOUR opinion , HOWEVER, why would you feel the need to BASH a work that an author has put their time, talent, and most likely tears into. Can't you say something like "This author is not what I expected and I won't be buying their books again". These reviews are for our opinions, YES , but there is no need to be mean. Put yourself in the writer's place. How would you feel if you were the author and a reader said "this book was a stinker" or "it was nothing like this other author because it had no historical references" or "what a waste of my money (or credit)It was all sex."PLEASE reviewers AND buyers, checkout an author and their work on a bookstore site, the author's website to see any awards etc. and read or LISTEN TO EXCERPTS!! That's what they are there for. Make an educated decision on a purchase instead of just buying and then being mad at the author because it wasn't what you wanted and bashing them in your review.Reviewers who give these bashing reviews could possibly be turning away a new reader/listener and that would be unfair to the perspective reader/listener and author. Please think before you type.Thank you and this is MY OPINION.
