Publisher's summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a novel about a woman who needs nothing, a man who sees everything, and the web of deceit, greed and danger that brings them together - and could tear them apart...

When professional house-sitter Lila Emerson witnesses a murder/suicide from her current apartment-sitting job, life as she knows it takes a dramatic turn. Suddenly, the woman with no permanent ties finds herself almost wishing for one...

Artist Ashton Archer knows his brother isn’t capable of violence - against himself or others. He recruits Lila, the only eyewitness, to help him uncover what happened. Chalking up their intense attraction to the heat of the moment, Lila agrees to help Ash try to find out who murdered his brother and why. From the penthouses of Manhattan to grand Italian villas, their investigation draws them into a rarefied circle where priceless antiques are bought, sold, gambled away and stolen; where what you possess is who you are; and where what you desire becomes a deadly obsession...

Critic reviews

“Roberts is performing at the top of her literary game…An addictive blend of sleek suspense and sophisticated romance that would make Hitchcock proud.”—Booklist (starred review)

“A pair of strong, commitment-averse protagonists, vividly drawn villains—a classy, stunningly beautiful, sociopathic assassin and a soulless recluse, in particular—an abundance of Fabergé egg history and a plot that keeps readers on edge add up to another classic for Roberts.”—Library Journal

“Sizzling suspense…Will keep readers riveted.”—Publishers Weekly

At Last-a good Nora Roberts!

I've been so disappointed with the past few NR books that I was hesitant to buy another..however this book is Nora Roberts at her best.

No triplets with powers, no cool cop or haunted house her..just a good mystery/romance in classic Nora Roberts style.

I found the story arc excellently crafted and the protagonists believable. The plot was nicely contrived and the villain excellently bad. I really enjoyed this listen and recommend it to those who are NR readers as well as those who are new to her work-this would be a great place to start!

Buy it and ENJOY.

Fresh Romantic Adventure

This was a great book! I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery, the characters, and the romance. With a great setup and magnificent world-building (a Roberts specialty) the story was entertaining and the characters relatable.

The performance was super too, and I loved the villain! Highly recommend - one of my favorite Nora Roberts titles.

One of her best!!

This is one of Nora Roberts best books ever!
¨The narration was superb and captivating. I listened during my commute to work. I would find myself sitting in my car, listening to the story much longer than time allowed . Like any good book, it was one I simply couldn't put it down so to speak. The detail was exquisite and the story beautiful.

Nora's a beast!!!

Awesome story. I loved the characters. The murders and romance and mystery. Just an overall great story I couldn't stop listening. The beginning was a bit slow but once it got going it took off. Long but worth it. The narrator was new for me but I will for sure look for other books with her as a narrator. Happy reading!

Great Listen!!as usual

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this was one of those books that keeps you on your toes and wondering who do it and tying to find out before the end. This was a Witness Story. Which is one of my favorite.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Collector?

I love the fact that this book did not take place in one area, that actually traveled and described what and where they were at. I feel as if I've been to Italy.

What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She was her own person and fought to keep her Identy, even when she had this great guy that Loved her to destraction, She wanted to make sure she would not lose herself in finding him. She was a really fun girl. And I've read the moonrise Series.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I just looked out the Window.

Any additional comments?

Nora Roberts, did not disappoint as usual, I love her and she really takes me places that I've never been, give me experiences I've never done and makes me feel as if I've been where she is taking us in her stories. Love Her!! 4 Thumbs Up....

.

Too predictable and fluffy.
I like the mystery but there could have been so much more to the plot.
