Publisher's summary

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

Cal - who would be devastatingly sexy, if Iris allowed herself to think that way - offers Iris a hefty fee for hiding him at her place until he figures out who wants him permanently dead. Even though he's imperious, unfriendly, and doesn't seem to understand the difference between "employee" and "servant", Iris agrees, and finds herself breaking more and more of her own rules to help him - particularly those concerning nudity. Turns out what her quiet little life needed was some intrigue and romance - in the form of her very own stray vampire.

Another Magical Audiobook from Harper/Ronconi!

I am so in love with Molly Harper's books and the way Amanda Ronconi brings her characters to life. Molly Harper is an auto download for me.

Harper has a new book out in a different series, not out on audio yet, but I already downloaded e book. Give it a try - its called "My Bluegrass Baby". I am really hoping Ronconi will get to narrate if this goes to audio.

I Don't LIke Vampire Books ... but ...

What's to like about the current craze for vampire books? Nothing much. While I don't remember how I came across this book, the title itself promised something different. Stray??? Vampires. Next, the description promised the story of a human taking care of the mundane day to day needs of vampires, which didn't sound like the usual approach in most science fiction books. So I bought it. Molly has a lot of fun with the foibles of vampires as seen from the human business woman's view point.

Made me laugh (some spoilers)

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe one of my girlfriends that would like a comical romance novel. Most of my friends like to read books such as Wheel of Time or anything by Brandon Sanderson, so they tend to think they are above romance novels.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I felt the relationship was a little too rushed. I haven't met a couple that feel in love in a month and proposed and seen it last. If maybe it happened after a few years, or he just came back and said he wanted to be with her, I would be ok with that.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I thought she did an awesome job and it really allowed me to enjoy the story fully.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot. It was really a witty book that I enjoyed.

I can't get enough of Harper & Ronconi!

I could go on and on about Molly Harper's wittiness and talent.... She is one of my favorite top 5 authors ever... But when she teamed up with Amanda Ronconi, oh my! What a pair! Ronconi's spot-on vocals and her ability to bring Harper's characters to life always leaves me smiling and begging for more!

Enjoyable read from start to finish

Would you consider the audio edition of The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires to be better than the print version?

Never read the print version; so I couldn't say.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires?

The part where he's about to bite her wrist (again) and she swats him on the nose with her hand and says sharply, "NO!" using the same tone you would for a disobedient puppy. Loved that part!

What about Amanda Ronconi’s performance did you like?

Amanda always does a stellar job of reading and is a pleasure to listen to.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed through some of it, but if I was the one responsible for Gigi and she pulled that stunt....she wouldn't be able to sit for a week. I don't care how old she was. Then I'd tie her to a chair and force her to watch show after show which involved plots of foolish teenage girls pulling the same stunts that ended up costing them, or others, their lives just to demonstrate why she should never, ever, do anything like that again.

Any additional comments?

I still listen to it over and over. Including the Christmas sequal. Can't wait for the next one.

Liked it. Funny, great characters.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed listening to it. Did not wanna put it down.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Iris, cause she always talked back and was not afraid to.

What about Amanda Ronconi’s performance did you like?

Enjoyed all the different characters she made. She really brought the book to life. I think they make a great team.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I only took one break in listening to it and that was because I was busy with my family that evening. Otherwise I would have listened all the way thru.

Another winner!

As always, Molly Harper's books are fun and unexpected. Amanda Ronconi does an excellent job with the voices (changes in accents & cadence making it clear which character is speaking). Love it.
