Publisher's summary

Kate McKenna is a photojournalist with a renegade reputation - and a fearless streak that lands her in an experimental hot air balloon, flying over the Rio Grande with the infamous Nick O’Brien. She wants to capture the real man behind the brilliant inventor, but to do that she needs to survive a crash landing in a lawless land and the ruthless bandits who take them hostage. As they conspire to escape their captors, Nick’s fierce protective instinct ignites a deep, primitive desire. Necessity is the mother of invention, and Nick’s working on a plan to get them out of harm’s way. But he never anticipated the desperation he feels to keep Kate safe. Out here, they need each other to survive. But if they make it back to the real world in one piece, will the bond forged in crisis be strong enough to last a lifetime?

Predictable.

I was Really looking forward to this book but it was very ho-hum.That's right i said ho-hum. I kept falling asleep and it was driving me nuts going back over it! But i did listen to the entire book.Eventually.I gave it 4 stars because it would be snarky to give it any less.

Not as I expected...

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Those who enjoy romance novels with minimal complexity to story lines.

Has The Bronzed Hawk turned you off from other books in this genre?

I was really only turned off because I have read and absolutely loved many of Iris Johansen's novels that were drama/action adventure type story lines with characters that I found to be heroic and very attractive. this was more a pure romance without her strong adventure/drama plot.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

As a romance only was good, not great.

Altogether very Weak

The entire book was too weak. I fell asleep through half and it and when I awoke I hadn't missed anything that I couldn't filled in the blanks to. A very predictable romance. It's one of the main reasons that listening to romance is a no brainer.

Disappointment

Serious yuck for the narrator. Made it hard to get thru this book. Story line ok but I couldn't tell the difference between terrible narration and awkward conversation between characters.

disturbing and misleading

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The stories summary alluded to danger and excitement...there was none. The one moment of "danger" was lugahable, in a boring way. I was Shocked, cause I like this author. Also I was very disturbed by the way the book condoned abuse.
've been reading romance since before I was 11 (yes I know, inappropriate, but a far as every one else was concerened a little girl with her noise stuck in a book its more important than actually knowing what she is reading and learning from the books). Anyway, that said, I understand the whole strong man appeal of romance, but this guy was beyond controlling, and threatened to do her physical harm on more than one occasion. Not just expressed a desire to do harm, like many romance books imply, but actually threatens it, and she submits and finds it desirable. I've read a lot of romance, ( I'm 27 now) but this one was one of the most disturbing I've ever read.

What was most disappointing about Iris Johansen’s story?

All of it

Would you listen to another book narrated by Christina Traister?

Yeah
