Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best seller Pepper Winters comes one of her best tales yet...

"What do you do when you meet your soul mate? No wait...that's too easy. What do you do when you meet your soul mate and have to spend a lifetime loving him in secret? I'll tell you what you do. You lie."

REN

Ren was eight when he learned that love doesn't exist - that the one person who was supposed to adore him only cared how much he was worth. His mother sold him and for two years, he lived in terror.

But then...he ran.

He thought he'd run on his own. Turned out, he took something of theirs by accident and it became the one thing he never wanted and the only thing he ever needed.

DELLA

I was young when I fell in love with him, when he switched from my world to my everything. My parents bought him for cheap labor, just like they had with many other kids, and he had the scars to prove it. At the start, he hated me, and I could understand why. For years he was my worst enemy, fiercest protector, and dearest friend. But by the end...he loved me. The only problem was, he loved me in an entirely different way to the way I loved him. And slowly, my secret drove us apart.

How do you rate your heart?

I am trying to remove myself from the cliffhanger because I just hate them so much, especially ones that are so epic the reader can’t move on with their life. I don’t think it’s nice to the reader, but that is my opinion not a judgment on the book.

So walking away from how salty I am over that, this book was magnificent. It was a landscape painting full of vivid colors and characters that were expertly drawn up into the readers minds.

The slowest of burns, I wanted to blow on the fire and have it spread a little faster but by the end, I was grateful that I was patient and glad that the fire was still at a manageable level because now we have a month to wait for book 2 and I couldn’t take it if the fire was raging and then we had to wait.

Slightly taboo, but only for those that don’t know or read taboo. If you do, then it won’t be any skin off your back.

Hayden Bishop is one of my favorite for this age group of characters. She is just perfect. She has that tone. Will Watt was amazing too. I must say that this was a complete waste of his accent as he spoke in an American accent but it was ok because I loved it and I love him.

Great story, characters, and FANTASTIC narrators!!

This book starts out a little differently than most of the other Pepper Winters books that I've read, and I believe I have read and listened to almost all of them, as she is one of my most favored authors. This book made laugh and cry and made me so frustrated that Ren wouldn't open his eyes. If you read it you'll see what I'm talking about, but I don't want to give away any spoilers. So, if you like a great storyline, extremely touching characters, and a hint of a forbidden romance, do yourself a very big favor and give this one a chance. You will not be disappointed!

interesting yet disturbing story

I must say I can't get over the fact that a person would feel family love and not romantic love in this situation. With that being said, I couldn't stop listening to the story! Of course I'll be getting book 2 because this ends in a cliffhanger.

Amazing

It completely pulled me in from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down. Love the narrator Will M Watt. I was excited to hear him take on another roll in this new series! Both narrators were awesome, they really make the story come alive.

WOW!

I don't even know what to say about this book. The story was so unique and devastatingly wonderful. I can't wait to read part two of the duet. I feel like I'm on the edge of a cliff, about to fall and I can't stop it. It's overwhelming anticipation.....I have to know the rest of the story!
