Love the series...

London’s books are well written and fun reads. Sadly the narrator, while possessing an excellent accent, lacks any ability whatsoever to find a range of emotion in her narration. Every word, whether anger, desire, sadness, joy, is an almost monotone of intensity.

Excellent Story!

I’ve gone through my fair share of Regency romances. They are great a diversion, but they do all tend to run together before they are forgotten. This story, even though it is an RR, is different from the rest in many ways. It breaks from the formulaic plots. Sure, it eventually arrives at the ton, but it takes you on an enjoyably wild and harrowing ride before it gets there. It proves that “tension” can be built without the initial conflict between the lovers. I liked the leading man more than any other. I also liked that there was emphasis on simpler pleasures and not so much on the manufactured enjoyment of London society in those days. It’s no wonder tongues wagged. They had nothing else to do.

This story has more grit. I’ve listened to the narrator enough on other books, so that she is now like a comfortable story-teller friend. I still grimace when she announces the love scenes like she’s ringside at the MMA, before ffwding. I have to give her props for soldiering through them, though.

Good story, not entirely happy with the ending!

Ok. Maybe I am an idealist and true, it’s not possible to keep all readers happy, but what the hero had to sacrifice at the end was quite unlikely for that time. I also found the heroine’s fit of temper toward the end and fleeing as childish and immature. I felt that my intelligence got insulted with that ending. Having said this, I admit I am a Julia London fan and believe overall this book was a well-written book if you can overlook the ending. So can’t say I recommend this book over some of her others posted on Audible, but still worth a credit.

Finding love in Scotland

Another wonderful book by Julia London. Kerry a widow about to lose her lands, encounters Arthur and accidentally grazes him in the arm when she thinks he is stealing from her. They have a heck of a time trying to get back to her home. Arthur is in Scotland to see his deceased friends investment not realizing that its Kerry’s land. When Kerry is evicted and the accidental kills Moncreifs son, she runs with Arthur to England.
When she realizes Thomas is accused of the crime she leaves Arthur to save Thomas. Can Arthur gather evidence to save the woman he loves. A great story and excellent Narrator!

Finally! A good one

Ok I’ve listened to several of Julia London’s books and they generally just felt mediocre to me. There was always something about the plot or the character that just felt so unrealistic. This one I enjoyed. I could relate to them and also felt them falling in love. And I didn’t feel the same problem was repeated over and over. So we’ll done!

Sick of Philip!

Philip is a character who died in the first book and have been repeatedly mentioned throughout the series and ad-nauseam in this book. The resurrection of this character adds nothing to the story and is irritating to say the least. Other then that the stories so far have been good and worth a read. On to the last book where I’m sure Philip will undoubtedly make several more appearances. So far I’ve liked Arthur and Kerry’s story best.

Good addition

I thought this was a good book for the series and I wasn’t disappointed with the ending at all as one other review stated.

Heroine is Horrible! Story is good.

The heroine annoyed me from the beginning. She was winey, ignorant, judging, naive, arrogant and ANNOYING! She has nothing, could do nothing, but insisted she knew everything! She did not use her wits at one time!!!

The Beautiful Stranger

In my opinion, This is The second best in the series of the Rogues of Regent Street.

Flosnik cannot pronounce V or F

Narrator spoiled the whole experience with her Pilips and Libes. She can’t pronounce V and F and every single book it is the same . Stories are good but Julia London must find a better narrator.
