Publisher's summary

Journalism graduate student Kate McDermott is a good girl who has done everything she can to please her very powerful and domineering father - a Justice on New York's Supreme Court, with hopes for political office. When she decides to write an article about BDSM in popular culture, she tells herself it's just research and nothing personal, for she can't afford to become the target of gossip or scandal. She hopes that the carefully worded agreement she writes up will keep her relationship with the Dominant she will interview strictly professional.

Then "Master D" - Drake Morgan - walks into the interview and Kate is mortified for not only is he gorgeous, he's the son of her father's best and oldest friend...

Drake Morgan, MD, bass player, philanthropist - Dominant. Known as Master 'D' in Manhattan's BDSM Community, Drake must keep the kinky side of his life secret to protect his very successful career as a neurosurgeon. After a heartbreaking divorce, Drake doesn't do girlfriends, he doesn't do sleepovers, and he certainly doesn't do breakfast in bed the morning after. He keeps everything in his well-ordered life separate and under his firm control.

Then Kate McDermott crosses his path and screws everything up. Now, nothing is neat and tidy anymore. And no longer under control, for Drake is smitten and things are going to get messy....

The Agreement will stay with you long after you listen to the final minute. Ages 18+ only for mature content.

I was disappointed. This got tedious quickly.

I was really hoping the negative reviews would be subjective when they said this book wasn't worth it. I can take a lot of descriptions and back and forth if it's for a good payoff but this just wasn't worth it for me. I didn't feel like I could relate with he characters and I just wanted Kate to stop. She was such a horrid sub even one on training, it's like she just didn't know how to stop asking constant questions and didn't take it seriously with Drake. I just didn't like how she interacted with him... she was annoying and not very likeable to me. I can't really put my finger on one thing exactly but all these things just mixed together for a tedious story that irritated me. It took 4.5 hours for anything to even happen. It was hard to believe she liked him at all with how she was acting in the beginning and I was frustrated she didn't tell her friend to F off for getting in her business. The constant back and forth didn't help, making the story feel like the readers were being jerked around all the time when most of it was unnecessary in a lot of ways. It could have been much shorter and gotten the same things accomplished. Sorry but it wasn't for me. I love a good BDSM story and I love females that are strong and push their Doms but a lot of times it just felt like she didn't have a good understanding/respect for the relationship between a Dom and a sub. Maybe that was partially due to Drake's failure to explain certain things beforehand but eh... I won't be continuing this series. The narration was very good and I liked that part of it but the story was just lackluster to me. Moving on.

The Agreement

This is a wonderful change to other BDSM stories. Tame yet sexy, that's a hard balance to accomplish. I love the characters; each complimenting the other to perfection. The story although somewhat involved it easy to follow. The chemistry undeniable.

Emma Wilder's narration is amazing. Listening to her narrate takes you into the emotions of the characters, you actually feel what the characters feel.

Pretty Good Story!!

This is my first book by this author and I was very pleased. However, I got so tired of the best friend, if I had one like her she'd be my past friend. Kate was such a wuss dealing with her friend but so brave in the rest of her life. Hoping book 2 meets this level.

I am still faning myself!!!

HOT!!! This book was great... and smexy time galore!!! You really have to enjoy reading books about BDSM....

This was more like a teaching book, that took a turn somewhere right along page 2! Great story about high powered judge's daughter who is also a journalist... she plans to do her college dissertation on BDSM... and low and behold... her dominate... is her dad's best friend's son!!

There was plenty of angsty moments...but overall very well written story...

Narration was great!

Only for first-timers.

I would only recommend this book for people who have never read anything about non-vanilla sex before, but would like to learn the BDSM basics, step by excruciatingly detailed step.

The first half of this book was painful to listen to. Five+ hours of talking about shame before the first real kiss. Then more talk, e.g. "that's disgusting!" (I skipped quite a bit.)

If you can get to hour 6 or 7, it gets hot, but this woman is seriously the worst submissive ever, with constant complaints, arguments and questions.

The Dom is amazingly, unbelievably hot (of course) and the reason I kept listening. He's a pretty tame "training wheels" Dom for readers new to the genre.

The whole book is in the female POV. The narrator is okay.

And wow, her "best friend" is a monster! And she's her only friend. Harsh.

I'm not planning on reading book 2.

BDSM lite, informative, but fell flat

Would you listen to The Agreement again? Why?

I'm undecided on if I would listen to The Agreement again. There were parts that I really enjoyed and found sizzling, but there were parts where the main characters behaviors were contradictory to the theme and plot direction that was set up.

What did you like best about this story?

I really liked the information giving on BDSM culture. While some seemed unclear on if it was real life fact and at times was over explained, it all felt logical, and believable. There were some scenes that were very sexy and this played very much as a beginners guide or introductory to BDSM, which fit the plot set up for Kate the heroine of the story.

What does Emma Wilder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed Emma's narration. I felt she brought life to the story. Her narration help me get through parts of the storyline that I am unsure I would have been able to get through if I had been reading the book instead. I always knew who was speaking by the cadence and tone she used and it made a distinct separation between the characters when they were speaking.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

BDSM a beginners 101 and how not to be judgmental.

Any additional comments?

This book had so much potential, but just fell flat on a few things for me. I loved the realism of a person who was walking into a lifestyle that was essentially alien to her, and the fact that she had to learn to adjust to surrendering control. However the heroine Kate at times seemed overly judgmental of a lifestyle she was trying and learning about, and seem to over react to minor things but then turn around and be overly submissive. Over all the Hero Drake didn't feel very Alpha or Dominant which made it feel less Dom/sub and more like he was just controlling and picky despite doing some things that fit a BDSM expectation. I absolutely hated the story line with Kate's friend Dawn, and I use the term Friend loosely. Dawn just made me frustrated at Kate for not telling her to shit up and mind her business, and it made the entire BDSM lifestyle out to seem like it was more of an abusive relationship rather than two consenting adults enjoying their sexual preferences or trying new things. I understand how Dawn would initially be concerned for her friend, but if Kate would have simply told her anything along the lines of "I like it, I want to do this, it's consensual, you need to butt out and mind your own business" I would have enjoyed the story line a lot more. Instead her friend held things over her head in the name of being concerned. I disliked how it devolves the story into a more immature Biden relationship than two adults standing up for their own choices, and then in the end it all seemed to be a moot point. I also had a hard time feeling a real connection between Drake and Kate, and though their relationship does evolve into more, it doesn't seem genuine or passionate with true love, which made all the running around, hiding, and then HEA fall short of what could have been a great story. Over all it was enjoyable but at times frustrating and had things that took away from the main plot unnecessarily. I obtained my copy from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.

good story!

This is good book. it was long, but every well written. i very happy it was not split into books! finally a writer who understands having to wait for anther book to release is not fun. this book has a great story..
The characters are engaging and well developed. The plot was realistic and fast paced. Tho I didn’t like her BFF Dawn form the start. and it just got worse as time went by. If she was my friend, she would have gotten an earful, and a kick to the crib, the fist time she didn’t support me and talked down to me.
the narrator did an excellent job bringing this story to life! exultant job!

Believable Story and Hot!

Any additional comments?
"I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom." This was a very enjoyable listen. I could see myself asking the same questions often enough that it kept it believable. Lots of angst to keep me riveted. I especially liked that the author didn't use hot sex as a load bearing foundation; she created a good plot that would have held up alone. At the end, there's an intro to the next in series, but it has enough of a HEA ending to stand alone. Emma Wilder does an excellent job handling different male voices. If anything, her female voices are a bit too similar. All in all, she rocked the vocalization. Worth a credit!

Africa is a continent,

Africa is a continent not a country. Something this simple should not be overlooked. Why does this continue to be an issue for writers and people in general
