In RITA Award-winning, New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr’s Temptation Ridge, two lonely hearts are surprised by love while visiting the close-knit mountain community of Virgin River. Shelby, a sheltered and idealistic 25-year-old, doesn’t want to fall for a man like Luke. And 38-year-old Luke, a battle-hardened Blackhawk pilot, fears being hurt by a young lady like Shelby.
Robyn Carr does it again with another excellent story in the Virgin River series. If you love Robyn Carr's other VR books you will love this one. The story of Luke and Shelby is excellent. Several other side love stories and catching up on favorite characters from previous books too. I would pay 2 credits for these books. The narrator is excellent too. Don't miss these!!

I love these Virgin River books by Robyn Carr. I think the narrator is wonderful and with each one of these books I feel like I'm with family. She always includes characters from the other books and ties them together. The men love their women and cherish them as well as their children and always look out for their community. I so wish that Ms. Carr would write about a few more of Jacks service friends and maybe some of Mels friends. These books have some spicey romance but within the context of the story line not just sex for sex sake. These books are always a good use of your time.

This is a wonderful book but it had a lot of material and people either in relationships or finding new relationships with the opposite sex. The book is really focused on Shelby (25 years old) and Luke (38 years old) it was absolutely wonderful.
Each couple or potential couple have their issues with their other half. As I said, the focus is mostly on Shelby & Luke's relationship. He is a former Black Hawk pilot and she is a "20 something" who has always been a caregiver for her mother. She never had an opportunity to do things that high school and college girls got to do.
Now that her mother has passed, she decides to take a little bit of time to focus on herself and re-creating who she is. One night at the local bar she notices Luke...with all his experience. She sets her eyes on him.
This is a great book, I tried to read another one by Robynn Carr, but I could just not get into it. I'm glad that I gave her a second chance with Temptation Ridge, because I think I might be turning into a bit of a fan!
Performance: I listen to my books on a faster speed most of the time, so I didn't notice the complaints of others. I thought the performance was very good.
If you enjoy contemporary romance you'll definitely like this. There are a few risqué moments but they are few and far between.
Great listen, I believe I got this one on sale. There's plenty of content, filled with enough detail & performed well. I will be spending more credits for this series.

This series is by far one of the best I've read, and this installment is no exception. I recommend starting at the beginning with Virgin River so that you can become familiar with all the characters and reading the books in chronological order. Top notch character development and plot lines. Every book in this series, including this one, is well worth the credit!

After reading Virgin River, I couldn't wait to start Shelter Mountain, and now I am totally hooked on the series. They keep getting better, and I feel like the characters are old friends and I'm growing with them. But what I am most impressed with, is Therese Plummer's performances. Her ability to alter her voice to very distinct female and male characters is amazing. But not only that...she puts so much emotion into her characters that I have found myself reaching for tissues to dab up the tears! The series is great, and so is the narrator.

While I have thoroughly enjoyed Robyn Carr's novels, especially the Virgin River series, I was not entertained by Luke and Shelby's relationship - the stereotypical older man seduced by a innocent young virgin.
Catching up on the other Virgin River residents was interesting; I particularly enjoyed the romance between Walt and Muriel, proving that there is passion after the age of 55. Their background and personalities were so much more interesting than Shelby loosing her virginity to a man old enough to be her father.
Although Luke was basically a good guy and Shelby had potential, together they just seemed weirdly unbelievable. Luckily, the other Virgin River characters carried the story and the rest of this series is addicting.

This was a wonderful addition to the series, and a lot going on...but I loved how Shelby stood up for herself once she had all the facts and fought for her man!! I love this series and I am on to the next one!! Great Town, Great Characters, Great Story, Great Narration, I cant get enough!!
I RECOMMEND!!!!!

I have really enjoyed listening to this series. The narrator, Theresa Plummer, is the best narrator. Each character has there own voice and you can tell a difference between each character. I love the fact that each book keeps telling you about the past characters along with introducing new characters. I could listen to these books over and over again!!

"Temptation Ridge" by Robyn Carr was a beautiful contemporary novel of the Virgin River #6 that featured three romances. The main storyline was of Shelby McIntyre and Luke Riordan...then it moves on to Walt Booth and Muriel and lastly Abby MacCall and Cameron Michaels. Be prepared for a read of not only romances that are going on in this small California town but where you will find the people will come together in sadness, in rescue times, along with plenty of babies being born, pregnancies, town near disaster, abuse, a homeless man with 'Down's Syndrome,' and a town drunk.
The characters were all well developed, believable and colorful bring out a well written read of suspense, humorous, tearful and even some sexy scenes that will keep you interested turning the pages to see what will happen nest.
I found "Temptation Ridge"a well written romance novel that I would definitely recommend to you as very good read.

This was my second Virgin River book. I enjoyed it. I like that this series continues to bring into the story characters that were in former books , which makes it nice to see how they are doing. Even though the books stand on their own, I am going to have to read some of the other books that I missed between this book and the last. I like that there is a lot going on in the stories, such as secondary characters stories, I look forward to other books with references to them and how they are doing.

My first title by the author was Virgin River and I frankly liked that story better. Temptation Ridge is also a good story, but there are too many different stories put together in one book. There are several different side stories developed at the same time and for that reason the relationship between the main couple stays a bit superficial. All the stories are good, but I personally do not like the story to be fractured, I prefer to follow mostly one couple throughout the book.
At some points the story also tended to be just too cute and all the characters a bit too good and nice.
Overall I plan to buy more books by this author just because the stories are simple and relaxing. They make me feel good.
