Publisher's summary

The right man for the job?

When it came to protecting the innocent, Bobby Taylor was your man. But when his best friend, Wes, asked him to keep an eye on his little sister, Bobby desperately wanted to pass. Because to him, gorgeous redhead Colleen Skelly didn't look like anyone's kid sister. He doubted she was innocent. And he wanted to keep more than just his eye on her....

After years of trying to get magnificent Navy SEAL Bobby Taylor to herself—and away from the prying eyes of her meddling brother—Colleen had finally succeeded. Bobby was hers, if only for a few days. And she had her work cut out for her. She had to prove that she was a grown woman—and that he was all she would ever need in a man....

Painful narration

This narrator is painful to hear. Her voice is a nasal grunt at best, even for the young women characters. It is hard to listen to a man who sounds like a 80-year-old chain-smoking woman, but listening to a 23-year-old woman who speaks like a young boy belching the alphabet is equally annoying. All Suzanne Brockmann's books are about the romance, and there is just nothing romatic about these character voices.

READ ALL of the Dark & Dangerous Navy SEAL Series

Throughout this particular Navy Seals series, Bobby Taylor was the most understated member of ALPHA squad team. Honestly, I think I love his story most of all, not that the others aren't action packed, romantic, hot and sexy! Go to Suzanne Brockmann's website, print the sequential order list for this series. MUCH better when you read them in order! Worth the summer discount prices or definitely worth the credits to get them all. I have listened to the series (11 books in the series) TWICE and will definitely listen many more times in the future. BUY all 11
I want to be an amazing Navy SEAL (God Bless America) in my next life!

ugh the narrator

I liked the story, but maybe because I had just listened to precious books, this narration was HARD for me. I LOVE suzanne brockman, but the book before showed Wes so withdrawn and a potential suspect and Bobby so serious. I really tried, but it was the worst California surfer accent. Joe Catalanato was Joe-can-no-toe. it was like no research of the author and precious books were done. ESPECIALLY where there are multiple books in the tall, dark, and dangerous series. Again, I LOVE Suzanne Brockmann and will continue to listen to her books, but this narration was HORRIBLE for this book!

Narrator was awful

The narrator in this was just awful. I hate to say this about a woman's voice, but I just have to in this case...it was shrill. It was painful to my ears. I listen to audiobooks because I suffer from chronic migraines. Listening to this book just made my migraines worse. She made any female character sound shrill and high pitched. Any male character was nasally and like a child. I'm not sure what made her think this is what humans sound like. Apart from the narrator, the book was just awful too.

Good but....

I liked the story. I've never been disappointed by Suzanne, however I had to work really hard to listen to the narrator. Her adult Male voices sounded like 14yr old s going through puberty and not enough character distinction w/that. I didn't want to miss the continuity of the sequence of the book series so I hung in there.

Narrator has a strangled edge to her voice

It's a Suzanne Brockmann book. Always a solid choice, IMO. Suz has written quite a few books and her characters crossover from one book to another amazingly. However, if you are a person easily distracted or influenced by a narrator, you might want to READ this book and not LISTEN to it. The narrator has a strangled edge to her voice throughout most of the book. I have also never understood why a narrator doesn't do even a little research before being asked to narrate a book or why the producer wasn't stepping in to correct her pronunciation of Joe “Cat” Catalanotto. I've listened to almost all of Suz's books and no one has ever pronounced it the way this narrator does. Thankfully it only happens 2, possibly 3 times.

I could not get passed chapter 2

OMG I have been binge listening to the serious this is awful ( The voice hurts I just can't) like nails on chalkboard awful. If I could do less then 1 I would give it that. The rest gets a 3 because I have liked all but one storyline so far. So sadly I'm skipping this one and staying away from this narrator.

terrible narration

The narrator did not do 'manley' voices well, they came across as whiney boys. She did not pronounce the names as previous narrations. I have loved this series, listening one right after another I am looking forward to see if this narrator is used in future books and if so I will be reading not listening to the rest of the series.

The vocal fry is awful

I couldn’t finish this book because of the narrator. Her vocal fry is horrendous. At first I thought maybe she was a chain smoker but you mostly hear the gravelly voice on the last word of each sentence. I gave the book a four because even though I couldn’t finish it it seemed like it would have been good with a professional narrator.
