Publisher's summary

Henrik Magnusson is supposed to be immortal, but a mysterious ailment leaves the vampire king near death, and not even the blood of the Proffered - human virgins trained to serve the elite - can sustain him. Then he rescues a beautiful young woman from his enemies and is filled with blood lust and desire he hasn't felt for centuries.

Photographer Kaira Sorenson's life takes a nightmare turn when she's attacked by bloodthirsty creatures - and saved by a vampire. She should be afraid of Henrik, but she can't deny her intense attraction to this regal, enigmatic being - nor the fact that her blood may be his only salvation. Now she must decide if she's willing to be his forever....

Wrong, wrong, wrong

This was not the narrator for this read. I was ready to give up after hearing or hero's voice. I convinced myself it was because he was sick. But no. then I get a hear of our heroine. That's absolutely when I jut resigned myself to the story only. I worked to block the irritating voices.

I did enjoy the story just not the narration.

Good but...

I really missed the mating ceremony in this book. Both of the previous 2 books included the mating ritual and that is important because of the deep emotion and steaminess. Also, did he make her better or not?!

PHEWEE..... BLOOD MATCHED JUST IN TIME

This was an OK listen.... if you like a short, sweet and cheap listen then, for $3.46, you get what you pay for with this. It's not deep, there's one drama scene and one sex scene as the dying Northern Vampire King finally finds his mate just in time before the rage of the beast within him finally took over his body which would leave him a deadly and vicious version of himself. So the Hero wasn't sexy at all.... he was pale haired (with bits missing), he had sunken dark rimmed colorless eyes and he was a skeletal version of himself. But the chemistry was there when he saw his mate..... trouble was they were both dying.

Dual POV's but I didn't really like the narration very much as the voice of the Hero just didn't do it for me I'm afraid because he sounded too old.

Okay

This was alright. It was kind of short and felt like it needed more fleshing out.

This book is Number Three in a Series

Lately I have gotten into the habit of listening to short PNR books because they are short, sweet and to the point. This book checks all three categories. First let me explain, that this is the third book in a series entitled the Vampire Warrior Kings. The first books is In the Service of the King (which is not available via audible, yet), the second book is Seduced by the Vampire King, and then this title. Although you don’t have to read the previous books to understand the characters in this book, they do give you a bit more in depth of the world that author has created.

In all the books, there are seven vampire warrior kings, each ruling over a particular section of the world. The vampires are in a constant battle with rogue vampires called soul eaters, given the name because they drink a human’s blood until the last beat of the heart and then devour the heart. These warrior vampires have an alliance with a few human that help them keep their secret from the rest of the human population. In return, the vampires offer them their blood to help extend their lives, cure diseases, etc and the humans offer human virgins (called proffered) trained to service the elite with blood and varies other things. Sometimes in doing so, a match is formed between the vampire and human female, making her his eternal mate and producing their offspring, since vampires can only produce male offspring.

Henrik is the vampire warrior king of Norway. He is dying from a mysterious disease that nothing is able to cure, not even the blood of the proffered. He is resolute that his life is ending decides there is nothing that can be done otherwise. Kaira is a photographer whose dreams are cut short when she is diagnose with a rare condition, threatening her life. She decides to follow her dreams even if it means her life. Kaira is attacked my soul eaters and Henrik saves her life only to be tempted into a passion he hasn’t felt in ages. Henrik and Kaira are a great story. The sacrifice Henrik made to guarantee Kaira happiness is heartwarming. I genuinely like this book and will read the next book in the series.

Good story

This is the second time I've 'read' this book. The first time was just an ebook and I enjoyed the storyline, characters, etc. (although I did miss the mating ceremony). This second time I listened to the book on Audible and I did not really enjoy the narrator's voices for the different characters. I just wasn't a fan of the accents, however, I still love the story.

Please tell me this is a series and not a trilogy!

I suppose it goes without saying that if you liked the first two you'll like this one too. Excellent characters and interesting interactions with plenty of sexy action.

If you're new to the series then make sure you listen to book one first (In Service of the King), it has all the introductory information on the world in it and books two and three assume you have this information already.

Once again the narration was excellent,I loved the characters voices and the female voices were well done, a tough job for a male narrator.

Good story with heartfelt moments.

This was a better story than the first two. I really liked getting to know what each of the characters needed, plus the author gives a bit of background for each character. I liked that apart Henrik and Kaira weren't whole, but together they were stronger, more powerful than before. I liked that each had something the other needed to heal. I also really liked the character of Jacob, Henrik's younger brother. I hope the author has plans for more stories in this series. Well done to the author and the narrator.
