Publisher's summary

"Responsibility" should be Nicole Keyes' middle name. After all, not many people would sacrifice their lives to run the family bakery and raise a younger sibling. But with Nicole's twin sister now blissfully married and her younger sis turning out more femme fatale than girl-next-door, super reliable Nicole is getting sick of putting everyone else's needs first!

Enter Hawk. The deliciously sexy former NFL player offers Nicole a taste of the freedom she craves. Hawk may know the way, blindfolded, to her sweet spot, but Nicole's not about to let him get close enough to break her heart. Of course, she might not have a choice in the matter if Hawk's past keeps getting in the way of their present....

Fun,

Therese Plummer brings out the fun and the sarcasm of Nicole. The characters are real and believable. I physically read this series when it first came out. It was great to catch up with these characters again.

Sweet Spot

Really like this series and absolutely love the narrator! Her voice is so pleasant to listen to and she brings such depth to each of the characters. A really great story.

Not great

Any additional comments?

Sweet Spot is somewhat better than Sweet Talk, the first book in this series. The main character, Nicole, is more likeable in this book and much more relatable. But the characters in this series seem dysfunctional. They don’t communicate well and lack understanding of human nature. They get irrationally angry with each other.

And I still have a problem with the narration. While Plummer does a better job narrating Nicole than Claire, she still uses a baby voice for Hawk’s teenage daughter which is extremely grating. Teenagers do not sound like babies. Their voices are not much different in pitch than adults. She ends up sounding even more obnoxious than she is written – which was pretty standard teenage brat.

This 3 book series isn't very good. -- Skip it.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This is book 2 in the series, it was okay. Unfortunately I went into the book already disliking Nicole's character from the previous book.

Would you be willing to try another book from Susan Mallery? Why or why not?

I like Susan Mallery. I like her Fool's Gold series, and other books she has written. This series is the first thing of hers I haven't liked.

What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

For me Therese brings fun and humor into her female characters. She is one of my favorite narrator's.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Maybe - it would depend on the movie reviews.

Any additional comments?

Nicole's personality character was difficult to follow. Her character in the first book of the series, Sweet Talk, was more of a "woe is me" or "poor me" personality. Then this book has her being a more compassionate person, except in regards to the third sister Jessie. When reading I like to feel endeared to the characters, I like to be excited for the next book and find out what happens to the remaining characters. Not so in this series. The only character I've like in the 2 books was Clair. FYI - Based on the reviews - I'm skipping the third book.

Great performance, sweet romance

In the first book our heroine came across as vengeful. But in this one she redeems herself while trying to be a better person. Meanwhile our hero must step out of the magical memories of his deceased wife in order to find love.
