Publisher's Summary

When Kate's abusive husband dies in a house fire, she only feels relief. Eighteen months later, she's ready to sweep up the fragments of her past and venture back into dating - but this time with the help of a professional matchmaking company. Surely Toujour can succeed where Kate has always failed and find her the perfect man.

Taylor is a firefighter who's tired of dousing infernos in his personal life. Exhausted from a string of dysfunctional relationships, he turns to Toujour at the prodding of a friend, hoping for an easier path to love. The last thing he expects is to be matched with Kate, the intriguing widow he met on the night her house burned. The problem is, she's determined to leave behind any connection to that awful night - and Taylor is a very overwhelming connection.

Past relationship fears and old habits threaten to tear them apart before they've even begun. Can the ashes of their pasts hold their happily ever after?

Fireman & Widow love story

I am a big fan of Lindzee Armstrong. Her stories are well written, captivating, and clean. This one is no different! I had a hard time putting it down. I love this series!

The narration was well done and brought the story to life. I have listened to several books narrated by her and I always feel immersed into the story.

Kate is a widow from a previous very unhappy marriage. Her house burned down when her husband fell asleep with a cigarette while drunk watching TV. She had a pretty horrible husband.

Taylor is a firefighter whose first house fire was at Kate's house. It was a pretty traumatic experience for him. He never forgot any of the details of that horrible night.

Eighteen months later Kate is ready to try finding a partner again and she turns to Toujour, a professional matchmaking company helping women meet their perfect man. Taylor is also tired of trying to find love after having some dysfunctional relationships and also turns to Toujour for help.

This is a great story and the narrator does an amazing job placing you in each scene. You can not go wrong with this amazing duo! I love her HEA conclusions.

Heartache, Healing and a HEA

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yew! I really enjoy Tiffany Williams as a narrator. I've listened to a couple other of Lindzee's books and really enjoyed them as well as Tiffany being the narrator. The story was fun with well developed characters and storyline.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the moments between Kate and Taylor. When she first sees him as a potential match on Brooke's computer at Toujour(the matchmaking company), when they have their first date and she finally realizes why he seems familiar, his saving her at the restaurant, riding home with her in a cab and many, many other moments.

What about Tiffany Williams’s performance did you like?

Tiffany did a great job with the different character voices. I liked Kate's character best. She gets a little feisty in a couple spots but I can't blamer her. After her past she deserves to be careful and smart about her choices and if she sees something she isn't ok with, I say by all means call them out Kate!!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had moments where I laughed out lout, moments where I was cheering Kate on for her standing up for herself, and moments where I was frustrated with certain characters. I didn't shed any tears. I started the book thinking I would listen to a couple chapters and I was instantly hooked and didn't want to turn it off. What was Kate going to do after the fire? I was so relieved for her and yet I knew more was coming with the matchmaking aspect of the book. I was able to listen to most of it at once and loved it!

Any additional comments?

Fun novella. I can't wait to dive into more of this series and characters!

The Fireman & Nurse

Ok, I didn't really enjoy the story as much as other books in this series. I found Kate to be a whiny female and many times her comments and attitude angered me. Sure, she had a difficult marriage and I honestly understand how she felt when her husband passed. Taylor was sweet and caring, a guy any women would love to have by her side.
Tiffany's performance was fantastic as always

Really good addition to the series

Any additional comments?

Another enjoyable trip back into the world of Toujour. Well written, sweet, clean and entertaining. Perfect afternoon listen. A believable story with realistic characters.<br/><br/>Even though this is book 5 in the series it can be read as a standalone. <br/><br/>Kate and Taylor were both likable characters from the start. <br/><br/>Kate is dealing with guilt over the events that happened almost 2 years ago that changed her life forever. Her marriage was not a happy one. Instead of being devastated by the death of her husband she felt relief when she found herself widowed. She wants to completely forget that period of her life. In an effort to move on with her life Kate decides to give dating a try. Kate joins Toujour Dating service. She is unexpectedly matched with the Taylor the fireman who was the one to deliver the news about her husband's death. Once she realizes who he is she is determined to distance herself from him as well even though she is pulled to him like a magnet. Kate needs to learn to trust her feelings and follow her heart not her head.<br/><br/>Taylor has his own issues he is dealing with. On the top of that list is his alcoholic sister and a string of failed relationships. He has never forgotten Kate. He has thought of her occasionally over the past 2 years. When given the chance he immediately agrees to a date with her. He doesn't realize that Kate has no idea who he is. <br/><br/> Whether they like it or not fate has a plan for them. One that no matter how hard they try to fight it, will pull them back in each others orbit until they realize this was meant to be.<br/><br/>Tiffany Williams did a great job with the narration. Pleasant voice. Easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a smooth even pace. Enjoyable character voices. She was able to make you feel the emotions of the characters and bring the story to life. Very enjoyable.<br/><br/>I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.<br/>

Great Shorter Listen Romance as Standalone

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom. This book is the first I have listened to in a series. It is actually book #5 even-though I have seen it referenced as book #1 somewhere in audio. I enjoyed this cute and heart touching romance so much that I looked up the others in the series and purchased some of the first audiobooks in the series with my KU upgrades. I get the impression that the related material is around the matchmaking service and not characters that you have to know all the history about to enjoy each book. Tiffany Williams narrates each of the books in the series. I enjoyed her performance in this audiobook and can expect to enjoy her performance in the others as well. I'm really currious about the other books by Lindzee Armstrong. I seem to have several of her ebooks in my library but haven't gotten around to reading them with my limited time, but see that I have discounted upgrades to ones that have audible and have added them to my wishlist. I recommend this audiobook and encourage others to check out the other books in the series and by this author.

A Romance with Real Struggles and Issues

If you could sum up Strike a Match in three words, what would they be?

Refreshing Take on Romance

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how author Lindzee Armstrong lets the flaws of our main characters shine through. I think the author could have played with these issues more and written a longer story, but this was a nice taste and twist for the Novella length.

What about Tiffany Williams’s performance did you like?

I enjoyed Ms Williams narration. She easily distinguished from character (male/female) to character (male/female). I was able to enjoy the storytelling and not get caught up on the technical part of this production. yay!

Great story

I love the way Lindzee Armstrong writes. She pours her heart out in her stories. There is so much love and romance delivered to the printed pages, or in my case to the voices in audio books. The story between Taylor and Kate is so cute. There are the typical misunderstandings you get early in a relationship. I will have to continue with the following books. The narrator was good in separating each of the characters.

Light, with a hint of Heavy, and a lot of Sweet!

My only complaint is that this story is much too short, though it is well written and absolutely complete.

Why is it a big deal then? Because I enjoy the sassy sweetness of this series. I love the way Lindzee Armstrong has combined very real (and sometimes difficult) emotions and events with lovable characters and a feel good HEA. This is definitely the kind of escapism that leaves readers with a satisfied happy buzz.

Kate and Taylor's story is much the same. They have pretty much instant chemistry, but their incredible volumes of emotional and experiential baggage almost guarantees to get in the way. Their struggles are easy to relate to making their HEA that little bit sweeter.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
