Publisher's Summary

“Lady Hawksworth, your husband is not dead.” With those words, Lara’s life turned upside down. Hunter, Earl of Hawksworth, had been lost at sea. Or so she’d been told. Their unhappy marriage - with its cold caresses and passionless kisses – was over. But now a powerful, virile man stood before her, telling secrets only a husband could know, and vowing she would once again be his wife in every way. While Lara couldn’t deny that this man with the smoldering dark eyes resembled Hunter, he was attentive and loving in ways he never was before. Soon she desperately wanted to believe, with every beat of her heart, that this stranger was truly her husband. But had this rake reformed – or was Lara being seduced by a cunning stranger?

"ONE OF HER BEST YET, I COULDN'T STOP LISTENING"

I really loved this listen, you can't help routing for Hunter - he was soooo patient, kind, thoughtful, sex starved but Lara just wouldn't be swayed by his pursuits and promises - stupid stupid woman. This is how to write a love story, it was Regency romance at it's best.

I thought I needed sleep but this listen proved me wrong.

LK is an automatic download for me and she just seems to be getting better and better then couple that with Rosalyn Landor's narration and you've got a match made in heaven.

Worth a credit? Absolutely yes, I'm one happy happy member.

    "A steamy little romance."

This book started out a little slow and cliche but ended up getting better as the characters were developed. I was never sure what the final verdict would be as to whether the man returned from the dead was indeed the Earl of Hawksworth or an imposter. I would give it 3.5 stars. My only complaint is that the heroine is annoying at times when it comes to intimacy with her husband and that fact is beaten into the readers brain without mercy. I felt like the author did a great job presenting life in the ton and their shallow, self-absorbed existence. Spousal abuse and the plight of orphans plays a interesting part of the plot and made the romance a little deeper than most. I listened to it on audio from audibles and the narrator did a really good job.

Any book that Rosalyn landor reads is always good. She reads each character wonderfully. The story was enjoyable and even though a bit predictable I still liked it. It kept my interest and couldnt wait to find out the ending.

"Very good if you have basic psychology knowledge"

This story was very good. I read several reviews saying that the heroine is unlikeable but you have to understand that a victim of repeated spousal rape would be completely negative and afraid of any intimate encounter in the future. The way Larissa acts just makes the story believable. Hunter was a very interesting character with many layers and up until almost the very end I kept wondering whether he was a stranger or not. This story has lots and lots of sexual tension, many twists and turns and a very satisfying ending. I highly recommend it.

"Great story with a few too obvious turns"

I enjoyed this story very much, though there were times I wanted to bang the female lead (Sara) on the head for her slowness to catch on. However, I guess her situation justifies her hesitations, and she comes through in the end. A couple of the plot twists were either too obvious or too clever by half, but it still was an engaging story with attractive and likable characters. Some of Kleypas's dialogue had me laughing out loud, which is one of my favorite features of her writing.

    Any additional comments?

Enjoyed the listen. Always like Lisa Kleypas books and this one was what I expected. It reminded me of the movie Sommersby, whick I loved. So I wasn't disappointed. As always Rosalyn Landor did a great job with the narration

"WOW! I want a stranger too!"

I decided to get this because of the narrator, Rosalyn Landor. She is amazing, I love the way she speaks and brings the characters to life. This story was fabulous. I was glad to see that it started right at the heart of the story instead of a slow build up. Also, their are several twists and turns along the way. I had no idea what was going to happen! This was decidedly a keeper and one that I'll listen to many time.

    "A bit predictable"

I thought this one was predictable and the main character a little too rigid to be likable. But since it is Kleypas, you know it will be a nice listen even if it isn't her best heroine.

    Story
"Stiff and Stuffy in Anyone's Arms"
Would you try another book from Lisa Kleypas and/or Rosalyn Landor?

Maybe. The story more than the narrator was weak.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The suspense of not knowing who the man was who claimed to be Lord Hawksworth was the most interesting. The least interesting was that three-fourths of the book was a not-that-great cat and mouse game of him declaring she would go to bed with him and she vowing she would not. After the first hour on the book it was old, contrived, and boring. Lara wasn't a warm character.

Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landor – was your favorite?

My favorite was Lord Hawksworth's mother - she came to life.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

Lara was not a likable character - stiff, dull, consumed with herself and marinating in her misery. Lord Hawksworth was a man who lived on the edge and is the kind of action hero every other woman in the world would love to have groveling at their feet. They just didn't seem to go together. And the hours spent back and forth, forth and back about going to bed together was about 3 times too much. And then she was willing to let him hang for being an imposter. Lara was just too everything-I-don't-want-to-be.

    Story
"First of her books I didn't love."
What did you love best about Stranger in My Arms?

Loved his character, started to dislike Lora's character. She is portrayed as a saint but really she is selfish and frigid. Another review said "it's all about Lora" and she nailed it.

Would you be willing to try another book from Lisa Kleypas? Why or why not?

I LOVE all of her book so far (this one was good but some parts were irritating) - I found myself rolling my eyes at her. But I love all the others so much! They are lovely stories and she makes you fall in love with all her characters and the extra benefit of feeling like you need a cigarette when your done...lol. ;)

What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

    Excellent reader.

    Any additional comments?

I have read the Wallflower, Hathaway, and started the Capitol series by Lisa Kleypas - they are all wonderful. Try one of those first, I'm afraid if you start with this one you may not continue with the others and you will really miss out. :)
