Publisher's summary

Zoe:

I got the three a.m. call no one ever wants. After I fumbled and dropped the phone, I finally heard the news I’d always dreaded. My father was in the hospital. And I was in Europe 6,000 miles away from Los Angeles.

I hopped one plane, then another. Then I was on a city bus to the hospital because I was stuck in LA without a car, which was like being in a river without a boat and without a paddle. The city wasn’t looking like it was going to be so lonely once I got the bus driver Max’s number, though.

Max:

Zoe actually asked me to let her know which stop was hers. None of my riders talked to me unless it was to get out of paying the fare. This one did. She was tall, pretty, and looked upset. So I gave her my number. Never expected her to call. But she did, and I brought her home, and then...I helped her feel better.

But her father got well, and she wasn’t planning to stay. She was ready to go off on her next adventure when all I wanted was for her to remain in Los Angeles - for me. I hugged her, let her get on a plane...and now, all I have to do is persuade her to come back to me. Convincing a woman with wanderlust, that’s not going to be easy.

Easy reading with some naughty bits

This book is OK. The characters are well developed and the dialogue is easy to follow. The author did a good job creating conflict within the story. This is more a novel with some soft-ish sex scenes rather than erotica with a cheesy storyline thrown in. This book would be the perfect poolside companion.

I listened to the audiobook so I did not see the comics or illustrated portions of the story.

great book

this is the fourth book, but I didn't read the first 3 and it stood alone well. I thought this was a fabulous book and loved the characters, especially because I'm a bus driver. lol I would recommend this book and would definitely read more from this author.

A very sweet romance

Any additional comments?

I live in LA so I may be a bit partial in my review but I did love this listen. It was a very interesting love story with Greek and Hungarian backstories (how cool was that!) The immersion into LA city life was just enough to make you feel the city but it complimented the story.

The romance was traditional (boy meets girl) with a non-traditional progression (girl just wants to have fun.) The HEA was sweet though and fit the situation.

The narrator was really good. The aforementioned Greek and Hungarian were deftly handled. All in all, time well spent.

Super light and fun

I really enjoyed this audio. It was a light and easy listen that got me through a few hours of cleaning. The storyline kept me interested and the narrators did a great job.

I volunteered to listen to this audio in exchange for my review by the narrator, author or publisher.

The father in this book totally cracked me up!

This audiobook was a fun listen. I liked the main characters and a few of the other characters were very memorable. Zoe and Max had a relationship where in all likelihood there shouldn't have been a relationship. She travels and lives all over the world and Max is very much rooted in one place.. The attraction was there to start with, but the relationship needed something else going for it to make it plausible. They have in common the fact that they are both (temporarily on Zoe's part) taking care of ailing fathers. They each seemed to help the other with that. I loved that Zoe marched to her own drum and that Max was so caring. I also really enjoyed Zoe's father Dominic and his antics.
The story was very light and enjoyable and the narration was excellent. It was definitely worth the time invested to listen to it.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.

I enjoyed most of it

I enjoyed this book but I didn't enjoy the main female character. she was a little to whiney for me. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Interesting charactors and a good story

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If they like romance books then yes.
I enjoyed the story line, the characters and the interaction between the lead characters really well done.

Would you recommend Stirred: An Illustrated Romance to your friends? Why or why not?

As above.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes it did, but the female voices weren't great... and the lead character is female so...
The narration wasn't a detractor from the book but it could have been better.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

If I was a movie watcher then yes.

Any additional comments?

There was a fair bit of interesting cultural information included which I liked.
I have to say I wasn't a fan of the sex scenes, they were a bit... well... choppy. It was like they were described while being censored.
I wish I could give part starts because this was really a 3.5, I enjoyed it and I'm planning to get the earlier books in the series, it just didn't quite make to a 4 in my opinion.

Note: This book was given free in return for an honest review.

Cover deceiving

Where does Stirred: An Illustrated Romance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Absolutely near the very top.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved both Zoe and Max, they were both true to their characters throughout the book.

Which scene was your favorite?

This is a hard one, maybe in the airport when Max yells in Hungarian out to Zoe so no one else will understand him, only the way he says what he says is oh so obvious.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved that they were always there for each other in regards to their family problems.

Any additional comments?

This was a total surprise. I have never read anything by Sylvie Fox before and the cover led me to believe it would be a book more about sex and just some plot to go along with it. It wasn't that at all, the characters have depth, the secondary characters and their stories are important and I loved them too. I can't wait to listen to more books in the series.
The narrator Steven Barnett was superb!!! The voices were right on and the sex scenes were totally hot! He definitely enhanced the book, so I give it 5 stars all around.
I received this audio book for free from the author or narrator in exchange of an honest review.
I will continue to read more form this author now that she is on my radar. I recommend this book to those that like womens literature, and contemporary romance with some hot sex scenes.
