Publisher's Summary

Maddie Townsend might live in a town called Serenity, but there’s been nothing calm or peaceful about her life since her marriage broke up. This stay-at-home mom has no job skills, an out-of-control 16-year-old son, a talkative 14-year-old who’s suddenly gone silent, a six-year-old daughter whose heart is broken, an ex-husband whose younger girlfriend is expecting their baby and two best friends who think she’s somehow qualified to help them open a fitness spa for women.

But if Maddie is a tad on edge with all that on her plate, it’s nothing compared to the chaos that ensues when she discovers that her son’s baseball coach has feelings for her and the whole town disapproves. Maddie’s faced a lot of challenges lately with strength and resolve, but Cal Maddox may turn out to be more than she can handle.

Then again, he could just be the one man in all of South Carolina who can help her find serenity.

I couldn't finish it.

I was disappointed. I thought it was started out promising and was excited to get into a new series but I couldn't get through this one. The premise was good but the conflict that the Parent and Teacher relationship caused was ridiculous. I know the story is set in a small town but give me a break. The husband can have an affair but she can't date a teacher.

Wood is good, this one was slow to start...

Sherryl Woods, the author, has better books than this one, in my opinion. She is a fun, good writer and I've read a number of her novels. This book is slow to start, more difficult than many of her other works for me to get through.
Nonetheless, it is a book worth reading, complete with well defined characters and a good plot, a very good performance, too.
I love the "series" concepts. I suppose it is something like sequential episodes of a television drama... but I often feel almost lonely when I finish a really good book, so it is great to find authors who are willing to create a whole community and introduce them to us over many hours of listening.
I recommend this book, but you need to stick it out a bit, only a bit though, and you'll get into the book and really enjoy the gentle woven material made of characters, plot and performance...
I really like Wood's organization where she highlights and focuses on characters we meet throughout the series that move the entire "saga" forward nicely. It is a good way to present the varied lives and the many sides of a place and time.

it was a ok book

the book was cute but I could have gone without the jerk ex husband he just made me mad through the whole book also if there was a little bit more romance in the book I think I would have liked the book better.

A worthwhile listen

I accidentally read Swan Point, so now I am going back to start at the beginning. Anyone who has rethought life choices in their forties will appreciate this series. Small town community and strong friendships between women. Supportive of each other. Happy to have used a credit. Well narrated.

Good Story

I enjoyed the story line and the idea with the 3 girl friends. But the love story was rated G. It was just a little to goodie goodie for me.

Good story, actual southern accent

Bravo! I was interested in the series because it is based in my home state of South Carolina, but leery because people usually butcher the accent. Thanks so much for using an actual southerner to portray the accents. I'm guessing the performer is a Georgia girl? She was a million times better than those overdone drawls that many non Southern performers adopt when trying to sound Southern.
I am looking forward to hearing the next books in the series based in the SC low country.

Delightful

What a delightful read. Sherryl Woods is one of those authors that make you smile and simply enjoy her books. Her Southern, small-town charm draw the reader into her story and have them pulling for the strong heroine and her family. This book was no exception. The story was something we hear of every day ??? divorce and mayhem in a family. But throughout the story line you know that those who do good will always come out on top. Life isn???t always like that, but these books are for entertainment and the joy of reading. And that???s what you get with Ms. Woods. I give her a thumbs up and can tell you, I have already purchased several of the next books in the series.

Happy, Relaxing Story

I enjoyed this style of story, as a change from a more heavy storyline. It was refreshing and pleasant to listen to. The Narrater did a good job, and helped hold the storyline together.
