Publisher's summary

Nominated Best Fantasy Romance by Gravetell Reader's Choice Awards.

I'll never forget the first time I saw them, warriors moving like shadows from the trees. Their eyes seemed to glow with a fierce golden light, moving more like beasts than men. I trembled, every hair on my flesh prickled in the age old response of the hunted. They were predators and I was prey.

They entered the clearing and brought with them the smell of blood. Clad in furs and leather, bristling with weapons, they were warriors the likes of which I'd never seen. Huge, hulking forms, dark shapes pricked with those glowing pairs of eyes.

I could not face them properly, for I was bound to a tree, in the middle of a wilderness, helpless as I waited to be sold to the Berserkers.

When Brenna's father sells her to a band of passing warriors, her only thought is to survive. She doesn't expect to be claimed by the two fearsome warriors who lead the Berserker clan. Kept in captivity, she is coddled and cared for, treated more like a savior than a slave. Can captivity lead to love? And when she discovers the truth behind the myth of the fearsome warriors, can she accept her place as the Berserkers' true mate?

Beautifully written short story

First off: yes, lack of consent bothered me. Though given the time period and situation I think it was handled well and the men were about as gracious about it as they could be.
This felt somewhat like a fairy tale but more grounded. It was wonderfully written and though the steady narration would usually bother me, it fit well for the story and the feel. Nothing was surprising but it flowed and unfurled calmly and satisfyingly. Well worth the money and I'm likely relisten to it in the future.

Paranormal ménage romance

I have read the book a long time ago, and hearing it was a great reminder of how much I like this book.
The heroine is scarred by an attack in her childhood, and bullied ever since. When her stepfather sells her at the age of 19, she expects the worst. However, the warriors who buy her are not exactly behaving like she fears.
It was a bit of a surprise hearing the story told by a man, since it is from the point a view of the heroine. But it was done well and I enjoyed his performance - with the accent - quite a lot. I would not mind a bit more variation in his voice though, to create more emotion or excitement when the story asks for it. That is why I rated 4 stars and not 5 for performance.

I liked the narrator’s brogue.

I liked the narrator’s Irish brogue. It made the fantasy world he described all the more colorful.

I also liked Brenna, Samuel & Daegan’s story with Lee Savino’s signature brand of spice all over it. Very entertaining.

Interesting story

I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator. Considering he was doing the voice for the main character whom was female and the two Berserkers I have to say his voice just is one of those ones that reach out and grab you. Ask for the story it was very interesting. The characters of the Berserker and how they became to be captivated me. But most of all the main character trying to express herself and learning about herself throughout the book made the story for me. When I read more books from this author and surrounding these characters? yes!

Story is good, audio could be better

Ok, I waited until I listened to all 5 books. It was a good series, but I wish there was more substance to the relationships. As far as the audio it’s pretty much monotone. At one point it sounded like the narrator was trying to make it more interesting, but stopped. Not sure if that was the author’s call or his, but more life could’ve been put into the characters.

Have your fan ready

This audio telling is as steamy as the books...more so with Robert Ross' sexy accent. I love this book series and the audio version has started off with a bang (pun intended).

Amazing book, mediocre narration

Lee Savino's Berserker series are fantastic! I've read and reread them all. It's sort of a twist on shifters and has a dark undertone. I'm absolutely in love with them! I was jumping for joy when I saw these finally on audible! However, the narration is only mediocre. Robert Ross' voice is nice and seems fitting for the characters, however often it was hard to tell which character he was. I wish there was a separate person for the female character. Also, especially towards the beginning, it seemed to be rushed. It was hard to follow and if I hadn't already read the book, I would have been very confused. Perhaps the rest of the series will be better and narrator will pause when needed and work on his inflection as well as tone for multiple characters.

Often the narrator can make or break a book. Don't let the narrator steer you off of this series or this author. If nothing else, go get her books and read them. You'll gobble them up! 5/5 for this series & author!

Enchanting intimately erotic Shifter Menage

This is a great series - all books! It is a unique and medieval take on the shifter genre, which makes the story enthralling. Although Alphas, the heroes are kind, protective and are coaxing the heroin, who is shy but brave. The erotic scenes are tastefully written and the few BDSM elements in the story are honourable and none degrading. This book is kind of a prequel to the rest of the series. The all male narration fits the story like a glove in my opinion - with a sexy Scottish burr. This is one of my top favourite series, that is speaking to my soul. I can only recommend reading. It is loosely comparable with the Wolf Clan Shifters Series by Ann Gimpel.

blessings

I liked that a vengeful act turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I also liked how the men took care og Brenna's family and eliminated their problem. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

Terrible narration

This narrator put me to sleep. Monotone, no inflection, a droning voice. He needs some emotion! Some change in tone and style to separate the characters!
I was really excited to see this series on Audible but after listening to less than 3 chapters I returned it.
I’m very disappointed. This is a great series and a great author.
